Everyone has a fighting chance
The latest developer blog to hit the Star Trek Online site covers the upcoming Admiralty System, a way for players to send their Admiralty ships on missions hoping to reap the rewards in both tangible means and in terms of prestige and influence. Major political forces in the galaxy will seek assistance that coincides with progress earned in various campaigns.
The Star Trek Online team will be conducting a two-month long polling event that will result in a brand new Federation Carrier ship being added to the game. During the forthcoming days, players will be voting on various schematics for the new carriers, each pitted against another in a single-elimination contest.
After five years, the Iconian threat is coming to an end in Star Trek Online with today’s deployment of "Midnight", the final episode series in this story arc. Over the next several weeks, players will be able to score Featured Weekly Episode boxes and can then choose from either an Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrade or a Captain Specialization Point.
The final chapter in the five years’ long battle against the Iconians in Star Trek Online is coming to a close in the latest announced episode, Midnight.
Cryptic Studios is coming off a five year story arc for Star Trek Online, one that saw the Iconian thread woven throughout all other arcs throughout the years. With Season 11: New Dawn set to launch in October, Executive Producer Steve Ricossa is very much looking forward to players getting to see where STO is going next. We had the chance to sit down with Steve to hear more about Season 11 and Cryptic’s return to story.
Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have announced that Season 11 for Star Trek Online will debut later this year. The story arc is brand new and is expected to last "beyond 2016".
Star Trek Online fans will want to check out the game now that the latest Featured Episode, Broken Circle, is now live. Broken Circle brings series characters Nog (Aron Eisenberg), Tom Paris (Duncan McNeill) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). In addition to playing through the content, players can look forward to weekly rewards such as this week’s Reactive Armor Catalysts Pack. The first completion of the Featured Episode on an account will also score a Weekly Reward Box.
Star Trek Online has been patched with the half-season update that brings both a new narrative called "The Broken Circle" featuring actors from Deep Space Nine and Voyager, and the new Armada feature into the game. (Ed Note: "Holodeck is currently offline. We are aware of this issue and currently working on bringing the server back online as soon as possible." This posted at 7:00 Eastern).
In between major stories, generally introduced through expansions such as Delta Rising last fall, Cryptic puts out mid-season updates that have been becoming larger and larger over the years. Half-season updates tend to be more on focused on system updates, but occasionally a big feature wends its way into one that gives players something wickedly awesome to both look forward to and to experience once the update goes live.
Cryptic has announced that Aron Eisenburg, aka Captain Nog from Deep Space Nine, will be joining the cast of Star Trek Online to take the fight to the Iconians. Eisenburg joins Robert McNeill and Lisa LoCicero who are also bringing their iconic characters into the game.
