As Melee fans wait patiently for Melee HD with full online matchmaking and shiny updated textures, fans have stepped in to bridge the gap with their own version of online play for Melee. Acting as the next step from on the Netplay Community build of Melee for the Dolphin emulator is Melee Online Edition, a new build which is completely built around competitive play. The reveal trailer promises ranked matchmaking with an ELO system, an integrated character pick and stage striking system similar to that found in PM, as well as online lobbies with voice chat.

This is apparently all integrated with Dolphin and has some extra features like unlockable skin packs for characters and a system for adding friends which doesn’t have you inputting friend codes to play together. The pre-alpha is scheduled for this autumn and you can sign up here if you want to help test it. While it may look too good to be true, other Melee modders like Dan Salvato, the creator of 20XX Tournament Edition, have confirmed that this mod is legitimate and that they are willing to help out with its creation. It will also be interesting to see how long this mod lasts before Nintendo slaps it with a cease and desist or if it is allowed to exist in the gray area that the 20XX Mod Pack has been able to float around in for a while.

In amongst all the hype and excitement of Evo 2016, Bandai Namco made a quiet announcement about another two characters joining the cast of Tekken 7 Final Round; returning fighter Bob and series newcomer Master Raven.

Bob, the fighter in search of the perfect blend of speed and weight, is one of the most marmite figures in the Tekken series – you either love him or hate him. He’s back in full force in Tekken 7, showing off his acrobatic antics to the fullest in his announcement trailer, alongside his swanky new rage art.

The other character announced, Master Raven, cuts a somewhat familiar figure despite making her series debut. She is the master of series veteran Raven, who debuted in Tekken 5, and has had her presence hinted at throughout his appearances, as the leader to whom he is talking to through his headset. Now she steps into the ring herself, showing off some of the same ninja skills and tricks that made Raven such a fun character to play, along with a few new moves all her own. It looks as though those familiar with Raven will likely find her a comfortable replacement, much in the vein of Christie taking the place of Eddy in earlier games in the series. Either way, she looks great fun to play.

Tekken 7 Final Round had a huge turnout at Evo 2016, despite not yet being officially released, and these new characters may well draw even more players to the newest installment in the iconic series. It’ll be out early 2017 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, though we’ve not heard an official release date.

Gio Corsi of Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that Garou: Mark of the Wolves is coming soon to the PS4 and PS Vita systems at the SNK panel at EVO 2016 in Las Vegas.

Sony released an official statement about the game via the PlayStation Blog. The title received the highest number of votes to be the next SNK game with a re-release. The PlayStation Blog also announced that the game will include a Gallery Mode and Sound Test Features.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is the eight installment of the Fatal Fury franchise and was first playable in Japanese arcades in 1999.

The game is currently playable on the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Marketplace and iOS through the App Store.

After wading through a battlefield fraught with over five thousand players hungry to claim victory, our Evo 2016 Street Fighter V champion has been crowned. It was a rough road; we saw matches in the top 64 that could have easily been grand finals matches in years past, but that only makes the victory all the sweeter for Razer’s Infiltration.

Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono just confirmed that Juri will be the next character to join the Street Fighter V cast. Thanks to the game’s Cinematic Story Mode and the work of some rather creative fans, we’ve already had a great chance to see the Korean fighter in action.

But knowing that she’s next isn’t enough; Ono was also happy to announce that she will be making her way to the game at the end of this month.

This year’s Evolution Championship Series was the biggest fighting game event ever, and what better way to celebrate than to announce its expansion?

After announcing a couple of new characters that are on their way to Tekken 7, the folks at Namco Bandai–joined by some representatives from Capcom–were happy to announce that Evo will be making its way to Japan.

Details at the moment are limited, but we can expect to learn more during the Tokyo Game Show in September. Get hype!

Before the Street Fighter V finals, Bandai Namco representatives took to the stage to announce that well-known Tekken cast member Bob will finally be making an appearance in the current iteration of the game, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

But since Bob isn’t cool enough on his own, the team was also happy to announce another new roster addition: Master Raven.

Over two thousand players came out to Las Vegas to demonstrate their skill in Super Smash Bros. Melee, a game that’s kept a loyal fan base for over a decade. After a full weekend of competition, Evolution 2016’s Melee finals just officially drew to a close with Team Liquid’s Hungrybox winning out over Alliance’s Armada.

Hungrybox fought his way through the losers side of the top 8 and managed to reset the brackets in a set that went down to the last stock. The two titans went on to recreate that last-stock hype a second time before Hungrybox’s signature Jigglypuff finally put Armada’s Fox to rest.

Directly following the conclusion of the Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- finals at Evo 2016, Daisuke Ishiwatari took the stage to give viewers more information surrounding a character everyone has been anticipating since before Xrd -SIGN-‘s launch: Dizzy.

The Evo 2016 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 finals recently drew to a close, and Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzalez walked away the victor. His opponent, last year’s champion Nicolas “Kane Blueriver” Gonzalez, came in looking strong, fighting his way through the bracket on the winners side. Another victory for KBR wouldn’t have come as a shock, but ChrisG had different plans.

As expected, the mastermind behind Morridoom battered Blueriver with walls of projectiles; something he’s no stranger to dealing with, but today the plasma-based pressure was too much for the champ to handle and many rounds concluded with a lone Haggar attempting to wade through a flurry of Soul Fists to no avail.
