Dizzy’s Combo & Setup Roundup for Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-

It’s been two weeks since the Grove Maiden’s introduction to the current generation of Guilty Gear. Dizzy returned with the majority of her tools intact from prior games: her ice spike, fish, sickle, and bubble all made it in. Alongside those there are the fire versions, and of course the ability to YRC anything–which, when combined with her double airdash mixups, can throw the opponent into quite a loop.

Here’s a roundup of some example combos and setups, as well as one idea on how to escape the corner.

A more basic setup involving the K fish, which tracks the opponent better than the P fish and hits two times.

This advanced combo shows strong okizeme that will leave the opponent blocking for a while, thanks to the chargeable fire spike. It can still be Blitz Shielded, however.

Dizzy’s throw lets her combo and set up okizeme easily. This example also shows a follow-up combo.

RC in the corner earns big damage, and an opportunity to begin okizeme.

This should provide a few ideas on how to keep up pressure on a blocking opponent.

If Dizzy’s pressure isn’t tight enough, the fish can be hit after an instant block or the setup can be escaped by jumping.

There are also many more examples of combos in a Dizzy compilation document spearheaded by Faultydefense and Kizzercrate.

Looking for specific system data on Dizzy? This Japanese PDF file gives a few numbers on every character in the game. Dizzy is the last line, and it lists the values on her defense modifier, guts rating, stun resistance, wake-up times, backdash time and invulnerability, as well as jump start-up.

Are you taking Dizzy for a spin in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-? Let us know in the comments.

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload & Guilty Gear Isuka Are On Sale in The Humble Store

For any players looking for some old school Guilty Gear action on PC, here’s some great news for you: both Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and Guilty Gear Isuka are currently on sale in The Humble Store.

The first update to the Guilty Gear X2 series, #Reload is the first time Robo-Ky had his own moveset. Interested players can purchase it for only $1.49 USD.

Guilty Gear Isuka, on the other hand, is more of an experiment at allowing 4-player battles in the series. While not as highly regarded as other entries, it’s still a worthy addition to any fan’s collection–especially since it’s also going for only $1.49 USD.

Players considering grabbing either of these titles should head on over to the Humble Store, but take note that this is a limited-time sale that ends in a couple of days.

Bandai Namco Wants Fans to Really Experience and Feel Tekken 7’s Story

Gaming media outlet Dualshockers.com received a quote from Bandai Namco America Brand Manager Mark Religioso, revealing that the company is putting emphasis on Tekken 7: Fated Retribution’s single player experience:

What we’re kinda seeing now with the trends in fighting games, is that fans want more than the core fighting experience, they also want a full fleshed-out single player experience, which is why we’re pursuing story mode so hard in this game.

We’re really integrating it in a special way where it goes from in-game cinematics to actual gameplay with a lot of dialogue between characters, so you can really experience and feel that story.

Religioso also teased that even more characters would be joining the roster, presumably in addition to Master Raven and Bob, revealed at Evo 2016.

Though competitive players are usually focused on the quality of the multiplayer modes in fighting games, it is hard to argue that a thoroughly developed single player experience does not contribute to the overall success of a title. Furthermore, the social and political stances of the characters in the story of Tekken have been a focal point throughout the history of the franchise, so a more interactive story mode is good news for all Tekken fans.

Make Killing Easy With These Marth Smash 4 Kill Confirms

Killing with Marth can sometimes be a lesson in frustration: even if you land that sweet tipper forward smash to end the first stock early, his variety of sour spots and slow start-up moves could mean that the next stock lasts forever. It’s made all the more irritating by the knowledge that, if you could just land the move, the stock would be over in a flash. That’s where VeXx comes in. The Venezuelan Marth main has put together a video that tips you off to some of the simplest and most confirm-able ways to find a kill with Marth.

He also pulls out some of the flashy stuff later in the video, so even if the setups that he covers early in the video seem like no-brainers, it’s well worth sticking around to see some of the more complicated ones. Plus, if you can incorporate them into your game you’ll never be forced to resort to fishing for f-smashes, since your opponent will be long dead.

Breaking Down the Loss of Kyo’s Cross-Up Hop in King Of Fighters XIV

King of Fighters XIV has proven very willing to shake up the long running series, and among the other, more *ahem* obvious changes from prior installments in the series, those who have given the demo a go have discovered that there is a system wide change to the way jumps work. Although this doesn’t necessarily have an instantly noticeable effect, they do feel a little different to previous games.

With a bit more detailed inspection however, it was discovered by Youtube user G that one of Kyo’s staple abilities, being able to short hop and cross-up, has been removed. In the video below he breaks down just what this might mean for the series poster boy, and how those playing him might have to adjust. Of course, this may well change by the time the final product is released – this is just the demo after all – but it might be necessary to make peace with this rather awkward change. We’ll find out when KOFXIV releases on August 23.

Make the Most Of Blaziken’s High Jump Kick Cancels with This Pokkén Tournament Tutorial

When it comes to Pokkén Tournament, you shouldn’t be taken in by the colorful Pokémon flavored camouflage. It’s a game with surprising depth, and though it might seem like little more than sophisticated rock, paper, scissors at first, there’s plenty to get to grips with when it comes to playing your character of choice to the best of your ability. When playing Blaziken, for example, you’ll have to learn how to balance scoring maximum damage (with the flashiest combos) against the toll it takes on your own life points. One way to get loads of damage is to mix your opponents up, thanks his High Jump Kick Cancel.

As Youtuber DeadlyShoc explains, by cancelling Blaziken’s High Jump Kick into an air dash, you can land right next to the opponent with no landing lag, allowing to put pressure on the enemy right away. Since you’re on the ground, you can react with any option that you have available, including stringing right back into another big damage combo. To see it in action, learn what it’s useful for and a breakdown of exactly how to add it to your own firechicken game, check out the tutorial below.

The 10 Best Smash Wii U Moves, According to ESAM

As far as best-to-worst lists, players tend to rank specific characters, or even matchups. However, ESAM took to ranking actual moves in Smash4. He considered things like whether or not a character always has access to the move, and how easy it is to counter vs how effect it is if you don’t know how to deal with it. He points out moves that make or break a character, as well as moves that force the opponent to completely switch up their playstyle to even play the matchup. He breaks down the moves, how effective it is in which situations, and where he thinks the character would be on the tier list without that specific move.

Desk Crafts Extra Challenging Street Fighter V Juri Trials

Trial mode is an often overlooked mode. Usually trial combos are impractical and unnecessarily stressful on newer players, while not offering much to learn about the game. In the past couple years games have been getting better, but fans still sometimes find them lacking. This time around youtuber Desk decided to beef up the trials in SFV with Juri, making these Hardcore Trials for Execution junkies. Try them at your own risk.

Desk has been having a lot of fun with Juri, apparently. Check out the combo video he did earlier this week with her!

Skullgirls Patch – Bug Fixes and Enhanced Replay Functionality

It’s been four years since Skullgirls initially came out, and the game is still getting patches and developer support at no extra cost. Though the game received it’s final balance change with the Robo-Fortune patch over a year ago, meaning the game fundamentally isn’t changing any more, these patches are nice to see. Similar to the patch Skullgirls received last month, this patch gives some quality of life changes. You can view the patch notes here, but the sum of it is a couple bug fixes and some Replay enhancements.

The bugs include something that would crash the game when two specific supers connected, as well as some Training Dummy bugs. The replay enhancements include the ability to enable attack data during replays, letting you view things like attack data for combo damage, as well as the ability to slow down replays for a better look at what’s occurring.

Prior to this, there was actually a patch we neglected to report on. A rather large and unfortunate discovery was made by the Lab Zero team. The bug was in regards to Quick Match on PC, where essentially if Player 1 won the game, both players would get a win, but if Player 2 got a win, neither player would get a win, leading to the Leader boards strictly reflecting how many times Player 1 has won a game. This bug was PC exclusive, meaning console players do not have to worry about their rankings, but it was stated that the PC leader boards would not be reset.

These and any future changes will be coming to consoles when the lobby patch drops, though that may be the last time the game is touched by Lab Zero Games.
