ViewSonic, one of the largest computer display manufacturers in the world, has just announced that they have secured a sponsorship and product development deal with Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee of Team Razer.

With this deal, ViewSonic will be providing Infiltration with gaming displays–particularly their VX line of monitors–for training purposes. In the press statement, Infiltration is quoted as saying “I’m so excited to co-work with ViewSonic as the gaming monitor sponsor… and it is fantastic to have gaming monitors designed for competitive console gaming to practice with from now.”

This deal appears, through the graphic presentation, to coincide with his sponsorship deal with Razer, as the monitor company only seems to providing him practice gear.

In last night’s special Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat X, the NetherRealm team showed off the sheer number of balance changes coming to MKX in today’s big patch. From serious nerfs to Alien and Demolition Sonya, to sizable buffs to Goro, Kenshi, Jason, and a couple more kombatants, these changes should shake up competitive play quite drastically, especially with the general engine changes.

Running and cancelling into a dash now costs more energy, and getting hit during a run now drains 50 energy. NetherRealm have also a “Kounter” message that appears on screen whenever you successfully land a counterattack or punish. The Season 2 teasing continues! While American players are still hoping for Darkrai’s release into the US market, The official Pokkén Twitter is teasing a new character reveal on 10/13. While we have some idea on what Pokémon could be announced, it is all speculation until the 13th arrives. The graphic specifically mentions a battle Pokémon, and the announcement seems to be singular in nature, so odds are good that if the previous leak is true, the remaining two ‘mons are not a support set.

European fans awaiting for BlazBlue: Central Fiction can rejoice, as their release date has finally been announced. November 4th is the magic day that the latest BlazBlue title will arrive in Europe and, with hype steadily mounting, the day can’t come soon enough.

The North American release date has been confirmed to be November 1st, so it may come as a surprise to hear of a Europe date announced so close in proximity, considering the length between North American and European release dates of BlazBlue titles in the past. Not many details to report at the moment, but we are likely to see some of the same DLC and pre-order perks offered with other regional releases soon.

Media outlet Vice just published an article that is a commentary on the current standing of Street Fighter V in the world of esports. The writer, Gareth Dutton, reflects on his trip to EGX 2016 and how some of his observations become personal revelations of what the Street Fighter scene and even the fighting game community is like in the grand scheme of things.

Gareth illustrates how his interactions with “The Beast,” his observation of the pro’s behavior offstage, and comparisons of other esports sponsorships helped shaped his updated perspective. He notes his love for Street Fighter and reverence for the idols in the FGC, but also how–outside of the community–it may not mean as much to those who are involved. He writes:

It suddenly hits me how strange this situation is. In the eyes of a fighting game fan like me, Street Fighter is huge. It’s the most famous fighting game series in the world, the very definition of a household name, and gathered here are many of the world’s top players all milling about in the same hundred square feet of space. But there’s no security, no barriers, no PR reps – there’s just the players, and the fans.

The article is well-written and includes points that Street Fighter fans–especially tournament goers–should find relatable. There are also some high resolution photos from EGX 2015 that include close-ups of top players, and are worth checking out. You can the full article here.

Anyone who pre-orders BlazBlue: Central Fiction via the PlayStation Store will have special access to an October 11th demo of the game. There are no details yet about what features the demo will include, but the Japanese demo that was given with September pre-orders came with Arcade, Training, Versus, and Online Lobby modes, and it is likely that the American version will be the same.

This perk comes a almost a full month before the recently announced November 1st release date for North America, and should give many anxious players a good idea of what to expect from the completed title.

Team SoloMid’s William “Leffen” Hjelte has had a long and arduous road to make it back to the United States for competitive play. When we had last reported on this issue, Leffen had announced that he was unable to attend Evolution 2016 due to the processing time involved in receiving a visa to compete in tournaments.

Today, it was announced that his visa application had finally cleared, and his visa has been approved.

Approval doesn’t mean that the visa is in his passport just yet, however. Because of this, Leffen has announced that his attendance of The Big House 6 is still up in the air at this moment.

While this means that he may not be able to attend one of the biggest majors in competitive Smash, it is now certain that the United States will see Leffen back on shore very soon, and should certainly confirm his attendance for Evolution 2017–should Super Smash Bros. Melee once again make the roster.

Getting into the Halloween spirit, Capcom announced an October Street Fighter V update that will include a set of seven spooky premium skins and a creeped-out version of the Underground Arena stage. The costumes will be available for $3.99/3.99€/£3.29–which includes all 10 colors–and the stage can either be purchased for $1.99/1.99€/£1.29 or 40,000 Fight Money. It was also announced that the new costumes and stages will be available to try for free at New York Comic Con, which begins on October 6th and precedes the official release of the update. The exclusive content will only be available from October 11th until November 29th, so Halloween enthusiasts have until then to pick it up.

An odd new glitch has been discovered in the home version of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. The glitch in question makes certain effects such as hit sparks and auras–as well projectiles and even the backgrounds during the Instant Kill moves–disappear.

We had previously reported that any game that hit a 50 player threshold at Canada Cup would receive a $500 pot bonus.  At press time, the closest game to that mark was none other than the grandfather of all modern fighting games, Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

The game previously hit 45 players at the last Canada Cup and this year, the attendance has grown. It has grown so much in fact, that it has hit the 50 player benchmark and thus receive Lap Chi Duong’s promised $500 pot bonus.

This tournament is shaping up to be of epic proportions. With ST legends such as Damdai, Mattsun, Shougatsu, Kusumondo and Justin Wong confirmed in attendance, and less than a month to get involved, this is turning into the biggest Super Turbo event since the last Tournament of Legends in 2014.

Canada Cup will be held at the Holiday Inn Airport in Toronto, Ontario on October 28th through the 30th, and can be registered for at their website.
