Fight Stick Friday! HORI RAP4 Kai Colored Series Now in Stock at Arcade Shock

Limited-edition red, white, and blue variants of the HORI Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai–now in stock and available.

HORI’s Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai is a robust and certainly popular fight stick–its relatively low cost makes it an easy go-to stick for new world warriors. As we previewed back in September, HORI now offers new “Colored Series” variants on the RAP4 Kai, available in red, white, and blue models, as you can see in the gallery below.

They feature HORI’s Hayabusa joystick and matte Hayabusa pushbuttons, and are compatible with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3–and PC via X-Input.

These are now in stock at Arcade Shock, available for $149.99 with same-day shipping. You can get one in time for a fellow fighter on your holiday gift list if you place an order before December 17th. Arcade Shock is also currently offering a flat shipping rate of $14.95 on fight sticks to continental U.S. addresses.

The big draw of the Colored Series is modding of course, since you get three new color schemes to work around! Arcade Shock themselves created this Street Fighter-themed mod using the blue RAP4 Kai and the Street Fighter “chibi” character pushbuttons:

Check Out the Intense Street Fighter V Action from Capcom Cup 2016’s Finals

Capcom Cup was a spectacular display of Street Fighter V skill–and how monstrous a solid R. Mika vortex game can be. It was intense throughout, but the hype culminates in these matches between Liquid|NuckleDu, EG|Ricky Ortiz, and GGP|Kazunoko.

This badass penguin looks ready and willing to dish out some hurt on the Pokémon unfortunate enough to get in its way. Now, we just need The Pokémon Company to bring these new fighters home to the Wii U, already!

The other big bit of re-release-related rumor this week is that Super Smash Bros. Melee may be coming to the Nintendo Switch, thanks to its Virtual Console service. If all goes to plan and there aren’t too many changes, we’ll see the Switch as the future home for all Smash.

supergirl-injustice-2Injustice 2 Will Continue Injustice 1’s Story with Supergirl Playing a “Very Pivotal Role”

One of the most impressive story modes to grace the FGC came from Injustice: Gods Among Us, so it’s good to hear that there are big plans in the works for the sequel–and exciting that a brand new character will be taking centre stage. Here’s hoping it measures up, because it has big boots to fill.

Frame 2:
screenshot-447Get Ready for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite with These Old School Marvel Vs. Series Combo Videos

The Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite hype is sweeping over the FGC, but that shouldn’t mean that we forget the heritage of the series. There’s a reason that everyone is so excited, and this post shows off a whole lot of that reason.

AOne Games Announces Omen of Sorrow, a New Horror-Themed Fighting Game

It’s always exciting when someone new dips a toe into the FGC, and the announcement of Omen of Sorrow looks set to scratch a horror itch that has gone unsatisfied since the last Darkstalkers instalment. It’s early days yet, but there’s plenty to be excited about, and so we’ll just go ahead and get the hype engines turning. Quietly though, since this announcement has been rather overshadowed by a certain other piece of news…

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Revealed at PlayStation Experience, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Coming to PlayStation 4

This was the big one–after a week of rumors and leaks and speculation, the PlayStation Experience opening showcase finally made it official. It’ll be very interesting to see what shape this new game takes until its release sometime in 2017. Meanwhile, those that missed it before can now enjoy UMvC3 in all its glory on the PS4.

Prepare for the Global Finals of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 with This Streaming Schedule and Player List

Even though Tekken 7 isn’t actually out on general release, the world of Tekken is gearing up for the biggest event of the year, with the Global Finals of the King of the Iron Fist tournament happening tomorrow, live from Tokyo. This event comes after multiple qualifiers held all around the world, to decide who is truly the best Tekken 7 player, even though the game is only available in arcades.

To help people organize their viewing for tomorrow, the official Tekken Twitter has released a viewing schedule, with the aid of master FGC statistician acekingoffsuit. The action kicks off at 4:30pm PST/7:30pm EST, with there being a scheduled break after pools play, before top 16 starts at about 7:30pm PST/10:30pm EST. Once the winner has been named, there will be a short awards ceremony and a special Tekken announcement, which will probably be the worldwide release date for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

You can find a picture of who is in which pool below, courtesy of FlyingWonkey. The bracket is dominated by players mainly from Japan and South Korea, with three American representatives and the countries of Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and the Philippines fielding a player each. Street Fighter Goes Presidential as Part of Twitch’s White House Game-a-Thon

Ryu and Ken will soon be visiting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, as Street Fighter V will be featuring in Twitch’s special White House Game-a-thon, on December 12th. Organized by Shaq of all people–who is a part owner of NRG eSports–this special livestream event is to help promote the importance of getting healthcare coverage among gamers, with the event being streamed on the GetCovered Twitch page.

While there will be a host of other games being streamed live from the White House, the most important slot for the FGC will be an exhibition match between Mike Ross and EG|Justin Wong, commentated by gootecks. Who knows, we may even see the current President come round to throw a Shoryuken with Mike and Justin.

The White House Game-a-Thon begins on Monday 12th December at 1pm PST/4pm EST, so tune in to see if an arcade stick goes flying out of the Oval Office and onto the White House lawn, in the event someone gets double-perfected.

Learn the Benefits of Delaying Ibuki’s V-Trigger in Street Fighter V

In this comprehensive lesson from FGC Academy, we learn that sometimes delays can be beneficial–particularly in the case of launching Ibuki’s V-Trigger. Ibuki players already know that the detonation of her bomb can be delayed, but may not have taken the time to fully explore the positive possibilities that arise from it. The video includes combos, mixups, setups, and has notes and references to frame data and damage stats.

Be sure to check out FGC Academy’s YouTube channel for more Street Fighter V character guides.

Rise Up: Capcom Cup 2016 Celebrated with Restrospective Video and Amazing Anthem

Capcom has been pumping up their Pro Tour all year long, mostly using the tournaments themselves to build hype. One side of the community that is rarely touched upon is the musical side; this video highlights many key moments of the event and of the players’ journeys through still images and quick video clips, all played overtop Capcom Cup 2016’s anthem, produced by Cardell.

Check Out These Brawlhalla World Championship 1v1 and 2v2 Highlights

Brawlhalla is a game that falls under the radar for many of us. Being one of the growing library of Super Smash Bros.-styled fighters, it has a bit of a hard time standing out despite its very unique gameplay. Being a game that offers players a lot of customization–both in the character’s appearance and their playstyle–the game has a high satisfaction rate among people who do give it a try.

The World Championship for the game was held last month, though that’s not too far behind for people to still enjoy its matches. Brawlhalla’s YouTube channel just posted the highlights for the tournaments, which are still a thing of beauty to watch.

There was also a 2v2 tournament, similar to the Super Smash Bros tournament standard “Doubles,” which you can enjoy below.

Momochi Talks to Yahoo! Esports About His Career Choices, Capcom Cup and Gaming

While Yusuke Momochi of Evil Geniuses bowed out early in Capcom Cup, failing to make top 8, he has still had a successful year. Between streaming and his Shinobism venture of training newer players, he has had a lot to keep himself busy aside from competing.

Michael Martin of Yahoo! Esports caught up with Momochi at Capcom Cup to talk to him about some of these ventures. They also talked about his progression across multiple numbered Street Fighter titles, his feelings on gaming in general as his stream has focused on other games besides Street Fighter, and whether he will pick up Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
