Mui Mui officially announced for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

Some time back, the trophy list for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy hinted at a couple of characters being added into the game… now, SNK has officially announced another one of them via a new trailer.

Joining the cast of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is Mui Mui, originally from the SNK pachislot game Dragon Gal. First making her fighting game debut in The King of Fighters XIV, Mui Mui seems to retain most of her stuff from that game — albeit adapted to the new game’s control scheme.

What she does gain are a couple of absurdly cute costumes: one being the expected panda outfit, and one that seems to have all the ruffles in the world on it. Check out the trailer below.

With this, it seems that it’s only a matter of time before we find out how exactly Terry fits into a game supposedly featuring an all-female cast!

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy launches on Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 6 in Japan, and September 7 in the West.

We already knew that My Hero One’s Justice — the upcoming arena fighter from Bandai Namco, based on My Hero Academia — was expected to land sometime in October; that has now been narrowed down to a specific date: fans can “go beyond” on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on October 26, 2018.

Additionally, pre-orders of the title will include “Flame Hero” Endeavor as a bonus playable character — so don’t delay in pledging your allegiance to the United States of Smash if you want to play as All Might’s rival, with his “Hellflame” Quirk!

Gran Torino and Muscular were also recently revealed for the game, and the press release offers some tidbits on the story mode:

MY HERO ONE’S JUSTICE gives players the opportunity to experience iconic moments from the MY HERO series like never before, featuring a Story Mode played from the perspective of both the Heroes and the Villains. In addition to the unique story, the game also offers a robust character customization system, enabling players to put their own quirky twists on each Hero and Villain uniform with costume pieces from across the MY HERO universe, such as Eraserhead’s glasses, Katsuki Bakugo’s gauntlets, and even a leg-hugging Minoru Mineta plush.

Wind Priestess Talim makes her return for SoulCalibur VI

Evasion lovers, rejoice, for the Wind Priestess is back!

Talim is officially making her grand return to SoulCalibur VI. Her absence in SCV was, similarly to Zasalamel’s, frustrating for players dedicated to her unique moveset.

Not only is she returning with her Wind Sault/Charmer Stances, it’s looking like they will be deadlier than ever before: she has some new transitions from powerful staples like 33A, and her Soul Charge gives her access to dizzily long attack strings that seem to cancel back into Wind Charmer.

SoulCalibur VI tornadoes onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19th.

Enjoy some Japanese BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle action from the YOSHIMOTO Gaming Pro selection competiton

Late last moth, we brought you a tier list from Kubo, a top Japanese Under Night In-Birth and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax player, who some are already describing as “the best BBTAG player in Japan.” Now you can get a taste of some international action, as some of Japan’s finest from multiple Arc System Works titles couldn’t escape from Crossing Fate at the YOSHIMOTO Gaming Pro selection competition. This event featured Kubo, rocking his deadly team of Ruby Rose and Hyde Kido, as well as notable fighters ROW, Senaru, Damosu, Koichi, Ho-Chan, KoujiKOG, ZackyWild, Minami, Hifumi, Tarou, Yukia, Jyudou and many more.

With ASW’s tag team crossover title recently supplanting Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as currently the fifth-largest game at Evo 2018, it’s very likely that we could see a lot of these faces battling in Las Vegas this August. In fact, the winner of this event received a sponsorship to Evo courtesy of YOSHIMOTO Gaming. You can see the full tournament — which clocks in at around four-and-a-half hours in total — below. Uploader HYDEGaming1 has included timestamps for each match for your convenience, while commentator Shirtaker has provided us with the names of each player, and a list of the individual match-ups, making it extremely easy to find your favorite players quickly.

What are your thoughts on the level of competition and team compositions compared to some of the American play we’ve seen at Northwest Majors and CEO recently? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section.

Street Fighter Carnival 11 continues with Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, Double Dragon tournaments

Street Fighter Carnival 11 is Mikado Arcade’s currently-ongoing, month-long, multi-game tournament series for a wide variety of classic (and sometimes, obscure) arcade titles. This series is well under way, so start from the beginning if you want to catch up!

Today’s entry is the Technōs Japan-developed Double Dragon fighting game from 1995, whose rights are now owned by none other then Arc System Works. Do you think the only reason they got the rights to it is because it has double jumps and air blocking?

After that is Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, a criminally underrated and underutilized title from Capcom. This 2D fighter has incredible mobility and full-screen footsies, and you can read more about its game-play over on the SRK Wiki.

You can follow the action of SFC11 by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel. For the night owls in the US, you can even try to catch them when they livestream.

Catch some retro touches of death with these combos from Fighter’s History

These are combos that Capcom never wanted you to see!

Most people in later generations are oblivious to Data East’s Fighter’s History franchise. The series only spanned two titles in a handful of years, and got a bad reputation in its inaugural release by Capcom — who unsuccessfully attempted to sue for copyright infringement.

While the game never took off, it had some interesting mechanics to it, and later carved out its own niche with its sequel — Karnov’s Revenge. But in the original, touches-of-death were abound, and this clip shows exactly how dangerous any touch could be.

Behold these blessed combos from ETCChile for Jesus in the Early Access fighter “Fight of Gods”

You may not believe me, but Fight of Gods existed before they revealed Jesus would be joining their roster last year. You may also not believe that “The Little Unity Fighter That Could” is still going strong on the Steam platform, having just updated the game with several balance changes here. This is all despite its early access state and, uh, work-in-progress assets.

But even now, Jesus still brings interest to the game by virtue of simply existing as a playable character. Here’s Mortal Kombat specialist group ETCChile exploring Jesus’ combo possibilities, which are made up of Rekka’s, juggle loops, and of course — please forgive us, lord — cross-ups.

Fight of Gods is in Early Access on Steam.
