Despite all that’s come to Dragon Ball FighterZ, series lead character Goku is still a solid fighter. While not one of the ones at the top of most tier lists, he’s still considered viable for competitive play.
In a recent series of videos, combo video genius Final Showdown has been exploring some of the things Goku can do in a series of short combo videos. The stuff in the videos below include combo routes explored in the search for the maximum optimal damage off of a low in the corner, meterless corner carries, and some really hard links.
This past weekend, the 2018Injustice 2 Pro Series finally headed into cyberspace, with the Online Cup for Western North America. Heroes and villains from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Oregon, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, in the United States, as well as the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut were eligible to compete for those integral IPS points to make it into the Finals later this year. In the end, 63 players showed up to battle for supremacy, as well as the lion’s share of the $1,000 prize pool for top 8.

The next online event will be for Europe on Sunday, August 19th, with players from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Ukraine being eligible. Registration is live at smash.gg. It will start at 1:00 PM and will be streamed at twitch.tv/netherrealm, mixer.com/netherrealm, as well as the InjusticeGame YouTube channel and Injustice Facebook page. A €1,000 prize pool will also be split among the top 8, along with Leaderboard points.
Whenever Bob Sagat — the Dutch combo video master — releases a new video, it’s always a treat. Having focused mostly on the Street Fighter II series, he always finds interesting scenarios and interactions to behold. While very few things could ever be practical — the entirety of this video being done using tool-assisted emulators — it is certainly entertaining.
Not only does it show amazing glitches and interactions in game, it also shows interesting character select glitches that few knew about. The video actually concludes with Street Fighter II: Champion Edition combos that only work on Dhalsim — who can be juggled like a Tekken character in the game.
In an attempt to provide aspiring players with a starting point for learning specific characters, BlazBlue YouTuber Koefficient has been steadily releasing characters tutorials for various cast members, with his latest focusing on Under Night In-Birth’s “Harvester of Greed,” Gordeau.
In the 26-minute guide, Koefficient fully covers all of Gordeau’s normals, specials, assists, Distortion Skills and Astral Heat, demonstrating various situations of each attack’s utility. He also discusses how best to play the Grim Reaper, his pros and cons, as well as suggesting possible teammates for him that could complement him. At the time of this writing he has also covered all four members of Team RWBY, as well as Hyde Kido and Orie, with the hopes of finishing the remaining cast members before the next round of DLC characters drop.

As recently reported, HiFight has released their own fundamentalized, footsies-based fighting game, simply called Footsies. Now, for anyone who saw the game’s simple control scheme and thought “this would be perfect for mobile,” it turns out you’re absolutely right.
HiFight has announced that Footsies is now available for mobile devices running on Android OS. The game’s mobile version features the same gameplay as the PC original. However, it makes use of the mobile touch screen format to allow for two players to play on a single device!
FOOTSIES v1.0.2 is now available on Android Play Store!!!!
As you can see from the tweet above, multiplayer takes advantage of the mobile touch screen format, using it to create a split screen, head-to-head layout. Both players simply hold different ends of the device to literally face off against each other.
alb3530 has discovered a curious quirk in Cody’s V-Trigger II — “Dirty Coach” — for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. For some inexplicable reason, it would seem that his V-Trigger II st.HP refills the V-Trigger timer — if it Crush Counters.
This may or may not be a glitch. It appears to only happen with this particular Crush Counter, and the amount of V-Gauge it raises it is not something that could be called game-breaking. Still, it’s good information to have — Cody’s st.HP Pipe is a good poke and anything that extends your time with V-Trigger being active is valuable.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is the youngest game to enter the main stage of Evolution 2018, and so its first year will be sort of a test run. One of the prevailing topics in the community has been whether the game should berun as 3 out of 5 rounds, particularly since every fight is just one “match,” and some of those can go by quickly. While some have been pushing for that to be the case, there’s an official response from Mr. Wizard and Tom Cannon: the game will run at 2 out of 3 rounds due to time constraints.
Here’s the reasoning Tom Cannon provided via Twitter:
Evo BBTag pools rules: 24 players per pool. 4 game setups per pool. Top 3 per pool advance. To run this pool from 24 -> 3 players, it takes 12 "waves" of players playing on the 4 setups.
Multiply by 12 waves and we get 2 hrs, 6 min, 7 secs. At Evo we must complete each pool in 1 hr, 45 min to stay on schedule. So, running 3/5 would put us roughly 21 minutes behind schedule for every round of pools! And this is if everything runs perfectly and on time.
On the bright side, the interest in BBTAG is quite noticeable; I’m not sure anyone predicted that over 1,000 people would be entering the Evo 2018 tournament. If you’re not one of those, make haste, as there is still time to register for Evo 2018.
BlazBlue tag battle has over 1k entries. We are going to keep pools 2/3 for now, and if we see a significant amount of matches coming in quickly, we will re-evaluate moving everything to 3/5 for quarters and semis.
