Every year, the fine folks at NYU Game Center host Spring Fighter, a tournament that pays homage to the rich fighting game history of the New York City area. In addition to providing some of the best competition around, Spring Fighter also regularly features high-profile interviews conducted by fighting game legend Seth Killian.

This year, attendees will be able to take part in tournaments for Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Perhaps more exciting, however, is the interview portion of the event, which will see Evil Geniuses’ Ricki Ortiz join Killian to discuss her storied career in the community.

What’s more, the Street Fighter V champion will receive a roundtrip flight to Evo 2016 for their efforts. Not too shabby!

Spring Fighter 2016 is scheduled for April 2 at the Metrotech Center in Brooklyn. More information and registration details can be found by following the link below.

It hasn’t even been a week since Pokkén Tournament landed on store shelves worldwide, but the fighting game community is nothing if not dedicated. In these past few days, players have come together to create some incredible videos, mostly based around combos but also focusing on online replays, setups, and more. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.

First up, frequent content producer Hurtbox TV put out a handful of combo videos focused on Pokémon like Gardevoir, Lucario, and Shadow Mewtwo. As we’re still early in the game’s life, don’t expect anything too broken apart from the usual craziness these combo masters always put into their videos.

Speaking of Lucario, LordWilliam1234 also jumped in the lab with this fighter, highlighting a number of Duel Phase combos that do a great job of carrying opponents from corner to corner.

Lucario is popular! This next video focuses on a guard break setup the Pokémon is capable of after activating its Synergy Burst. TheBlackHylian has a much longer guide for Lucario coming in the near future, so stay tuned for that.

We wind down the combo videos today with a look Pokkén Tournament’s resident bruiser, Machamp. Though slow, this four-armed pocket monster packs quite a punch, as demonstrated by owkenny.

And finally, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U master TSM|ZeRo has uploaded a trio of videos showcasing his online matches against ShadyPenguinn, shofu, and Nairo.

The folks over at VGBootCamp recently went live with another installment of Smash @ Xanadu from Xanadu Games in Baltimore, Maryland. These weekly broadcasts provide a great look at the region’s Smash community, with tonight’s stream focusing entirely on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

In a recent blog post, the folks over at Capcom-Unity announced that those looking forward to the release of Machinima’s Street Fighter: Resurrection need not wait any longer. However, if you were hoping to watch the series through standard methods, you’ll be sad to learn that episodes are currently available only through the use of the go90 app.

I can’t personally confirm the quality of go90, as I wasn’t aware it existed when I woke up this morning. Perhaps this speaks to my own loosening grip on the hip trends in mobile marketing; or, perhaps just as likely, go90 didn’t exist when I woke up this morning. At any rate, if you’re excited to have some questions answered with regard to the story leading up to Street Fighter V, you’ll (currently) have to seek such information while huddled around your Android or iOS device of choice.

We can’t currently confirm whether or not this series will eventually appear on other platforms, but we can say for sure that it is only available through this app for the time being.

While Tekken 7 has yet to see a home console release, that doesn’t mean North American players won’t be able to play the game until it does. At Final Round 19, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Katsuhiro Harada, Michael Murray and Mark “MarkMan” Julio announced details for the 2016 Tekken 7 Tour.

In addition to various appearances at Wizard World conventions across the country, the latest installment of Bandai Namco’s flagship fighting franchise is also heading to the following fighting game tournaments:

• Northwest Majors VIII – April 22 – 24
• Combo Breaker – May 6 – 8
• Community Effort Orlando – June 26 – 24
• Summer Jam X – August 19 – 21
• SoCal Regionals – October 14 – 16
• Canada Cup – October 28 – 30

Take note that these events will run vanilla Tekken 7, but are set to eventually switch over to Fated Retribution once it’s released.

During the Street Fighter V tournament at Final Round XIV, Razer competitors Xian and Fuudo experienced a number of issues with their Razer Atrox arcade sticks, some of which may have even contributed to their elimination from the tournament. Unfortunately, these occurrences aren’t uncommon, and Atroxes used by Razer or other teams sponsored by them have often failed during major tournaments, the most famous example being Evil Geniuses’ Momochi experiencing a failing stick during Evo 2015’s grand finals.

In light of these issues, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan recently issued a statement addressing the situation. According to Tan, the reason Xian and Fuudo’s arcade sticks failed was due to the fact that they were prototypes that were being field tested in actual competition. These prototypes have supposedly worked fine during internal testing, but a glitch in the latest PlayStation 4 firmware caused the malfunctions.

While this is exactly what testing is for, the decision to do so during high-stakes tournaments is nothing short of mind-boggling.

In response to the issues, Tan has stated that Razer will be suspending any future fighting game community support until the issues with the PlayStation 4 sticks have been sorted out and are ready for production. Their existing sponsorships however will remain unaffected.

The unveiling of these prototypes indicates that Razer is likely moving forward in their efforts to develop PlayStation 4 peripherals; as recently as The Fall Classic, Razer players were still using Xbox Atroxes modded with parts from the Hori Pad FPS+, as seen in this image of Perfect Legend’s stick from Matthew Gummo.

Here’s hoping Razer irons these issues out soon so that these prototypes stop affecting their players so negatively in tournament.
