Here are the main stage games for Evolution Championship Series 2018!

The lineup for 2018’s biggest fighting game event has been revealed!

It’s official: as revealed on tonight’s Evo 2018 announcement show (streamed live on Red Bull Esports’ Twitch channel), we now know the eight titles — not only seven, as initially teased — that will grace the main stage in Las Vegas this year! They are:

  • Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
  • Tekken 7
  • Injustice 2
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2
  • BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

evo 2018 main games

The games that will be featured in the Arena finals on Sunday are (order undecided):

  • Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
  • Tekken 7
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee

A big year for Arc System Works, as Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 returns alongside newcomers Dragon Ball FighterZ and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle! But the absence of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is a sure disappointment to the Marvel Vs. scene, unfortunately. Stay tuned for updates on side events!

Registration is expected to open in about a week. Keep your eyes on the Evo website, Twitter, and Shoryuken.com for updates! The Evo 2018 World Finals will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 3-5, 2018.

Daigo Umehara announces Kemonomichi 2 with this teaser trailer

“The Battle of the Beasts has just begun.”

Last month, Daigo Umehara hosted Kemonomichi, a set of exhibition matches with nothing but pride on the line! We got to see Aniken take on Kotaka Shouten in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Ogawa versus Machabo in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, and Ohnuki’s versus Deshiken in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. (You can check out those matches here!) After the dust settled, we were left wondering if The Beast would host a follow-up event…

And there it is. We don’t know the games or the competitors yet, but some fierce fights will be coming our way on March 10, 2018. Keep an eye on BeasTV and Shoryuken for updates.

SRK READER POLL RESULTS: The (currently) most-used fighters of Dragon Ball FighterZ!

The results are in: who’s on your Dragon Ball FighterZ team?

Just over a week since launch, our first DBFZ reader poll shows which “FighterZ” have most quickly earned regular placement on your teams. It seems Emperors, Princes, and nihilistic gods hold a lot of sway: as Goku Black, Vegeta (Super Saiyan), and Frieza are the most-picked based on your responses!

DBFZ Goku Black
DBFZ Vegeta

If you aren’t running these deadly fighters on your own team, you may do well to prepare yourself for the match-up! You can see the full results below; interestingly, the SSGSS versions of Goku and Vegeta aren’t drawing as much interest yet, but being locked behind Story mode has not prevented Android 21 from seeing more use than much of the roster. It will be interesting to see how this list evolves as the game’s meta deepens. Thanks to everyone who responded!

SRK READER POLL: Which warriors are on your Dragon Ball FighterZ team?

What heroes — or villians — do you take into the fight?

Dragon Ball FighterZ has dropped a spirit bomb on the FGC — if you’re reading this, it’s probably only because you’re just killing a bit of time between jumping into Casual or Ranked online battles, crafting combos in Practice, or grinding Story Mode to unlock Android 21!

Android_21_eating_16

So which three fighters do you choose to take into battle? Do you pick your favorites from the manga and anime? Have you carefully tuned three warriors into one perfect assist-powered mechanism? Do you just get a laugh from making Vegeta fight with Frieza? Or is your selection process refined to the single question: “Are they Goku?” Let us know who you like to use the most by picking your three fighters from the cast in our reader poll below!

Capcom to address a number of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition bugs in an upcoming patch

Here comes the bug swatter for Season 3.

While the most famous has been the Urien V-Trigger II invincibility glitch, it seems a number of bugs crept their way into the Arcade Edition build of Street Fighter V — affecting not only Urien, but also aspects of gameplay for Akuma, Abigail, Menat, Laura, and Ibuki. Capcom has now acknowledged these glitches, and has stated that they will be removed via an upcoming patch — the “next update,” but no specific date for that update has been yet provided. (It’ll probably be on a Tuesday.)

Here are the listed bugs and planned fixes:

Akuma
  • Bug Content
When performing the V-Skill Rakan against Ken’s Shinryuken, Akuma had a tendency to move backwards upon performing the Rakan Gokyaku.
  • Fix Content
Fixed the movement value for Rakan Gokyaku, eliminating the phenomenon.
Menat
  • Bug Content
The active frames for each of her normal throws without the crystal ball were 2F.
  • Fix Content
Fixed so that the active frames for each of her normal throws is 3F, the same as with the crystal ball.
Urien, Ibuki
  • Bug Content
When activating their V-Triggers Aegis Reflector and Rokushaku Horokudama against an opponent who is getting hit, one extra hit was added to the combo scaling count.
  • Fix Content
Fixed so that the combo scaling count for Aegis Reflector and Rokushaku Horokudama on activation is the same as before.
Urien
  • Bug Content
With his V-Skill Metallic Aura active, during the forward dash attack movement of Tyrant Blaze, upon absorbing an enemy attack with the armor property Urien would gain complete invincibility for the remaining duration of the move.
  • Fix Content
Fixed so that Urien will not lose his hurtboxes upon taking a hit against the armor of Tyrant Blaze with Metallic Aura active.
Abigail
  • Bug Content
Abigail could cancel the first hit of Abigail Punch (each strength) into V-Trigger.
  • Fix Content
Fixed so that Abigail cannot cancel into V-trigger from the first hit of Abigail Punch.
  • Bug Content
During the forward movement of the max-charge Metro Crash, Abigail gained an unintended number of armor hits.
  • Fix Content
Fixed so that Abigail will have two hits of armor during the forward-movement attack portion of max-charge Metro Crash.
Laura
  • Bug Content
When performing Shock Dance from a normal move cancel, the proper combo scaling was not applied.
  • Fix Content
Fixed to apply the proper V-Trigger activation combo scaling when Shock Dance is activated from a normal move cancel.

Keep the Fight Money flowing: How to complete all of Street Fighter V’s cryptic weekly missions

Because you need all the Fight Money you can get your hands on!

The introduction of the weekly missions in Street Fighter V were a welcome means to pad our virtual wallets with more precious Fight Money; included in these missions, alongside the obvious “play X mode” or “win X Ranked matches” sort of stuff, were the somewhat cryptic “special” missions: worth 5000 FM each, and lacking a clear description of the task you need to complete to earn your FM, only a mysterious hint scrolling along the bottom of your screen. Many of them can easily be figured out based on their title, that hint, or a combination of both — and some are just outright bizarre.

With the upgrade to Arcade Edition, these tasks remain as part of the weekly missions — and while they have been seemingly nerfed to providing only 2500 FM for completion, the completion objectives are the same — and they even appear to be cycling in the same order they were during Season 2. Some require a quick jump into a character’s Story mode, while most can be completed in either offline Versus (against another player, or just the CPU) or by meeting the same conditions in an online Casual/Ranked/Battle Lounge match. Refer to the list below to see what each mission requires for completion, and get that Fight Money! (Check the links in the mission titles for helpful YouTube videos.)

  • Sleeping Dog – Wake up the dog in the background of Apprentice Alley via multiple knockdowns on the left side of the stage.
  • Datta’s Wish – Play a match in which Dhalsim wins on Apprentice Alley.
  • You Toucan Be Friends – Cause the toucan on the fruit cart on Hillside Plaza to fly away with some fallen fruit via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • A Game of Push and Pull – Make the statue fall from the back of the truck on the right side of City in Chaos via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • All Work and No Play – Cause the fire hydrant to break open on the right side of City in Chaos via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • It’s Only Missile Disarmament – Cause the missiles resting on the ground in Shadaloo Base to fire via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • We Salute Thee, Four Kings – Win on Shadaloo Base with M. Bison, Vega, F.A.N.G, or Balrog.
  • The Rumored Four Kings Statue – Fight M. Bison in F.A.N.G’s Character Story.
  • Sakura’s Urgent Errand – Play Karin’s Character Story, part 4 (epilogue).
  • Come One, Come All – On Bustling Side Street, after the noodle shop doors on the left side of the stage have been broken by a player being knocked through them, dump a bowl of noodles on your opponent’s head by knocking them against the far wall on the extended left side of the stage.
  • Shibasaki’s First Request – Play Dhalsim’s Character Story, part 2.
  • Safety Measures – Destroy the hanging street signs on Bustling Side Street.
  • Remember That Dress? – Play Ken’s Character Story, part 4 (epilogue).
  • Blunder Bus – Get a K.O. on Bustling Side Street on the right side, knocking the opponent onto the bus.
  • Funny Guy – Cause the janitor in Union Station to fall over and get his bucket stuck on his head via repeated knockdowns on the left side of the stage.
  • A Short-Tailed Bat Colony – Cause bats to fly out of the cave on the right side of Forgotten Waterfall via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • Ishazaki’s Appeal – Cause the maid to strike the over-excited Ishazaki with her tray on the right side of Kanzuki Estate via multiple knockdowns on the right side of the stage.
  • Special Move Sensation – Play at least three rounds (and win the fight) on Kanzuki Estate, while triggering the animations of the two background ninjas in the center and left side of the stage with knockdowns.
  • Respectful Spectating – Cause the bear in the background of the Underground Arena to sit down, triggered by hard knockdowns.

Will we see different missions like this in the future? Capcom has promised new weekly missions will be added at some point, so we’ll see…
