Black Desert Online is under DDoS attack for the second time in about as many weeks. The team has acknowledged the attack and is working to resolve the issue. The report came nearly a full day ago, but as recently as a half hour ago, the problem still existed.

Black Desert Online players can now share their characters’ looks with others by using the new Beauty Album feature. Once a look is created, it can then be saved in the Beauty Album and then uploaded to the Gallery where others can browse, choose and apply looks to their own characters.

“I hate it. Absolutely bloody hate it.” said my brother. He was talking about the fact that enemies in Black Desert Online reveal nothing about themselves until you’ve killed multiple. Such a system is certainly different from the ‘norm’ and does take some getting used to. The first encounter I had with an enemy, I assumed the game was bugged for failing to reveal its health or deterioration as I peppered the creature with arrows.

Daum Games Europe has announced that it has been rebranded as Kakao Games Europe. Kakao Games is the parent company of Daum and is working to grow its influence in a worldwide market across multiple platforms including PC, console, mobile and VR.

Daum EU has published a brief notice on the Black Desert Online forums to let players know that authentication servers are currently experiencing a DDOS attack.

Maintenance is now complete on both the Black Desert Online client and the site forums. With things back up and running, the official patch notes for today’s deployment of the Valencia Part 1 update that brings a significant size increase to the game world as well as a number of new features and enhancements.

Daum has sent word that the Valencia Part One expansion for Black Desert Online will be released on Wednesday, June 29th after several delays earlier in the month. Valencia Part One increases the world by 30% as well as brings new weapons, armors quests, and accessories into the game.

Thanks to our own HoldenHamlet for this find: It appears that CD hacks and skill spammer hacks have been shut down in an unreported piece of recent updates. Reddit user Ninjamonke wrote that it appears that the death of these hacks is legit from statements made in the BDO bot maker’s Discord channel from both staff and developers of the programs.

To anyone who might have heard a rumor that Black Desert Online Project Manager Daniel Loehr had been fired, please consider yourself disabused of the notion. We reached out to Daum EU’s Rick van Beem about the rumor and were told that Daniel is a proud new father currently on paternity leave for a couple of months. While Daniel is away, an associate project manager has been appointed to keep things shipshape.
