FGC YouTuber and longtime Juri main JusticeSoulTuna is one guy looking forward to his primary character’s upcoming buffs in Street fighter V: Arcade Edition. Juri is a character that has suffered from critical nerfs in the past, but looking at Capcom’s recently released patch notes, JusticeSoulTuna feels like these new adjustments my just put her back in the game.
Whether these buffs are enough to push Juri up a tier is definitely up for discussion, and a discussion is exactly what Justice intends to have. While he is — like other Juri mains may be — pretty excited, he concedes that his giddiness may be premature, as he lists and analyzes the improvements.
Check out JusticeSoulTuna’s thoughts on the new Juri buffs below, and if you’re still confused about what makes a character good or bad, check out TrueUnderDawgGaming’s video on the subject.

It’s hard to be the king. This is a lesson that Chile’s ZeRo has learned from his consistent reign at the top of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. But it looks like a new king will be crowned in 2018, as ZeRo has taken to Twitter to announce he will take a step away from competing this year.
Saying that consulting people’s opinions showed his own insecurity in his decisions, he states in an open letter that he was beginning to hate doing what had defined him. While he states he will not pull away from Smash completely — and would return to competing, if a brand new Smash game were to be released on the Nintendo Switch — he intends to remain in the United States and begin streaming.
Along with the release of PGRv4 I am also announcing the future of my competitive journey in Smash 4. I've attached 3 more pictures to this tweet which contain my letter to the Smash community.

Latin America has become recently well known for its high-caliber Street Fighter players, and all eyes are now on the region — the home of Capcom Cup champion MenaRD — to see the direction they’ll take in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
We won’t have to wait too long, as Brazil’s Liga Brasileira in Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the region’s first Arcade Edition event on January 20th. Featured at the event will be DidimoKOF — who went on a tear at Capcom Cup — as well as many others from the region, including Stunner, Paoloweb, and Baby Brasil — a strong F.A.N.G who has twice eliminated Keoma from CPT events. The stream will run on the Promo Arena channel on Twitch at 7:00 AM PT on January 20th.
After an extended hiatus from the FGC, European esports organization Dignitas has signed Hugo “HugS” Gonzales to signal their return to the scene, and their entry into the world of Super Smash Bros. HugS is a true veteran in the world of Super Smash Bros. Melee, having competed at tournaments since 2004. During his career, he’s become one of the best Samus players in the world, inspiring many players to don the Varia Suit and fire off some charge shots.
A constant presence in the top 30, HugS is currently ranked 23rd in the world, with high placings at events like GT-X 2017, Low Tier City 5 and The Bigger Balc proving that this old man can still keep up with the new generation. HugS will sport the black and yellow at Genesis 5 next weekend.
The last fighting game player Dignitas had under their banner was Ryan Hart, who was released from the team in February of 2015 as Digntias focused their energies into PC esports. With successful teams in games like CS:GO, Smite, Heroes of the Storm and PUBG, we may see Dignitas expanding into further fighting games in 2018.
Enchantress has just released for Injustice 2, and people will be looking to get a leg up on the competition with her. Fortunately, TrueUnderDawg has released this great guide that breaks her down.
With great strings and a Trait that controls spacing really well in a multitude of ways, Enchantress has the potential to be a really strong character. She also has a few interesting mix-ups that will work early on due to character unfamiliarity, but may wear off as people grow accustomed to fighting against her.
Also, here are two combo videos for Enchantress to get you started on your way:
Finally, here are some mix-ups that will help you out. When combined with all of the above, this should give your Enchantress some amazing week one power.
January is sure a busy month for fighting games, and while many turn their attention to Dragon Ball FighterZ, we can’t forget about Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, which will finally be unleashed on the PlayStation 4 on January 30th. In the meantime, everyone can test out the game for free, if they own a console!
The open beta — which has just launched — will feature 15 rotating characters, unlockable gear, weapons, and skills, and two gameplay modes: Ranked Match for online battles and Gauntlet for offline duels against AI. Note that any progress won’t be carried over should you decide to purchase the full game.
The open beta will last until January 21st; the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT official website has a breakdown of which characters will be available during certain windows.
When you’re ready to jump in, visit the Official PlayStation Store page to download the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT open beta client. Note that a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to play!
Despite having more Rage Arts then the majority of the cast in Tekken 7, Geese Howard’s set of RAs are some of the more difficult to use in the game. Rashomon is a slow, unblockable high that will rarely hit anyone that knows its gimmick, and Deadly Rave requires a finesse that is a little different from other move execution in Tekken. To actually threaten anyone with your RAs as Geese, you have no choice but to learn to combo into them.
While we have featured many more complex Geese videos here at SRK, it’s more important to have practical-yet-powerful combos first. Peter Souvannarath‘s latest video aims to help new Geese players spend their Rage Arts wisely in combos, instead of as an easily-defeated Hail Mary.
Rounding out his currently-released character breakdowns for Dragon Ball FighterZ, based on his recent trip to the Bandai Namco Entertainment America offices, Maximilian examines the final antagonist of Dragon Ball Z — and another member of the open beta — Kid Buu.
As expected, this “pure” form of Majin Buu, free of the influence of the Grand Supreme Kai, differs from his more portly, “innocent” incarnation in a wide variety of ways. His signature Mystic Ball Attack can be preformed both on the ground and in the air, serving as Kid’s go-to combo ender, with the Heavy/EX version putting foes in a juggle state for further extensions, in a similar manner to Cell.
Kid’s Mystic Arm Grab in an anti-air command grab that bears similarities to Super-Skrull’s Elastic Slam in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It appears to only be a hitgrab, but can be comboed into after a couple of his long-range, launching, sweeps. Kid Buu’s Candy Beam appears to be a solid projectile, though it doesn’t have any healing properties like Majin Buu’s Level 3.
His most interesting special appears to be his Arm Ball, where Kid tosses out a projectile that hovers around his opponents, before striking them multiple times. This will leave them in a good period of hitstun and a restand state, affording Kid plenty of time to call Assists, rush in with a quick super dash to pile on the damage, or to even tag out when the pressure’s on him. Lastly, Kid has the Majin Kamehameha, that can only be performed when airborne.
As for his Supers, Kid Buu’s first Level 1, inherited from Super Buu, is the Human Extinction Attack. This sees Kid fire several energy waves from his left palm, littering the screen with raining projectiles — which can also hit on the way up — making them comparable to a Super version of Doctor Doom’s Hidden Missiles. This could prove a fantastic DHC option for any Team. The Pearl Flash augments Kid’s aerial conversions, but can also be performed grounded.
Finally, his Level 3, the iconic Planet Burst, has the utility of being usable both on the ground and in air (unlike most Level 3s), affording Kid some massive damage conversions if he has the Ki to spare.
As always, you can see more of Max’s thoughts and footage in the video below, as well as links to all previously-covered breakdowns below.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released outside of the Japan for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Friday, January 26th, with a Japanese release for the same platforms following on Thursday, February 1st.
