When Street Fighter IV launched in 2008, it’s likely even the wildest dreams didn’t expect the title reach its eventual heights. Now, less than a month until the launch of its successor, Unequalled Media and Capcom UK will be giving the biggest fighting game of its generation a proper send-off.

Unequalled Media will host a farewell Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament at Capcom UK’s headquarters with £1,000 in cash prizes up for grabs on January 30. Street Fighter V will also be playable at the event.

In his quest to create an unbeatable Street Fighter V bot, Dantarion has developed an important tool that displays hitboxes on top of the game. This serves as a continuation of his boxdox project, but takes a step forward by providing real-time information alongside the overlay he discusses in a previous video.

While this will go a long way towards making his GiefBot a force to be reckoned with, it should also serve as a useful training tool for those looking to dive into the nitty gritty of Street Fighter V’s various mechanics and systems. As you likely saw in the video above, it needs a bit of work, but a hypothetical public release could serve as worthy successor to previous projects like Frame Trapped.

This year’s Red Bull Kumite is still a few months away, but tournament organizers have already begun the process of filling in the bracket. Earlier today, Red Bull announced that Evil Geniuses’ Momochi, and r/Kappa’s Chung Gon “Poongko” Lee have been invited to attend the event. These two will be joining the likes of Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong and AVerMedia’s Bruce “GamerBee” Hsiang.

The 16-player bracket will eventually be filled with 14 hand-picked players, leaving the final two slots to be awarded to competitors from a last chance qualifier. Unlike last year’s Red Bull Kumite, this year’s event will be held to determine the best Street Fighter V player.

Red Bull Kumite 2016 is set to take place April 23-24 in Paris, France. For more information surrounding the event, you can head over to the official Facebook page.

Yesterday, Ed Boon teased what everyone assumed to be an upcoming enhancement to the netcode of NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X. Just a short while ago, the developers uploaded a video confirming the veracity of those assumptions. It seems the team has decided to revamp the game’s current netcode, replacing it with something more akin to the much lauded GGPO model.

Before implementing new netcode, the developers want to make sure it’s everything they hope it to be. This means they’ll be holding an online beta test–which is open to the public–to ensure everything runs smoothly. If you’d like to participate, you’ll be able to sign up to do so on January 19 by heading to the online beta’s website, which is not live as of this writing. Do note that not everyone who signs up will be chosen to participate in this beta phase.

The beta will feature four characters–Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage and Jacqui Briggs–and will request objective feedback from participants at the end of each play session.

Those who’ve been following Street Fighter V’s development may recall that the game appeared at the Taipei Game Show last year. There, Taiwan’s AVM|Gamerbee took on MCZ|Daigo Umehara for an early exhibition in the alpha build of the game. Information recently surfaced confirming that Sony will once again have Capcom’s upcoming fighter on their stage at this year’s Taipei Game Show.

The game will take the stage on January 30 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM local time. In addition to Capcom’s own Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano, the stage show will feature sets between well-known players from the region, though the players chosen to participate have yet to be announced.

To help these players, a small company known as Brook has come up with a solution: their new Universal Fighting Board. The Universal Fighting Board is a custom PCB that replaces the existing electronics of any arcade stick to allow it to work on the newer Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as the previous generation’s Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

In addition to this, the Universal Fighting Board features a turbo function, built in SOCD cleaning to prevent opposing directional inputs, and XInput support for PC games. Basic installation requires no soldering thanks to the built-in screw terminals, allowing anyone who’s handy with a screwdriver to install the board themselves.

Those leery of picking up a Universal Fighting Board will find comfort in the fact that Jasen’s Custom Creations thoroughly tested the PCB, putting it through rigorous latency, compatibility and functionality tests. The board passed these tests, of course.

Pre-orders for the Brook Universal Fighting Board are now open at Arcade Shock and Paradise Arcade Shop. The boards are expected to start shipping between February 3 and 6.
