Everyone has a fighting chance
The Albion Online team has sent word that the Merlyn Update will be released on July 31st. The update is a significant one that brings a host of new features into the game including the highly-anticipated Faction Warfare system.
Albion Online will be getting a big new update on May 2nd that will bring a number of significant changes to the game. Most notably the “Lancelot Mid-Season” patch will see a rework of siege camps along with “wide ranging weapon and armor balancing changes”. In addition, and due to player feedback, a re-spec option will be added to allow players to “move skill masteries between paths on the Destiny Board”.
Albion Online will be receiving its third major update on March 12th when Lancelot launches. The update will bring a number of improvements and bug fixes into the game as well as bringing along the fishing system. Developers are hoping that players will get “hooked”.
The latest Albion Online developer video diary has been published. In this episode, the team talks about forthcoming improvements to the Guild UI, most notably in how leaders can customize guild roles, how containers are logged and in the guild vault inventory mechanics.
Sandbox Interactive has confirmed that a number of employees have been released now that Albion Online is a fully released game. According to a statement from the team, this brings the numbers of active developers to pre-beta levels, generally a typical move for companies after the release of a game. Prior to the layoffs, staff numbers approximately 50. After the reduction, developer count is 31.
The holidays have come and gone already in the “real world”, but that doesn’t mean our virtual worlds follow the same calendar. In Albion Online, for instance, the Breath of Winter event is just kicking off that brings holiday cheer back to the forefront for players.
Albion Online players will be able to take part in a celebration of the cold season when the Breath of Winter event kicks off on January 10th. The event will provide players with a new quest line with exclusive themed rewards and activities. In addition, a new PvP battlefield will be part of the update as well as “a winterly version of the famous “Three Sisters” expedition”.
Sandbox Interactive has announced that the next major update to Albion Online will be coming to live servers on December 6th. Called “Kay”, the update is focused on making a number of basic improvements to the game as well as updates to Guild v Guild and Territory Raid battles. A new mount will be added too.
Albion Online is ready to head to mobile devices with the arrival of the closed beta testing phase for the iOS version. Players can sign up for testing opportunities and help the team with the cross-platform experience. Other platforms include: PC, Linux, Mac OS, and Android devices.
The Albion Online team will be on hand the next couple of weeks streaming the first-ever Arena Masters Tournament. Events will be streamed live from Tuesday – Friday this week and from Tuesday, November 14th to Friday, November 17th next week. Viewers will get a chance to vote for which matches should be broadcast on the AlbionTV website.
