British super middleweight contender Callum Smith (18-0, 13 KOs) stopped countryman Rocky Fielding (21-1, 12 KOs) in the first round on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
In a clash of unbeaten local rivals, Smith floored Fielding three times in a 165-second demolition before the referee stopped the fight.
Smith dropped Fielding with a big right hand inside 30 seconds and, although Fielding got up and fought back, as he charged forward, he was nailed with a left hook to the head…
Skullgirls 2nd Encore for PlayStation Vita Still Undergoing Optimization
When the game that would eventually become Skullgirls 2nd Encore was first announced, Lab Zero Games was aiming to launch the title on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. So far, only the former has materialized, leaving fans of the franchise waiting on the mobile port.
The developers recently devoted an AMA session on Reddit to discussing their current project, Indivisible, but also took time to answer a number of Skullgirls questions. One such question had to do with the whereabouts of the Vita version, and designer Earl “Earlfriend” Gertwagen was quick to provide insight.
“Skullgirls 2nd Encore for Vita is still undergoing optimization, and there are a number of bugs to take care of that, while somewhat small, we feel are unacceptable to ship with,” Gertwagen explained. “We want it to be on par with other fighting game releases for that platform, and it’s unfortunately not there yet.”
Gertwagen would go on to say that they “grossly underestimated” the amount of work putting Skullgirls on Vita would take, which, combined with the added goal of releasing the game in Japan, made for quite a delay.
Skullgirls creative director Alex Ahad also tackled a couple of questions regarding the possibility of a sequel as well as alternate ways they are looking into sharing more of the elaborate story. While a follow-up isn’t currently in the works, Ahad expressed interest in putting together a Hyrule Historia-esque artbook to collect more of the universe’s lore in one place.
For more details on Indivisible, be sure to visit Lab Zero’s AMA thread here. Their crowdfunding campaign currently sits at $693,382 of their $1,500,000 goal with eight days to go, so feel free to check it out and see what you can do to help.

These Virtua Fighter Figures Will Take You Back to 1993
With the power of today’s gaming platforms, it’s may be hard for some of the younger players to imagine a time when simply seeing characters rendered in 3D polygons was groundbreaking. Yet back in 1993, Sega’s seminal Virtua Fighter caught everyone’s attention with a cast that was barely more detailed than a bunch of Lego bricks.
While fighters have moved on since then, FREEing is looking back to those bygone days with an upcoming line of Virtua Fighter Figmas, based on the original polygonal models rendered by the Model 1 arcade board that started it all.
Amiami has provided a couple of images depicting unpainted sculpts of Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant, which we’ve included in the gallery below.
Details concerning release date and cost have yet to be revealed, so stay tuned.
Rigondeaux returns to the ring against Mario Briones on December 4
Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs) will return to the ring against Mexican fighter Mario Briones (26-4-2, 19 KOs) on December 4 at EY Centre, Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.
The two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist was stripped of his WBO title and the WBA have downgraded him to “Champion in recess” for inactivity. He has not fought since last December, where he was knocked down twice in the 7th round by Japan’s Hisashi Amagasa before claiming a 11th-round stoppage victory.
Rigondeaux returns…

Street Fighter V Stress Test Planned for Friday Night
Just in time for the weekend, Capcom will be opening up the Street Fighter V beta for a short stress test tomorrow night (or tonight, if you live anywhere but the west coast).
Reports began flooding the internet earlier tonight as fans found their way back into the early build of this upcoming fighter, which may provide a hint as to what sort of content Capcom has in store for the network test. So far, it appears as if Laura will finally be playable outside of convention appearances, and the Capcom Fighters Network may have received a bit of an upgrade since last time.
According to Capcom, those receiving a title update error on PlayStation 4 need to delete and redownload the beta client to make sure they have the latest version. Doing so might even grant you access earlier than planned, so have fun if you happen to get in. There’s currently no indication that PC will be included in this test, but we should hear more soon.
A recent update provided players a quick glimpse of Street Fighter V’s story and training modes, footage of which you can find in our previous report.

Frame Counting Tool Provides a Deeper Understanding of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round
Frame data is one of the most important things for any player who wishes to be competitive at fighting games. This is especially true for 3D fighters, since they put a much higher premium on that kind of information when compared to their 2D counterparts.
Now while modern games, such as Dead or Alive 5 Last Round already display their frame data in-game, sometimes that’s not enough. Enter WAZAAAA and their new frame counting tool for the title’s PC port.
This tool displays the current animation frame for each player, while also allowing them to run the game frame-by-frame. Using this, you can gain a further understanding of certain moves, such as counting a character’s sidestep frames, finding the exact timing window for combo throws, and more.
