Cammy’s classic Super Street Fighter II stage returns in Street Fighter V as the English Manor

Another classic Street Fighter locale joins Street Fighter V‘s stage selection screen.

This morning, when Capcom announced the selection of DLC content coming to Street Fighter V tomorrow (September 26), they revealed a stage called “English Manor” that sounded very familiar — the Capcom-Unity blog has since been updated and confirms that yes, the English Manor is indeed Cammy’s classic haunt from her Super Street Fighter II debut.

The English Manor joins the nostalgic Suzaku Castle, Air Force Base, Temple Hideout, Flamenco Tavern, and High Roller Casino stages in SFV; Capcom certainly seems committed to giving all (or at least most) of the game’s fighters their classic stages back in SFV.

Cammy fans will also have three new premium costumes to pick up for her tomorrow — a school uniform, her Doll outfit, and her Street Fighter IV alternate:

– MMO Bookclub Celebrating 6 Months with New Game Vote

The MMO Bookclub is celebrating its six month anniversary and is ready to enter its fifth “cycle” where participants choose the next game that everyone will play. Previously, club members played Lord of the Rings Online, WildStar, Elder Scrolls Online and TERA. This time, voters will choose between Guild Wars 2, Secret World Legends, DC Universe Online, EverQuest, RuneScape, ArcheAge, World of Warcraft or more TERA.

A new stage, music, and a ton of premium costumes are coming to Street Fighter V tomorrow

Capcom reveals a wide variety of new outfits for the Street Fighter V roster — and some other surprises.

We didn’t get any news on Zeku this past week — instead, Capcom is leaning heavily into their DLC MO with an announcement of no less than thirteen (!) new premium costumes for Street Fighter V, covering a variety of themes.

As Halloween is coming up soon for 2017, it comes as no surprise that we’re getting some new “spooky” outfits for select cast members, like we did last year. This time, some fighters lacking in any prior DLC costume attention are finally getting some love — namely Dhalsim, Birdie, and F.A.N.G, while Urien tries to pass as his god-complexed brother:

More characters are going back to school as well, with Menat, Ed, and Cammy gaining academia-themed threads.

Cammy is getting even more premium costume attention: she is also going to have two nostalgic new outfits, one from her days as a Doll for Shadaloo, and another calling back to her Street Fighter IV alternate look.

“But what about Chun-Li? She needs new costumes, too!” Of course she does. Not to be outdone, Capcom’s leading lady is getting three new outfits designed by Akiman: an Interpol “undercover” look, a relaxing summer outfit, and a “sleepwear” costume.

All of these new premium outfits will cost you $3.99 USD apiece. There is also now a 2016 Halloween bundle available, for any players that missed last year’s batch.

This massive selection of new costumes isn’t the only addition planned for SFV tomorrow; Capcom states a new stage — English Manor — is coming as well. Described as a “castle overlook[ing] a sweeping landscape with the Northern Lights hovering up above,” is sounds clearly like a version of Cammy’s classic Super Street Fighter II stage. It will cost the usual 70,000 FM, or $3.99 USD.

Capcom also announced the availability of music packs, to “add a personal touch to every battle.” It sounds like they will be taking a page from Tekken 7‘s jukebox, allowing you to customize your in-game tunes. Classic Street Fighter II music has been promised.

All of this DLC content is planned to roll out tomorrow, September 26, 2017.

Team NINJA will finally end DLC support for Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round this year

Team NINJA’s Dead Or Alive 5 has been one of the longest running installments of the storied franchise. While part of that has been through their consistent support of the competitive scene, a large part of it has also been through all the downloadable content that the latest iteration Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round, has received. Now, it seems that Team NINJA may finally be ready to move on from DOA5.

During their Tokyo Game Show livestream, producer Yosuke Hayashi announced that they will finally end DLC support for the game this year. For those who haven’t been following the game, Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round has multiple seasons worth of downloadable content, including 2 guest characters, and over $600 worth of downloadable costumes.

While this model may have been good for the series — the free-to-play Core Fighters version has just surpassed 10 million downloads — it seems that they’re finally ready to move on. Hayashi has stated that the team is looking towards the future. Whether or not this means that they’re moving on to Dead Or Alive 6 is as yet unknown. In the meantime, Team NINJA is currently also working with Square Enix on Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

Yamcha and Tien join the fight in these new Dragon FighterZ trailers from Tokyo Games Show

As part of the special Dragon Ball FighterZ presentation at Tokyo Games Show, we finally got a glimpse of Yamcha and Tien in action via two short trailers. Joining Krillin as the human representatives on the DBFZ roster, these veteran Z-Fighters look like they can hold their own against Saiyans, galactic emperors and bio-mechanical cicada monsters.

Yamcha looks to be the first real rushdown character in DBFZ, using variations of Wolf Fang Fist to overwhelm his opponent. His Spirit Ball is his Level 1 Super, with Yamcha directly controlling the energy sphere to bludgeon his foe. The Neo Wolf Fang Fist is his Level 3 Super and looks to be a decent corner carry.

As for Tien, he doesn’t fight alone. Similar to Android 18 calling upon her brother, Tien summons his life-long friend Chiaotzu for many of his attacks. Chiaotzu can use his telekinetic powers to briefly stun opponents, allowing Tien to start a combo or escape from a tricky situation. Along with techniques like the Machine Gun Punch and Volleyball Attack, Tien’s Supers having him using his trademark Kikoho. His Level 1 Super is the normal Kikoho, while his Level 3 is the devastating Shin Kikoho. Tien can use the Shin Kikoho multiple times in a row, but it drains his health on repeat uses — like it does in the anime.

If you want to watch the whole Dragon Ball FighterZ presentation, you can check out the VOD below. Along with the trailers for Tien and Yamcha, there is a brief snippet from DBFZ’s Story Mode, showing a cutscene of Android 21 talking to Krillin and Goku.

SNK’s Art of Fighting is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop

Thanks to the ACA NEO GEO line, the Nintendo Switch now seems to be the place to play old school NEO GEO fighting games on the go. Following on the heels of games such as The King of Fighters 2000 and The King of Fighters ’99 comes another classic SNK fighter from the 1990s.

Originally released in arcades back in 1992, Art of Fighting is now available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch eShop. This classic fighter — which sees Kyokugen-ryu Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia fighting their way through South Town’s seediest bars and dojos to rescue the former’s sister Yuri — was one of the first games to introduce a secondary meter system. Performing special attacks in the game would drain a characters “spirit bar.” This meter would need to be manually charged when it ran out. Additionally, both Ryo and Robert had access to a “super death blow,” the Haoh Shoko Ken — while other characters did not, at least not in the original NEO GEO version that this port uses.

Those looking to experience this piece of fighting game history on the Switch can purchase it now from the eShop for $7.99. Take note, however, that as with all ACA NEO GEO releases, this is a straight-up port of the arcade version without many of the bells and whistles we’re used to in home ports today.
