General: Portal Knights Arrives on Steam Early Access

505 Games has announced that its 3D sandbox action-adventure RPG, Portal Knights, has officially landed in Steam’s Early Access program. Players will craft, battle and build adventures in randomly generated worlds playing as any one of the three character archetypes available at the moment: Warrior, Ranger or Mage.

After a successful Greenlight campaign, Playa Games has announced that Shakes and Fidget has landed on Steam. The new version includes Steam achievements and more. Originally released as a browser MMO in 2009 and quickly became a cross-platform MMO with the launch of tie-in mobile apps.

Maingear has unleashed a pair of VR ready systems with its announcement of the Nomad VR Notebook and the F131 desktop. Both have been designed in collaboration with virtual reality developers and indicate that Maingear is moving to the future in gaming.

Steam has a new, free app that will help virtual reality fans determine if their PC is up to par. Called the SteamVR Performance Test, fans can download and run the 2-minute test to check out rendering power. Results will determine whether or not your machine can run VR at 90-fps and if “visual fidelity” can be raised to the recommended level. If not, the app will reveal what is holding your system back from compatibility.
