Red Bull joins esports team Tempo Storm in an official partnership

Tempo Storm and Red Bull Esports have come together for mutual benefit.

Esports team Tempo Storm has now formed an official partnership with Red Bull, due to appreciation of Red Bull Esports’ contributions to the competitive esports landscape — and they’re fans of Red Bull’s energy drink products too, it seems. Tempo Storm will benefit from Red Bull’s campus: with a production studio for content creation and events, top-of-the-line equipment for esports preparation, and a state-of-the-art training facility — to ensure that the partnership “is not just about gaming, but about lifestyle.” You can hear what the team has to say about this joining of forces in the video below:

Andrey Yanyuk, Chief Executive Officer of Tempo Storm has this to say about the new partnership:

This partnership with Red Bull is something we’ve been working on for a very long time, and I couldn’t be more excited to get started.

Red Bull has been doing amazing stuff in the space with event production, content creation, and athlete performance; I can’t wait to do more of that stuff directly with them, now that Tempo Storm and Red Bull are officially working together.

Red Bull has already been helping our players a lot at events like Evo. We have a lot of cool stuff in the works when it comes to content and big events we’re going to host together.

Their priorities and values really align with everything we believe in, and this is one of the sponsors I’m most excited to announce since the inception of Tempo Storm. These guys really understand the space, and they’re doing great stuff for it; I’m excited to see what we can do together.

About Tempo Storm:

Tempo Storm is a global professional esports franchise at the forefront of the industry, leading strategic minds across the vast field of gaming.

Founded by Andrey Yanyuk (“reynad”) out of his own pocket, the roster now stands among the most decorated of teams in esports, including championships in world-class tournaments; and features some of the best competitors and broadcast personalities in Hearthstone, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, World of Warcraft, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, Vainglory, the Fighting Game Community (FGC), and FIFA.

Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay from Game Informer: Tien, Yamcha, and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku & Vegeta

Game Informer’s month of exclusive coverage of the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ continues. After showcasing some character breakdowns for the new quartet of Yamcha, Tien Shinhan and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta, as well as scoring interviews with Christopher R. Sabat and producers Ryo Mito and Masayuki Hirano about the future of the franchise, they return with two full matches of gameplay.

These bouts showcase SSGSS Vegeta, the unfinished Tien, and Frieza battling SSGSS Goku, the similarly-incomplete Yamcha, and Perfect Cell on the infamous World Tournament stage; as well as Android 16, Android 18, and SSGSS Vegeta going to war against Tien, Yamcha, and SSGSS Goku on the newly-revealed Islands stage (which includes a stage transition into the Rocky Field (Noon) arena). You can get a good look at how all four of these new challengers play below.

In addition, Game Informer included a compilation off all of the game’s Level 3 Supers (though they mistakenly omitted Frieza’s Nova Strike and “You Should Be Killed By Me!” as well as the alternate version of Accel Dance, that 18 performs alongside her husband Krillin).

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released on February 1st, 2018 in Japan for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. A North American and European release for those same platforms will follow soon afterwards. For more DBFZ action, don’t forget to check out the game’s two newest fighters, Nappa and Captain Ginyu, here.

SuperData Research has a new report, most of which we can view, that contains some really interesting factoids about Gaming Video Content, or GVC. It will probably come as no surprise that 665M people regularly watch GVC with 46% Female and 54% male viewership. In addition, the average income is around $58K per year. These folks, according to the report, are watching GVC rather than primetime television, a startling shift from past eras.

V-Jump reveals information about the RPG mechanics and plot of Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Story Mode

As you saw with the reveal of Captain Ginyu and Nappa yesterday, the latest issue of V-Jump has been a Dragon Ball FighterZ info blowout. Along with showing off these two new characters, this issue has finally given fans some concrete details on DBFZ’s Story Mode, including hints at the plot and some of the special mechanics that will exist in this “what-if” story.

If you read our article on Christopher Sabat’s Game Informer interview about Dragon Ball FighterZ, you will know that Bandai Namco and Arc System Works are leaning heavily on the fourth wall when it comes to the Story Mode. Well, it turns out that the plot revolves around each of the Z-Warriors falling unconscious, and waking up with the player in control of them. It’s your goal to get to the bottom of this mystery, while gathering all of the Z-Fighters together to battle the mysterious clone army, as seen in the initial Story Mode trailer.

The plot reminds me a lot of the spin-off manga The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha, where an avid Dragon Ball fan wakes up in the body of Yamcha and uses his knowledge of the DBZ story to defeat every villain. Hopefully, the Yamcha portion of the story may reference this for the hardcore DB fans out there.

As for what you do in Story Mode, players hop around a world map, defeating enemies and gaining XP as you go. You can use XP to either unlock special Story Mode only skills or simply to level your characters up to the highest point. If you use certain characters for long enough, you can start to listen in on their inner thoughts and hear what they’re really thinking.

Finally, V-Jump reveals that the Story Mode is actually split into three separate scenarios. The main scenario has you following Goku and the Z-Warriors, the second has you taking over Freeza’s body while the final scenario has the players linking up with Android 18. The Freeza scenario looks to be the dedicated “gag” scenario, while Android 18’s scenario has her exploring “hidden memories” about her past. This will no doubt delve into how she and 17 met Dr. Gero and maybe her link to the mysterious Android 21.

You can check out all of the Story Mode scans below, which have been graciously translated by ShonenGamez. Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to launch February 1st 2018 in Japan, so expect news on a Western release date sometime in the near future.

All Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite DLC characters are immediately legal at Battle for the Stones events

We’re halfway through Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite‘s Battle for the Stones circuit, but the action’s just heating up — with a new announcement shaking this weekend’s literal quest for Power to its very core.

While the Space, Soul, and Time Stones have been acquired by Robert “Sacktap” Capps, Rise|Richard Nguyen, and GodsGardenPro’s Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue respectively, there are still three more of the Infinite Six to be contested for, along with a trio of online qualifiers for North America, Europe, and Latin America — with the battles continuing at this weekend’s Red Bull Proving Grounds this Saturday, October 21st.

An interesting occurrence has arisen, as the game’s first three Season 1 DLC characters, Sigma, Black Panther, and Monster Hunter were released on the 18th, raising some concerns over how they’ll impact the upcoming competitions. In a surprising — yet simultaneously exciting — development, the official Marvel vs. Capcom Facebook page has confirmed that all three of these new challengers will be stepping into the ring this weekend; they, along with future DLC fighters Black Widow, Winter Soldier, and Venom will not be subject to the two-week ban seen in Street Fighter V‘s Capcom Pro Tour. They will be officially unleashed upon the competitive circuit the instant they join the roster.

So sharpen your claws, equip your finest arsenals, and prepare to spread the Sigma Virus, as these three fighters could make quite the impact on the remaining Battle for the Stones tour.

What do you think of this unique development? Are you in favor of it, or do you believe these three should be forced to sit out a battle or two, just like their SFV counterparts? Weigh in in the comments section below.

– The Boyfriend Dungeon Lets You Date Your Weapons…Yes, Really

Kitfox Games has probably earned the weirdest game of the week title — maybe even for the month…or year. In a new trailer, the team has revealed its new procedurally generated dungeon crawler called The Boyfriend Dungeon. In a nutshell, you run through randomly generated dungeons slaying monsters and so forth. But, when finished, you use your gold to…well…date your weapon. You can choose from four different weapons, each with its own gender and personality. Seriously, we can’t make it up.
