We got our first look at Killer Instinct’s Gargos as part of the Season 3 launch trailer, but the folks behind the game decided to share a couple screenshots of the upcoming character on their Twitter feed earlier today.

Granted, these aren’t the best images we could ask for, but not even the blurriest of stills could hide Gargos’ massive wings, horns and upper body brimming with coiled muscle. While the first shot contains a more general look at the character, the second gives us an idea of how large Gargos will be when compared to the rest of the cast. Based on the Tusk he’s holding high off the ground, we can see that he’ll have no trouble towering over most of the roster.

We can expect to see a proper Gargos teaser trailer as early as next week. While we don’t yet have an official launch date, we do know Gargos will be joining the Killer Instinct Season 3 cast before May comes to a close.

Moments ago, Circa eSports announced via Twitter that Long “LPN” Nguyen has signed on as their “official [Street Fighter V] player.” Over the weekend, Nguyen used a combination of Birdie and Alex play to tear through the Street Fighter V brackets at Northwest Majors, landing him with a fourth place finish.

Soon after the announcement of his sponsorship, Nguyen took to Twitter himself and assure his followers that they can expect to see him this weekend at Dreamhack, Austin.

Founded in early 2015, Circa eSports sponsors a number of players who compete in titles like Pokkén Tournament and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, as well as games from outside the fighting genre, such as Hearthstone and Starcraft.

If you’ve been around the fighting game community for a while, you’ve probably stopped by our Fighting Games World Rankings page a time or two. The page specializes in gathering as much tournament data as possible without the need for brackets, allowing for ease of coverage on a global scale. This is not without its limitations, however, and prior to today, those looking for match-by-match data for their favorite players needed to find that information elsewhere.

Thanks to an update to our ranking page, interested parties can now follow the appropriate Maxoplata link included in player profiles to take a look at all of the little details for the player in question, including scoring breakdowns and videos on demand where available.

These combined data sets make keeping up with tournament goings-on a breeze, and also offer a great way to easily study up on top players.

Slowly but surely SNK has been announcing plans to port more of its classic fighting games to modern consoles. The most recent of these, the Last Blade 2, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita on May. Hot on its heels is another classic SNK fighter from the turn of the millennium.

The latest edition of the PlayStation Blogcast has revealed that the King of Fighters 2000 will be coming to PlayStation 4 in North America on May 3. Specifically, the PlayStation 2 version of the game will be coming to the console as a PS2 Classic title.

King of Fighters 2000 is most notable for the introduction of the Active Striker system. This system allows players to select a fourth character for their team who’s only job was to act as an assist. On a more somber note, the title was also the last King of Fighters game released by the original SNK before its bankruptcy.

The pants are pressed, the sleeves are rolled up, the shades are shining, and this list is longer than I intended; it’s Sonic Boom time. After spending most of the daylight hours offline, Street Fighter V’s servers are back up and ready to support players looking to get their first taste of full-on American glory.

Guile will remain available as a free-to-play character until paying for in-game products with Zenny becomes a reality, so be sure to sling some plasma with him before that happens to see if he’s worth your investment.

As a game’s meta develops, certain moves tend to come to the forefront as those that people need to look out for. Such is the case with Street Fighter V, as more than a few players have started to gravitate toward specific attacks in competitive play. In his latest edition of “Hit the Ground Running,” BROKENTIER’s Jay “Viscant” Snyder lists seven of these attacks, stating why players need to look out for them and suggesting ways to train against them

R.Mika’s towards strong command normal is among these moves. This normal starts her Passion Press and leads to her Irish Whip combo and, depending on spacing, her corner game. While the move itself is unsafe–it’s -2 on block, combined with an 8 frame start up–many players are cowed into respecting it, leaving them unable to punish.

Other moves Viscant mentions include Vega’s stance change which, similar to Mika’s towards strong, is -2 (at best) on block, but is still somehow respected by many players. Birdie’s Bull Revenger, Chun-Li’s instant air legs, Ken’s V-Trigger cancelled Shoryukens, and a few more of R. Mika’s moves, specifically her target combo and her charged drop kick, make the list as well.
