Start on the Path to Killer Instinct Mastery, with this Mini Guide Series from CL|Novril

Known for their informative Guilty Gear tutorials, the Chemical Lovers are branching out into Killer Instinct with a new series designed to get players up to speed with KI’s unique mechanical quirks. Before diving into the nitty gritty of Manuals, Combo Breakers and all of that fun stuff, Novril focuses on things like the pricing model for Killer Instinct, resources which will help pick your character, the Shadow Labs training mode, as well as the in-game tutorial which acts as a great introduction into the combat system present in KI.

There is also a brief discussion of how Killer Instinct’s neutral game works, compared to a game like Street Fighter–with the answer being fairly similar, in case you’re wondering. Killer Instinct offers a free-to-play edition, and with the cut-price Definitive Edition and the single player Shadow Lords mode coming on September 20th for both Xbox One and Windows 10, this guide series will be the perfect aid to any players want to pick up KI in the coming months.

Cloud9 Signs Their First Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Player, Evo Champion Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce

In a signing many weeks in the making, Evo 2016’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U champion Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce has been picked up by Cloud9. The news was leaked by ESPN earlier today and after just coming off the plane from Rio, Ally has confirmed that he will be competing for Cloud9 in the future.

This signing comes after a golden period for Ally, winning the eGames, Evo 2016 and GOML, putting him in contention for world number one in Smash 4. Besides his one anomalous placing at CEO 2016, Ally has placed within top five in the last 16 tournaments he has attended, defeating players like current world number one TSM|ZeRo, CLG VoiD, MK Leo, Team eLevate’s Larry Lurr, and Nairo to gain his status as the world’s best Mario.

Ally joins fellow crowd favorite Mang0 on Cloud9, and it leaves very few top 10 players who are still free agents. With rumors about pick ups for Mr.R, Abadango, and Nairo swirling around, it won’t be long until all of the Smash 4 top 10 are claimed by a team.

Gllty and Aris Talk About “Heels” in the Fighting Game Community with Best of III

Last week’s Best of III about the feud between LowTierGod and dT|ANTi received some backlash, as it spotlighted a player (LowTierGod) who promotes negativity in the community. This week, Best of III follows up on the topic of negativity, talking to two players who are sometimes identified as “heels” within the FGC.

Both Aris Bakhtanians and Leah “Gllty” Hayes are no strangers to controversy. Aris infamously caused uproar due to his behavior during Capcom’s Cross Assault reality show, while Gllty has been known for making disrespectful comments at tournaments.

These two talk about these incidents during the course of the show. Additionally, they also discuss other controversial personalities within the community, specifically Empire Arcadia founder Isaiah “TriForce” Johnson, Panda Global’s Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez, and of course Daluan “LowTierGod” Sparrow, and whether or not their individual approaches to being “heels” adds anything positive to the community.
