Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from August 10 to August 16, 2018!

Frame 1:
Relive the top 5 best Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition moments from Evo 2018, as ranked by Capcom Fighters
Evo 2018 was chock-full of fantastic moments, the top five only scratches the surface of all the great stuff that was going on!
Frame 2:
Shoryuken at Evo 2018: Hands-on with the Victrix Pro FS aluminum-body arcade stick
What is it about aluminum that just makes arcade sticks look so good?
Frame 3:
Sound designer Mike Thal analyzes Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s game audio
Cut the salt back a minute — this is not an autopsy of a failed game, but rather a detailed look at design choices directly affect our perception of a game.
Frame 4:
Input lag angst and netcode woes: The results of r/SF’s Community Feedback poll show what players want most for Street Fighter V
Speaking of design choices: if three years into a game’s run the players are still asking for the same fixes, that might mean a developer should consider addressing those concerns…
Frame 5:
Rising Up: Sagat bread-and-butter combo guide — Punishes, confirm combos, juggles, & more
… But hey, we finally have Sagat, and Sagat is pretty cool.

Frame 1:
Shovel Knight digs his way into Rivals of Aether
I don’t know how tacky it is to link to my own Twitter, so here, for prosperity sake, is what I wrote in March: “The year is 2030, Shovel Knight is in every fighting game, TV show, book, restaurant. Our economy is Shovel Knight. I am Shovel Knight, and so are you.”
Frame 2:
dantarion graphs PC Fighting game player retention examined on Steam platform
dantarion’s study is fascinating, but it also just blows me away that these numbers are now “small” in some people’s eyes. My arcade-goer reflex was to respond “I was lucky if someone else showed up to the arcade that day.”
Frame 3:
2-Hour Tekken 7 master class teaches the fundamentals of the sword-wielding cephalopod, Yoshimitsu
That Blasted Salami’s character breakdowns are easily the toppest of top tier productions in our community.
Frame 4:
Cooperation Cup returns for its 17th installment of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike action on January 5 to 6, 2019
Cooperation Cup is the longest-running best argument to play any particular title in the FGC. Every community can learn something from this incredible event. I don’t even like 3S and am glued to it every year.
Frame 5:
The NEO GEO World Tour Finals approaches on August 25th
Speaking of great tournaments — I have high hopes that the world finals will cap off the NGWT well. I would love for more companies to support older titles the way SNK has here.
