GO1’s Gotenks setup is shown off (and slowed down) in this Dragon Ball FighterZ video

Offensive play in Dragon Ball FighterZ is nothing short of crazy — it seems like every major tournament features another wild piece of tech, stacking on more and more for the players at home to catch up on. Speedy963 is one of said players, and he’s put in the work to boot: below is his video breakdown of Cyclops|GO1’s latest pressure-maneuver for Gotenks, a character only recently picked up by the player:

Speedy963 also linked the match used for reference, shown below:

There’s no doubt that as notable players like GO1 utilize new characters, more videos like this will start to crop up. There’s no telling how the landscape of Dragon Ball FighterZ will continue to shift.

Storm Collectibles has acquired the license to make Samurai Shodown V Special figures

With a new Samurai Shodown looming, it seems that we’re about to see more stuff from the series, both in and out of game. One avenue for this is toys and collectibles, and one toymaker looks to be readying to make new figures for the franchise: Storm Collectibles has announced that they have acquired the license to create figures based on Samurai Shodown V Special. Details about what exact figures they’ll be making have yet to be announced.

Samurai Shodown V Special, known as Samurai Spirits Zero Special in Japan, is one of the more popular Samurai Shodown games for competitive play — right up there with the classic Samurai Shodown II. We’ve run a feature on this game back in 2014, detailing how it’s “one of the best fighting games you’ve never played”.

Storm Collectibles on the other hand is no stranger to the world of fighting game figures. Prior to this, they’ve released a number of excellent figures for Street FighterTekken, and Mortal Kombat. You can check out their previous figures that we’ve covered here.

Injustice 2 Intercontinental Championship Australia results and replays

As the 2018 Injustice 2 Pro Series continues towards the endgame, one mysterious dark cloud continued to hang over the heads of competitors and fans alike: a mysterious European Program that would determine one of the 16 spots in October’s IPS Finals, that until recently had remained a question mark on the Tour. Earlier this month, the curtain was finally lifted on the proceedings — which to the delight of many more fighters outside of the United States, will encompass several more countries as the Injustice 2 Intercontinental Championship.

The first of four Qualifying online tournaments was held this past weekend, specifically for warriors in Australia and New Zealand. In the end, 18 players battled to determine which two would go on to represent the Land Down Under in the final 8-player IC Championship Finals in Vienna, Austria on October 7th, to decide the undisputed Intercontinental Champion, who will qualify for the IPS Finals later that month.

The SRK Rollback: Best of September 7-13, 2018

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from September 7 to September 13, 2018!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:
blade strangers exiva feature image 750x400
Shoryuken review: Blade Strangers is an incredible starting point for newcomers while offering unique gameplay for veterans

Lazybones2020 offers up a closer look at this amazing little oddity of a crossover fighter, and why it’s worth your attention in the current swath of available fighting games.

Frame 2:
samurai spirits teaser logo
SNK announces Samurai Spirits for PlayStation 4

SNK shocked and delighted the FGC with the announcement of a new Samurai Shodown, coming in 2019. And it looks really promising. Will it stay true to the series’ methodical gameplay, or will this update cater to a different audience…?

Frame 3:
Icons Afi and Galu
AtlasOne takes on the backlash of “Icons: Combat Arena” and how games must develop their own identity

A great discussion of the blurry line between homage and rip-off, and what gamers respond positively to when new titles spin out of prior concepts.

Frame 4:
cervy
The Immortal Pirate Cervantes officially joins SoulCalibur VI’s Stage of History in newest trailer

Bandai Namco gets the official confirmation out of the way (with an impressive trailer!), after the accidental reveal at Melbourne. They sure seem to have trouble keeping SoulCalibur characters under wraps!

Frame 5:
nakoruru_takes_a_selfie
Nobuyuki Kuroki confirms that new Samurai Shodown is being made by the same team as The King of Fighters XIV and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

The new SamSho’s art style raised a lot of speculation about the developer, that seems to have proved unfounded. This is either encouraging or discouraging news, depending on your opinion of SNK’s last two releases.

Crow_Spaceboy, Assistant Editor:

Frame 1:
Lethal League Blaze Release Date Trailer Featured Image Candyman Resize
Lethal League Blaze is coming to PC on October 24 and to consoles Spring 2019

I am surprised at how quickly this is coming out. Outside of that one concern, the Lethal League series is exceedingly good at the niche they’ve carved for themselves, and I’m excited to see how this new entry works.

Frame 2:

Namco drops Tekken 7 version 2.01 on PlayStation 4 and Steam, fixes Lars Rage Drive, Eliza Super, and more

The speed of which Namco has responded to Tekken 7 bugs has been impressive, to say the least.

Frame 3:
famicomfighters
Fan-made crossover “Famicom Fighters” brings 8-Bit NES Stars into the fighting game genre

Really excited to see how this develops. Boggles my mind that there’s so few fully realized Mugen indie games in the world.

Frame 4:
condor
Sas Izm shows off footsie and command grab setups for Condor in Breaker’s Revenge

I genuinely don’t understand who has the rights to Breaker’s, and why they haven’t made a Breaker’s III.

Frame 5:
bandai namco TGS 2018
Bandai Namco’s Tokyo Game Show 2018 schedule includes Tekken 7 Pro Championships, Jump Force, SoulCalibur VI, and more

If they don’t reveal Raphael here I will lose my mind.
