Players and creators get together for this “community combo video” for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Usually, when we feature combo videos, these are the work of one singular creator; this new combo video for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite however isn’t the work on one person alone. Rather, it’s the result of a number of creators banding together to create one massive combo video.

The combo video below isn’t the first community combo video complied by Jako Man. Prior to this, he’s done similar projects for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. This video represents his first one for the new game.

Check out this new video below. We’ve also compiled a list of all the creators after the video.

Square Enix to host a Dissidia Final Fantasy NT pre-launch stream

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is launching on PlayStation 4 in Japan on Thursday, January 11th. To help ring in the game’s launch, Square Enix will be hosting a special, pre-launch stream the day before on Wednesday, January 10th.

The pre-launch stream is scheduled for 8:00 PM Japan time (3:00 AM Pacific), and will be viewable on both YouTube and Niconico. Hosting the stream will be Yamazaki Baron, and he’ll be joined by Dissidia Final Fantasy NT producer Ichiro Hazama and director Takeo Kujiraoka.

The stream itself will discuss and introduce gameplay secrets. In addition to this, they’ll also bring up some new information pertaining to both Dissidia Final Fantasy NT on PlayStation 4 and the original arcade version Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

As mentioned above, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for PlayStation 4 launches in Japan on January 11. The western release for the game will follow on January 30. Prior to this, Square Enix is also hosting a series of open betas for the game, with Japan having theirs on January 6 and 7, followed by the West on January 12 to 21.

Bandai Namco Europe on whether or not Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is in the Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta

With Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s open beta taking place this weekend, many are wonder whether or not certain characters will be playable in it. One of the those characters is the Super Saiyan Blue version of Vegeta, who recently received a gameplay trailer.

Recently, a fan named Slicktactics was asking about the appearance of Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta in the beta, and Bandai Namco Europe actually answered them:

Sadly, the answer wasn’t the one that Slicktactics (and I’m sure other fans of the character) wanted to hear. Bandai Namco Europe has stated that Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is not in the beta.

So there it is. Anyone looking forward to playing Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta will have to wait a little bit more. Of course, considered that early unlocks for Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta and Super Saiyan Blue Goku in the full game are pre-order bonuses, this really isn’t that surprising.

Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s open beta runs from January 14 to January 15, with pre-orders getting to play early on January 13. The game itself launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26 in the West, and February 1 in Japan.

Become master of the Dragon Balls with the Pacific Northwest’s Budokai League

For future Dragon Ball FighterZ players living in the Pacific Northwest, there’s a tournament series waiting for you. Called the Budokai League, this series will see players trying to collect seven Dragon Balls from winning tournaments dotted around the region. If you collect all seven, you will win a flight to any US major of your choosing.

The Dragon Balls will be first distributed among the winners of select monthly tournaments in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. From then on, players can collect a Dragon Ball by either beating a player with a Ball in tournament, or by organizing a special Dragon Ball Match with your region’s Budokai official. Unless you have a Dragon Radar Ticket — which will be given to runners-up of monthlies in the Pacific Northwest — you can only schedule a Dragon Ball match if you yourself have a Dragon Ball to wager.

You can read the full ruleset right here, but if you collect all seven Dragon Balls and manage to keep hold of them after two Dragon Ball Matches, the eternal dragon Shenron will grant you a free flight to a US major of your choice. This league is certainly a cool concept, and I hope other regions will take on this format to build hype for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

For more information on the Budokai League, follow PNWAirDashers on Twitter. The first Budokai League event will be on February 3rd and players have until July to collect all seven Dragon Balls, before they turn to stone and cannot be used for another year.

SRK Forums to close at the end of January 2018

After serving as a place to meet and discuss fighting games for many years, the SRK Forums will unfortunately be shutting down at the end of January, 2018, due to their gradually decreased use. Tom Cannon offers these words to send off our little piece of FGC history:

Shoryuken.com launched back in 2000 with the title “Your competitive edge.” Back then, it was pretty tough to get accurate information about mysterious fighting techniques like the “kara cancel.” The goal of this site was to allow hard-core fighting game players to connect, both to share strategies and meet up IRL to play.

Nearly 20 years later, the way we as fighting game fans consume information has exploded. We’re lucky to have a wealth of content out there now, from YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, reddit, and more. In a world of highly-connected players, the need for a centralized info hub is greatly diminished. So, it’s time to say goodbye to the SRK forums.

It’s been an epic ride, and I’m glad that we were able to provide a discussion venue for all aspects of the FGC, from tournament strategies, player meetups, stick-building resources, etc. Thanks to everyone out there who spent time on the site.

To help facilitate the transition of content from the forum section to other locations, we’re leaving the forum site open until the end of the month. Front page news and editorial content will continue as normal. We appreciate your readership, and encourage you to look forward to new content from Shoryuken throughout 2018.

VesperArcade breaks down what has been revealed from the early copy of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

It was the reddit post that led us first into disbelief, then into excitement. That person who found an early copy of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in his recently-purchased Street Fighter V case at Wal-Mart has given us a lot of insight into the various features Capcom has incorporated into the title.

Now, VesperArcade is discussing what was discovered in this build: he notes first off the return of player two rematch confirms, something we have long awaited. But he pays particular attention to the built-in frame data viewer, something that he comments will be good for new players and veterans alike. He also talks about the Trials featured in Volume 3, commenting not only on the fact that these seem to be more practical as bread-and-butter combos, but also allude to what changes some of the characters received in the Season 3 patch.

Exciting video promo highlights Guilty Gear XX Accent Core action at Evo Japan

Despite the wide availability of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, its predecessor Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is still getting action around the world. Whether it’s via its various dedicated communities around the world, Evolution side tournaments, or arcades in Japan, AC+R, the game still has plenty of veterans enjoying the high octane, complex 2D action that the XX series provided.

As Evo Japan is coming up, AnimEVO is hosting a number of side games that aren’t for the main stage. Japanese fighting game community member, Hero, made an exciting promo that highlights the GGXX AC+R event. It’s a quality video animation that shows off the XX cast (which isn’t entirely in Xrd yet!) and hypes up the event. It’s good to see attention drawn to this side event, as the Japanese level of play in this game is still extremely high, so it will be quite the show.

Stay tuned to SRK and visit the Evo Japan website to stay informed about the upcoming event.

SoulCalibur VI will be playable at Evo Japan, on January 26-28

Very few people have had the chance to play Namco’s latest entry to its weapons-based fighter series, SoulCalibur VI. The game seemed in its infancy at its most recent press outings, despite reported claims of it being nearly 70% complete. Luckily, there’s a large event just around the corner for Namco to show off SCVI’s progress: Evo Japan.

During a Japanese Tekken 7 event streamed on Bandai Namco’s official Twitch channel, it was announced that SoulCalibur VI will be playable during Evo Japan 2018. This seems like a likely spot for further revelation on game-play mechanics and new characters, and will be the first time we’ll get to see series producer Motohiro Okubo address an all-FGC crowd, assuming such an announcement takes place.
