Gamespot is reporting that Frontier has been working in cooperation with Valve to get Elite: Dangerous compatible with Steams Vive VR headset. The update that includes VR support will be released in time for the holiday season.

The latest Elite: Dangerous newsletter has gone out and contains some exciting news for players as progress on Close Quarters Combat (CQC) is entering the fourth beta phase that is expected to go live today. A stress test will be held perhaps as early as next week to challenge the system to its limits.

During a recently held Reddit AMA with Frontier Development’s David Braben, it was confirmed that the Elite: Dangerous XBox One port would be released worldwide on October 6th.

A new expansion to Elite: Dangerous is on the way according to a new announcement out of Gamescom today. Called "Horizons", portions of the expansion will be released episodically with the first portion called "Planetary Landings" which is expected to launch later in 2015. The Elite: Dangerous servers have been updated with the massive content patch called "Powerplay". Powerplay includes new ships, new game mechanics and a new strategic component and is considered the largest update thusfar in the game’s history.

The next big update to Elite: Dangerous is called "Powerplay". The team has announced that the beta for Powerplay will begin on May 20th which is big news considering the long list of enhancements to the game will be incoming.

The next Elite: Dangerous update has been named and described. Called "Powerplay", v1.3 will bring a new gameplay feature into the game. Players will be able to align with one of three intergalactic powers in an effort to dominate and control space. Once aligned, players will be able to help accomplish group goals, earn reputation and to advance the shared cause.

The Elite: Dangerous team has gone onto the game’s official forums with an update that is packed with interesting tidbits of information.

In an unexpected move this week, Frontier released Elite: Dangerout on Steam. New players can grab a copy for $59.99 with existing players able to add Elite: Dangerous to the Steam Library through the "non-Steam game" option.

The Elite: Dangerous forum has been updated with the patch note for the Wings content expansion. Wings brings some very nice multiplayer features on board with the Wings beacon system that allows players to send signals to super cruiser environments. Beacon functionality allows other players and NPC ships accessing the signal to drop into the same location and is considered an enhancement for cooperative adventuring.
