The Red Cyclone Needs Not Fear Illuminati Tricks: Wakeup Aegis Reflector Punishes for Street Fighter V

Muscle Power for Urien, on wakeup!

The wakeup Aegis Reflector is hardly a foolproof technique, but it can definitely cause your ‘Gief some grief if you’re caught off-guard by one. For students of Muscle Power, ThePrince offers this video demonstrating means to punish Urien for trying this tactic on the Red Cyclone.

Aside from a straight-up Spinning Pile Driver or Bolshoi Russian Suplex to catch Urien immediately, the video also explores means to recover and capitalize on being hit by the Reflector, depending on Urien’s next action–including going over the top to catch Urien with a Borsht Dynamite, dragging him through the Reflector towards you with the Cyclone Lariat, and more.

Other Side of the Coin: VesperArcade’s Street Fighter V Nerf Requests

VesperArcade puts forth who–and what–in Season 2 needs some more “balancing.”

VesperArcade opens this video by stating plainly some common sense about game balancing: specifically, how nerfing is a tricky method of creating balance in a roster, and needs to be handled carefully–preferably by offering the nerfed character something new in exchange for the benefits taken away. That said, there are a number of characters and moves that–in some player’s opinions–are just begging for some rebalancing in Street Fighter V’s promised March patch; in the video below, VesperArcade breaks his own wish list down for us.

He starts with Urien–of course! VesperArcade cites his EX tackle (which is faster than Guile’s EX Sonic Boom), Urien’s standing heavy punch, his crouching medium kick, and Aegis Reflector as items that all need addressing in a balance patch. VesperArcade also calls out Guile, on account of his forward heavy (upside-down) kick, his back throw (because of throw looping), and his 2-bar V-Trigger–and how they work together too well. Cammy needs some adjustments–in VesperArcade’s view, despite her already-nerfed EX divekick–to some of her normals, and her side-switching safe-on-block V-Reversal. Balrog additionally draws ire for his EX Dash Straight (+1 on block), his standing heavy kick, and his high V-Trigger damage. Lastly, VesperArcade talks about the tricky business of finding a happy medium between Season 1’s and Season 2’s “poor man’s R. Mika” Laura.

In each instance, VesperArcade offers his own suggestions for applicable frame data/hurtbox adjustments; check out the video for the details.

For the other side of this coin, check out VesperArcade’s choices for characters that need buffing in the next SFV patch.

RektScrub Remixes Ryu’s and Akuma’s Classic Street Fighter Tunes

Some fresh takes on two iconic Street Fighter themes.

RektScrub primarily posts Street Fighter V match footage to YouTube–but they’ve branched out a bit to try their hand at some new mixes of classic Street Fighter music. First they took on one of my all-time favorite SF themes, Ryu’s “The Road” from Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3:

Next they try a new take on Akuma’s well-known main-series theme, primarily based here on the version from Street Fighter IV:

Some interesting takes on classic sounds, here! We’ll have to keep an eye (and ear) on RektScrub to see what other characters’ music they’ll give a shot in the future.

SNK Rarity ADK DAMASHII Now Available for PlayStation 4

An unusual SNK treasure returns!

Formerly available only in Japan as a PlayStation 2 release, ADK Damashii is a collection of five classic SNK arcade ports not yet seen before in the West. The marquee title is Ganggang Kohshinkyoku (“Aggressors of Dark Kombat,” abbreviated ADK), a one-on-one arcade fighting game with multiple planes of action. The collection also includes Ninja Master’s: Haō Ninpō Chō, another one-on-one fighting title–ninja-themed–in which players can switch between weapon-based and hand-to-hand combat.

Three non-fighting-games fill out the rest of the package: action side-scroller Ninja Combat, run-and-gunner Ninja Commando, and shooter/puzzle game hybrid Twinkle Star Sprites.

You can grab this little piece of SNK arcade history from the PlayStation Store now for $14.99 USD. As an import title, the games are still in their original Japanese language. Check out some screenshots below!

Cammy Players: Make Sure to Add This Corner/Midscreen Combo to Your Street Fighter V Arsenal

Supplement your Delta Red training with this Season 2 combo.

Cammy is still a solid competitor in Street Fighter V’s second season; Cammy mains will want to take note of this corner combo–if they haven’t already–that, under the right conditions, also works midscreen.

The sequence in question starts with her target combo, into a light Spiral Arrow, closing with an EX Cannon Spike. It’s her strongest one-bar-combo (300 damage, and 450 stun). Interestingly, this basic combo also works midscreen against certain characters like Rashid and Chun-Li, and it will in fact connect midscreen on most of the SFV roster–except Alex and Balrog–with some slight spacing adjustments. SofYen details how to accomplish this, in the video below.
