Having had a very busy week I’ve not once logged into Black Desert Online. My time has been short and when I did want to go on the computer recreationally I wanted something immediate. In many ways I’m grateful that Black Desert Online is Buy to Play so that I don’t feel pressured to log in. On the other hand, I still feel somewhat anxious when I don’t. Years of a gear treadmill or handing over for a subscription fee tends to have that effect.

Black Desert Online players looking for pirate-y adventures will be pleased to hear that Mediah Part 2 will be live later today when maintenance is complete. To get everyone’s timbers a’shiverin’, Daum has released an overview of the content players can expect.

After backlash from the Black Desert Online community about the rather lackluster Tier 5 horse that came with the Conqueror Package, Daum has responded that new horses will be issued. The decision came after meetings and discussions with the developers, though the process took quite a bit of time. As a result, Daum has apologized to the community and informed them that Conqueror Package owners will receive a Tier 5 Female Horse and a Breeding Reset Coupon for female horse on May 6th.

“Hasn’t he been standing here since the game launched?” My brother asked. It turns out this particular NPC had and I then had to explain that as a starting area, many of the non-player characters were static or had fixed routes around set locations.

Black Desert Online is giving players a chance to take part first hand in the effort to hunt down hackers and cheats in the game. A new post on the BDO forum has announced the “Hacker Hunting Initiative” that gives players the opportunity to report bots, hackers and “disruptive hackers” (i.e. griefers). The reward? Elion’s Tears and GM’s Blessings.

Reports are coming in that nefarious players are using different ways to hack cooldowns and make them non-existent, and to hack Health and Mana in Black Desert in order to make themselves invulnerable. We’ve reached out to Daum Games, and received the following response…

I hate fishing in Black Desert Online. In fact, hate is a generous word: I absolutely loathe it. Every single MMO I’ve ever played always has a group of players desperately wanting fishing to be implemented and yet it has to be, without doubt, the most mind numbing profession ever devised. I’ve never once fished in an MMO and found it entertaining. In fact, I’m not even sure it’s possible to make it entertaining.

Black Desert Online is the newest darling in the MMORPG industry. Players will be receiving a free character slot for Black Desert Online with this week’s release of the Musa and Maehwa classes. The announcement was made on the official forums earlier today.
