BlazBlue: Central Fiction Es combo video displays the power of the Azure Guardian

Cool combo videos for BlazBlue: Central Fiction aren’t stopping any time soon. This time, Kalibur has released a brand new Es combo video: the Central Fiction newcomer certainly turned out to be a popular character, and definitely became stronger once the 2.0 patch came out.

Kalibur shows off their prowess with Es, making these sequences look easy — though they certainly aren’t. There’s a few unusual routes that result in unexpected resets, which net another combo against an unsuspecting opponent. The video also plays well with those transitions, like in the moment when Noel gets hit by a Fatal Counter attack, ending in a double Distortion Drive.

Enjoy the dynamic combo video below, and if you would like more BlazBlue content, check out Monarch’s Izayoi combo video as well.

He wants to be the strongest Broly in the world: BornFree talks to Dogura about Dragon Ball FighterZ at Final Round 2018

Could Dragon Ball FighterZ be as big — or bigger — than Street Fighter V? Dogura seems to think so!

BornFree caught up with 3rd-place DBFZ finisher Dogura at Final Round 2018 to chat about anything and everything Dragon Ball FighterZ. Dogura talks about how seeing GO1’s Vegeta in action made him decide he needed the Prince of Saiyans on his own team, as well as how he likes to watch Nakkiel for Kid Buu tips. But Dogura is most excited for the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly (now available as DLC!), as he’s already a fan of the character — so much so that he’d take great pride in being the best Broly in the world.

They talk about this, and much more — such as Dogura’s thoughts on other DBFZ characters’ strengths, and the potential for Dragon Ball FighterZ to match Street Fighter V in FGC popularity — in the interview below!

Dragon Ball FighterZ video roundup: Early Bardock and Broly combos, GO1’s DLC gameplay, and more!

Alright, Dragon Ball FighterZ fans. The first DLC characters for one of the biggest games of this decade is here — and considering the legacy of these characters, we should expect to see some ridiculous tech develop for both of them over time. Let’s see what the community has cooked up for Broly and Bardock thus far:

SitverGold starts us off with an excellent demonstration of Broly’s ability to combo multiple level 3s easily.

In general, you can easily dump your meter with Broly to blow up lifebars, as demonstrated by COMBONAUTS.

SatanicGoomba shares some mid-screen and corner combos for the Saiyan of legend.

But hopefully you don’t auto-assume that Broly is the only worthwhile DLC in this group — Persona Entertainment shows off this Sparking-consuming touch-of-death combo for Bardock:

But if you’re the sort that likes to jump in and learn via gameplay, there probably isn’t a better early source of inspiration than GO1, who is already tearing people up with Broly and Bardock online.

Thanks to everyone that has Spirit Bomb’d a tip in! If you see something that you think is worth sharing, be sure to lend us your energy here.

Sonic Fox tries out a PlayStation 4 pad prototype that could be much better for fighting game players

Despite the popularity of the arcade stick for fighting games, there are still plenty of pad warriors out there. While there are some custom offerings out there, many stick to the mainstream products from console providers like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo — but it’s not always a great solution. Some prefer PlayStation 3 pads over its latest generation, and some like even older ones.

Echo Fox|Sonic Fox recently posted a video showcasing a special prototype of an off-brand PS4 pad. He compares it to a Hitbox controller, because every button is actually isolated. He showcases this with the D-pad in particular. On a regular PS4 pad, it’s easy to accidentally get a neighboring input — either up or down — while pressing back. This can’t happen on this special pad from Battle Beaver Customs, and Sonic Fox says it makes his inputs a lot cleaner.

He also posted a video showing how much easier it is to Korean backdash in Tekken 7 with this pad:

This prototype isn’t available to purchase right now, but Battle Beaver Customs definitely feels encouraged by the feedback received from Sonic Fox:

Learn a bit more about Noctis Lucis Caelum and how he came to be a DLC fighter for Tekken 7

Can the King of Fishing also become the King of Iron Fist?

tekken 7 noctis reveal name card

Those that weren’t already fans of the Final Fantasy franchise — and Final Fantasy XV in particular — might still be wondering where this feathery-haired pretty boy comes from, and why he’s a guest fighter in Tekken 7 next to Akuma and Geese Howard. In this brief interview video from Bandai Namco, Tekken developer Katsuhiro Harada and Hajime Tabata from Square Enix talk a little bit about who Noctis is, and why they feel he’s a natural fit for Tekken 7.

Of course, the video above only superficially explains who Noctis is — but not why he loves fishing, what an “Armiger” is, and what the deal is with that strange Kenny Crow statue… the best way to get those details is to play Final Fantasy XV. Otherwise, you can still enjoy his unusual — and effective — fighting abilities in the Tekken 7 DLC3.

ELEAGUE’s Street Fighter V 2018 Invitational showcases five nights of action with a $250,000 prize

After last year’s ELEAGUE Street Fighter V action, it’s time to rekindle the high-octane esports event for the Arcade Edition of the game. The esports organization is now announcing their Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition 2018 invitational, that pits high-level competitors against a high-stakes prize: $250,000, as well as fame and glory, of course.

We don’t know yet who the players are, but the event invites “24 best players from around the world,” so surely many of the prominent SFV competitors that we would expect will be invited. ELEAGUE is partnering up with Twitch and TBS to broadcast the action, starting on Friday, June 1st. Every Friday the matches will be aired on Twitch first, and then later broadcasted on TBS.

That’s not all, however. ELEAGUE’s new component invites fans, amateurs, and other pro competitors to take a stab at the event. The ELEAGUE x Battlefy: Street Fighter V Open uses the Battlefy platform to host online tournaments to determine two ultimate winners, who will receive a sponsored trip to Atlanta for the Grand Finals. The Battlefy Open involves two seasons over five consecutive weekends. An optional preseason event on April 14th and 15th will explain the platform in more detail.

In addition, there will be several variety shows on TBS, listed below under “Featured Shows”:

Stay tuned to Shoryuken as we learn more information about the event and the 24 competing players.

Blanka shows off newly-discovered tech in Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Blanka has long been considered at the bottom of the tier list in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. That may not change regardless of what is discovered with the character, but for those masochistic enough to play the character despite his flaws, he just gained slightly more viability.

In a video uploaded on Twitter from Japan, we see that Blanka has high profile properties on his standing roundhouse. What this allows him to do is go over some low attacks, including Sagat’s low Tiger Shots. This new tech being discovered now is amazing, given the age of the game!

Combonauts heats up Dragon Ball FighterZ with this amazing combo video

When you see a Combonauts combo video, you know you’re getting into a quality release. With their focus on nothing but impractical and crazy combo videos, you’ll be seeing the peak of execution and the flaunting of the game mechanics to the max.

This is no exception, as we see some amazing content here for Dragon Ball FighterZ. We see combos featuring Hit, Nappa and Captain Ginyu — and we also see Cell pull of an amazing DHC into Sparking, showing off just how versatile this game system really can be.

New “Rotate Cancel” glitch discovered in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle

It wasn’t that long ago that we signal-boosted the tireless work of GreenPoolBall and others in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Discord for advancing the meta of a game they clearly loved. In this article, it was explained that there’s a considerable depth and difficultly to damage output in ASB far beyond the auto-combos most new players used.

There’s an amusing irony, then, that the latest tech discovered for this 2013 fighter has inadvertently made auto-combos much stronger, to the point that for at least a few characters, it may become the preferred path for damage and pressure.

The “Rotate” button — which normally is only used for sidestepping — can be combined with other moves during the auto-combo to make that move cancelable into attacks it technically shouldn’t be. This results in normal>normal and special>special cancels normally not possible, as evidenced in the above video examples.

It’s currently unknown to what extent this will reshape combos used by the community — not every special move can take advantage of this glitch. However, it’s safe to say that some of the above examples are already quite practical — particularly when used to destroy the opponent’s guard bar.
