Cosplay is becoming more and more of a common sight at FGC events, with more and more intrepid fans and artists showing off their takes on our favorite fighting game characters. At last weekend’s Red Bull Battle Grounds, cosplayer Romanova made a splash with her amazing tribute to one of Street Fighter’s newest characters: the Neo-Shadaloo Commander, Ed.

In the video above, Red Bull introduces us to Romanova and her love of cosplay, and her advice for fans that want to try their own hand at cosplay.

Brawlhalla adds bear trap-wielding Xull, the Iron Commander, to its roster

Another Legend steps forth to fight in Brawlhalla!

Platform fighter Brawlhalla gains its 36th Legend today, with the addition of a bear trap-wielding brute: Xull, the Iron Commander.

Xull is the second Legend to wield the cannon, combining its blunt force with an arsenal of physical grab moves using a bear trap that puts his opponents right in the cannon’s path. Complementing the cannon is an axe, which he wields with deadly force as the first nine-strength Legend – the first Legend with any stat with a value of nine.

Great things can be expected of Xull, Lord Commander of the Iron Legion. Hailing from the same world as Legends Jhala, Teros and Sidra, he’ll prove that orcs have a place amongst the honored in Valhalla.

“Xull opens up new options for fans of the axe, the cannon, and playstyles that favor control.” said Matt Woomer, creative director, Blue Mammoth Games. “I can’t wait to see what players will do with the first nine-strength legend.”

Brawlhalla is available to play for free (with a rotating selection of characters) on Steam and PlayStation 4, while purchasing the All Legends Pack (on Steam) or the Founder’s Pack (on PlayStation 4) unlocks access to every character in Brawlhalla’s roster.

Brain_F talks about option selects, and how terminology is used in our games

Some thoughts on the meaning of the term “option select.”

Heavy-hitting Street Fighter V Balrog main Brian_F wants to make sure we’re all on the same page here. When you say “option select,” do you mean what he means?

He discusses how by the most literal definition, buffering special moves into normal moves in neutral (resulting in a whiffed normal while out of range, but an automatic normal-to-special combo if the opponent happens to extend a hurtbox into the normal move) is technically an option select, because it provides two different outcomes from the same input, depending on the opponent’s actions. How about mashing out an invincible reversal while in blockstun, in case the blockstring is dropped? Brian_F goes on to discuss the general community’s attitude toward option selects in fighting games, and how option select mechanics are unavoidable in our games’ designs.

UDON’s Street Fighter vs. Darkstalkers “Midnight Bliss” and Shadaloo Dolls premium art prints coming in December

Some much-requested art from UDON is getting the premium wall print treatment.

Since UDON Entertainment started offering its artwork as premium wall prints through Focus Attack, two multi-cover spreads from the comics have been much-anticipated; now it looks like we’ll finally be able to pick up the collected “Midnight Bliss” (from Street Fighter vs. Darkstalkers) and Shadaloo Dolls (from Street Fighter Legends: Cammy) cover art in all their 16″x42″ glory.

Speculation and analysis: Looking closer at the new V-Triggers shown in the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition trailer

Some thoughts on what we know, what we don’t, and what can be seen in Capcom’s V-Trigger preview.

When the North American Capcom Pro Tour Regional Finals came to their conclusion yesterday, Capcom provided a closer look at the gameplay changes coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in January 2018. Specifically, the new trailer shows off some of the new V-Triggers you’ll be able to choose from, and how the combo extenders and mix-ups that they provide may add some much-desired versatility to the game’s system. We don’t know exactly how these V-Trigger mechanics will work yet, but some conclusions can be reached from the footage in the trailer itself.

In this video, rooflemonger goes over each of the V-Triggers shown, breaking down what can be seen and details about their operation that might not be immediately obvious:

VesperArcade is also digging into the new trailer, discussing the mechanics as they are shown, and what impact they may have on the game overall.
