Arc System Works Releases Second Japanese Trailer for BlazBlue: Central Fiction

With the Japanese release date of October 6 right around the corner, Arc System Works has activated promotion mode for the console release of BlazBlue: Central Fiction by releasing a second trailer. While the trailer is in Japanese, it does shed some light on what is included within the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 release.

Featured in the trailer is the boast of 34 playable characters. Further on in, they go over Story Mode, which is touted as being bigger than anything the series has seen so far. Also featured are modes such as Practice Mode, Score Attack Mode, Grim of Abyss Mode, and online play.

What’s more is that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will feature legacy controller support:

It is also worth noting that pre-orders of the Japanese PlayStation 4 edition of the game will get access to a demo of the game, making that–along with getting earlier access to the game than the American holiday release date allows–potentially worth the purchase.

Get Ready to Crush, Kill, and Destroy! Urien’s Official Trailer for Street Fighter V Has Arrived

We knew he was coming, we’ve even got to play him in story mode (or just flat-out play him if you modded the game on PC), but now Urien is finally officially coming to Street Fighter V.

Capcom Japan has just dropped the official trailer for the the Illuminati vice president in preparation for his impending release.

Sadly, an official release date for Urien has yet to be provided. That said, with this trailer out, Capcom is likely to make an announcement soon.

Evo Japan, LLC Now a Registered Legal Entity in Japan, Has Huge Media Conglomerate Backing

Before the Top 8 of Street Fighter V at Evolution 2016, we were treated with the announcement of Evolution Japan. While details have been scarce since then, we were promised more details at Tokyo Game Show.

With Tokyo Game Show looming on the horizon, we were treated to information in the affirmative that Evolution Japan was indeed moving forward swimmingly. 4Gamer, a Japanese gaming publication, released information–translated by Ryan “Fubarduck” Harvey–that Evo Japan, LLC, has been registered as an official legal entity in Japan as of late September. It is a joint venture of SRKX Productions–our parent company and operator of Evolution Championship Series–and three Japanese companies who have split a $1,000,000 stake into the company: Hearts United Group (a subsidiary of Aetas, owners of 4Gamer), Shochiku Broadcasting, and Aetas.  With Hearts United Group owning a 45% stake of the company, and Aetas owning an additional 10%, this makes Aetas majority owner of Evo Japan, LLC.

While this may mean little on the front end of the operation to the competitor planning to travel to the land of the rising sun for the event, what it does mean is that Japanese conglomerates are putting stock in Evolution Championship Series, and are willing to take a chance on striking gold with the tournament’s Japanese presence.

After news broke from 4Gamer, Mark “MarkMan” Julio took to Twitter to announce this was not the only information we should expect, and that he believed that Evo Japan is “the future of gaming.”

With news like this, Tokyo Game Show is shaping up to be an event you do not want to miss.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution Akuma Story Mode Gameplay Revealed

During a live streamed stage event at Pax West, demo footage of the “Mishima Saga” Story Mode in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution was revealed. The level demo includes the long-awaited battle between Akuma and Heihachi, and how it will go down from Akuma’s perspective. Though it’s reminiscent of what we’ve seen in the original reveal trailer from E3, this closer look from the PAX stream gives viewers a better idea of what actual story mode gameplay will be like.

The footage demonstrates how the cinematic parts of the story mode transition smoothly into gameplay, and that there will be moments where a quick-time button sequence will come into play that further adds to the fluidity of the watchable and playable parts. Sign-Ups for Europe’s Premier CPT Event at EGX 2016 Have Been Extended to September 16th

Good news for anyone still on the fence about attending Europe’s Premier event for the Capcom Pro Tour, as EGX and Unequalled Media have announced that sign-ups have been extended until September 16th. This event is taking place during EGX 2016, the UK’s biggest-ever games event, where Capcom will have its own zone for all things Street Fighter.

Entrants to this Premier must buy a three-day pass for EGX 2016, as there are no on-the-day sign-ups. The special EGX Pro Tour pass costs £35 and will give you access to the general exhibition hall, as well as the Fight Zone via a special CPT entrance. There are only 384 places available in this tournament and no more will be made available so make use of the extended sign up period and get your tickets now.

The pools stage of the EGX premier will take place over the 23-24th of September, with Friday having groups 1-16 play while Saturday has groups 17-32 play. Players will find out their pools allocation on the 19th of September and lateness will not be tolerated by the tournament organizers. If you do not arrive by the time stated over on the official CPT EGX website, you will be disqualified into Losers Bracket with no exceptions. They don’t care if you were in the queue to play Yooka Laylee; be at the Fight Zone on time so the tournament runs smoothly.

Top 64 will happen on Sunday the 25th, starting at 11am GMT with top 8 aiming for a 2:30pm start. As with all major Capcom events, the Premier will be streamed over on the official Capcom Fighter Twitch channel so tune in on the Sunday to see all the action. With big name Europeans like BX3.TP-Link|Phenom attending the event, as well as overseas heavy hitters like BST|Daigo Umehara, this Premier is set to be a big one.

Limited Edition Tekken Souvenir Jacket Now Available for Pre-Order

Fighting game apparel is probably the most visible form of merchandise related to the genre. Players and fans don clothing with logos, characters, and even memes at tournaments and events around the globe.

Bandai Namco is getting directly into the act with a new limited edition Tekken themed “sukajan” or Japanese souvenir jacket. Available for pre-order now at Bandai Namco’s own online store, the Tekken sukajan jacket feaures a reversible design. One side is black and grey with the tiger emblem seen in Heihachi’s Tekken 7 base costume embroidered onto the back. The reverse of the jacket is red and yellow with with a red oni design on the back, as well as additional embroidery and a dye sublimated pattern on the sleeves.

The Tekken Sukajan jacket can be pre-ordered for $449.00. Shipping date is in the winter of 2016 with those who order before September 30 guaranteed to get it before December 31, 2016.

Watch ArcadeStream’s Charity Cup Finals: Winner Receives Limited Edition Evolution TE2

For four weeks, Hyounoo “DrakeFang” Sung has run a tournament series at Korea’s well-known Street Fighter stomping grounds–ArcadeStream. The series acted as a qualifier, with the top two of each week qualifying for the final top 8. While the proceeds of the ₩10,000 went to charity, the final event itself has something extremely coveted by its participants.

DrakeFang is offering a limited edition Evolution 2016-themed Madcatz Touranment Edition 2 fightstick to the 1st place winner in the winner take all grand finals. Many of ArcadeStream’s mainstays, and some of Korea’s best players, have taken part in the series to get this gem–numbered 27 out of the 30 in existence. ZeRo Completes His Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Tier List: High and Top Tiers Added

It was quite a while ago that Team SoloMid’s ZeRo started his own personal Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tier list–back in June, in fact–weighing in on how he felt the roster stacked up after the 1.1.6 patch based on his own admittedly subjective experience and observations. He originally began from the top down; after neglecting to continue his list for a while, he recently resumed a revised version from the bottom up–and that list has now been completed.

We recently reported on his new bottom and low and mid and upper tiers; to finish it all off, here are his high and top tier videos:

Since first starting this list, it seems ZeRo’s had a change of heart on a few fighters: no longer as confident in Ryu, ZeRo has moved the wandering warrior down while bumping up Sonic and–to the surprise of many players–now claims Rosalina & Luma belong in the number one spot. Midgar’s Cloud fell in ZeRo’s esteem all the way from #2 to #6, while mainstay Fox climbed a bit–even Bayonetta got a post-nerf boost.
