Earlier today, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced an upcoming set of Japanese location tests for Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. Thanks to translations from Avoiding the Puddle’s Flying Wonky, we’re able to pass along information surrounding these events.

The tests are set to take place from Friday, February 12 until Sunday, February 14 at various Japanese arcades including Tokyo’s Namco Sugamo, Osaka’s Round One Stadium Sennichimae Arcade and Namco’s Hakata Bus Terminal Arcade in Fukuoka.

Since this is the only information currently available, we’re still not certain whether or not Akuma will be playable during this testing period. Expect more specific details surrounding the testing period as the chosen dates draw nearer.

Some months ago, XSEED announced that they would be bringing EXAMU’s Nitroplus-based fighting game, Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, to North America in the winter. Now, we finally know exactly when in the winter that release will be.

XSEED recently announced that we can expect to see Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel on North American PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 systems on February 2. The PlayStation 4 version will retail for $39.99, while the PlayStation 3 version will go for $29.99.

In addition to this, those who grab the game early will be able to download Homura Senran Kagura’s Homura and Arcana Heart’s Aino Heart for free up until February 29. After that time, both DLC characters will be available for $5.99 each or $9.99 as a bundle.

In the meantime, this new gameplay footage and selection of screenshots should tide you over.

This week has been full of excitement for those eager to get their hands on Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Pokkén Tournament. On top of learning about Braixen, Mewtwo, Garchomp and Chandelure making their way on to the game’s roster, we’ve now received word on exactly when we can expect to get in our first sessions with the game; mark your calendars for March 18, 2016.

Since North American, European and Japanese players will be able to pop the game into their Wii U systems on the same day, we’ll all be starting on equal ground. If you’re looking to be the very best (sorry, I had to) be sure to grab your copy early, hit the lab, and get ready to show the world just how powerful a magical floating light fixture can be.

Yesterday, we reported on the addition of Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp to the Pokkén Tournament roster, but a mysterious fourth new character remained unannounced at that time.

Just moments ago, an image surfaced confirming the Ghost/Fire type Pokémon, Chandelure, will be making its way into the fight as well. With such a big list of potential candidates who could have taken the slot, it’s hard to say anyone could have guessed we’d be seeing Chandelure.

As of this posting, no gameplay footage exists for the new contender, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Pokkén Tournament is scheduled to launch for Wii U in Japan on March 18, with an expected spring release window planned for North America and Europe.

Earlier this week, Mortal Kombat X players got a first look at gameplay footage for the characters coming to the game as part of Kombat Pack 2, but an expanded roster may not be the only exciting thing on the horizon for the title.

No one loves a mystery as much as NetherRealm Studios’ Creative Director Ed Boon, a truth he reiterated earlier today in the form of a seemingly innocuous Tweet. Upon examination, some followers were quick to notice the message sports “GOOD GAME PEACE OUT” in all caps, perhaps nodding to the popular netcode bearing the same name.

NetherRealm Studios’ Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown chimed in on the topic soon thereafter, offering little by way of resolving the mystery, but saying “some fun news [is] coming tomorrow.”

In a world where many of us spend more time facing off against opponents online as opposed to shoulder-to-shoulder at local tournaments, less than perfect netcode can (understandably) herald the downfall of an otherwise excellent game. With that in mind, improved netcode would certainly be a welcome addition to Mortal Kombat X.

When phase 3 of Street Fighter V’s beta took place last December, many assumed it would be to last time they’d get to play the game before its February 2016 launch. However, a new update to the beta client seems to hint that we may yet get another, unannounced beta phase.

The PlayStation 4 version of Street Fighter V has been updated with a massive 3.2 gigabyte patch. The notes for this update, which you can see below, only state that this is an “Overall renewal for next Beta Test.” In addition to this, we’ve received reports that the PC client on Steam has been updated as well.

Back at the San Diego Comic-Con in June, Capcom announced that Street Fighter V would have only three beta phases. This update hinting at a 4th beta phase comes as a pleasant surprise, especially for those suffering from withdrawal after the last beta phase ended.

At the end of last year, Arc System Works teased BlazBlue: Central Fiction’s upcoming Act2 update with a short video. This update to the game promises access to Speed Star Mode, a casual play option allowing players to test their skills against throngs of enemies to see how many they can defeat in a set period of time, as well as offering several quality of life changes for training mode, progression in the game’s story and plenty more.

Yesterday, the game’s official opening cinematic released, and we’ve included it below. As expected, the video offers viewers a look at bits of the story, some short segments of gameplay and runs through a sort of dramatis personae all while bumping upbeat music.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction Act2 is set to release at the end of January.

If you’re going to be in San Antonio later this month to attend PAX South 2016, you’ll be pleased to know PAX has teamed up with Twitch to bring some Super Smash Bros. excitement to the event. This first PAX Arena tournament will feature two Super Smash Bros. titles: Melee and the more recent Wii U offering.

The tournament, which puts $10,000 in prizes on the line, will have no entry fee for those already attending PAX South. But if you’re brave enough to enter the bracket, be warned, as the event staff will be flying out top players in order to increase the competition. These top players include Jason “MVG|Mew2King” Zimmerman, Team SoloMid’s Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios, Panda Global’s Eric “ESAM” Lew, Team Liquid’s Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma, and Joseph “Mang0” Marquez of Cloud 9.

The players aren’t the only all stars coming to the event. On the commentary side of things D’Ron “D1” Maingrette and Terrence “TKBreezy” Kershaw, as well as a host of other great Smash minds will be lending their voice to the event.
