Capcom Pro Tour Online Ranking Event Southeast Asia 2 results and replays

The online portion of the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour continues to chug along with the second Online Ranking Event for Southeast Asia. Eligible regions included: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This event saw 56 players waging war for the CPT points.

The next Online Ranking Event will be Latin America North 2 next Saturday, July 28th. Eligible regions will be Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Republic of Panama, and Puerto Rico. Registration is currently live at smash.gg. The tournament will begin at 10:00 A.M. PST, with the Top 8 being streamed at twitch.tv.capcomfighters, as well as the Capcom Fighters YouTube Channel and Street Fighter Facebook Page, at 4:00 P.M. PST.

Indie platform fighter Brawlout hits PlayStation 4 on August 21, adds Yooka and Laylee into the mix

For fans looking for a platform fighting game on PlayStation 4, here’s some great news: Angry Mob Games have announced that Brawlout will be coming to Sony’s console next month.

Originally launching on as an Early Access title on Steam last April followed by Switch last December, Brawlout will finally be coming to PlayStation 4 on August 21 both as a digital download and as a physical disc. When it does hit PlayStation 4, it will bring with it new guest characters, Yooka and Laylee from Playtonic Games’s 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee.

Yooka and Laylee will be joining Brawlout on all platforms as its third guest character from another indie game (with the other two are Hyper Light Drifter‘s Hyper Light Drigter, and Guacamelee!’s Juan). Both will actually act as as a single character, with players controlling both at the same time. The duo can hit opponents with moves like the “Lizard Leap” that takes their opponents into the air, then follow up with a “Buddy Slam” that send their foes cashing into the ground, setting up  a “Sonar ‘Splosion” to send them flying off screen. In addition to this, Yooka can also slurp incoming projectiles to use as his own.

Brawlout launches on PlayStation 4 on August 21 with pre-orders open now, it’s already available on Switch and as an Early Access title on Steam. All versions will be getting Yooka and Laylee on August 21.

Persona Entertainment reveals the power behind Bandeiras’s Brazilian Ninjitsu in The King of Fighters XIV

Few characters have changed so completely from their original release as Bandeiras has in The King of Fighters XIV. Since the very first version of the game, he’s received new OTG states, combo filler, better frame data… the list of changes is long and almost all of it has been beneficial for the charge-grappler.

Persona Entertainment has worked thier way through the cast of KOFXIV to show off flashy high damage for the whole cast. Today’s stop with the founder of  “Brazilian Ninja Arts” might just be the most exciting of all, as Bandeiras is woefully underused despite his damage and mixup potential.

Team Spooky releases top 4 footage from Sailor Moon S at Combo Breaker

Breaking combos by moonlight!

2 months ago, Chicago’s FGC hosted the largest Sailor Moon S tournament in the West on record. Capped at 32 entrants — and possibly to be eclipsed by AnimEVO‘s bracket soon — the tournament featured some of the top players of the game, and boasted an amazing set of matches in the top 4.

This VOD from the tournament features top-level play from some of the best players in the game, including DaiAndOh and Vic Viper — the duo always going back and forth in New York tournaments frequently. It also features play from NarutoFan69 and AnimEVO’s own DJCream.

Beef up your Paul combos with Rage Art cancels in Tekken 7

Paul is one of Tekken 7‘s easiest pick-up-and-play characters, dishing up giant damage in short combos and well spaced Death Fists. He’s a great character to learn the game with, but there are a few quirks about the character that don’t apply to others in the cast. One of those is his Rage Art, or more specifically, the cancelled version of it with a back-input.

Learning combos from this gives Paul more damage than just letting the cinematic rock. Since you get the Rage Art’s large bounce from virtually any combo starter, learning post-rage combos gives Paul comeback potential like no other.

SNK’s upcoming fan-service-packed tag team fighter SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy has a new trailer to introduce you to the playable cast and the game’s many features. After a brief overview of the fighting gameplay, take a look at the online functions and the extensive customization options, including the “Photo Shoot” mode that allows you to take pictures of your customized Heroines.

The most recent character announced for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy was Mui Mui. The title will launch for Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 6 in Japan, and September 7 in the West.

Can’t choose an anchor in Dragon Ball FighterZ? These tips from rooflemonger could point you in the right direction

Character order and positioning is one of the more unique — yet also daunting — aspects of team-based fighting games. Though you may have found what you feel is the perfect team for you, it could all fall apart if not played in the optimal order.

This is especially true in a 3V3 game like Dragon Ball FighterZ, especially with single assists being tied to each character, with no ability to choose between them like in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Though rooflemonger encourages players to obviously play their warriors in the order they wish, he has decided to break down the qualities of what generally makes up a strong anchor in the game, while also running down some of the pros and cons of many of the more prominent anchors in the current competitive climate.

He specifically discusses Yamcha, Tien, Super Saiyan Goku, Goku Black, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Kid Buu, Android 16, Gotenks, and Cell — displaying what each character brings to the position and how well they may fit into the role, compared to the other two possible positions. NEO GEO World Tour 2018 shares SNK highlights from Kuwait Battle Royale

The NEO GEO World Tour is an SNK-supported tournament series for The King of Fighters ’98 and The King of Fighters XIV. It’s also an overall celebration of SNK’s arcade past, with side events for things like Metal Slug and Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

And just like any arcade, you never know who will show up to run shop. NEO GEO World Tour has put together a great highlight reel of from their most recent stop at the Kuwait Battle Royale, showing off the triumphs and upsets of each event. Ryu morphs into a Power Ranger in new reveal for Power Rangers: Legacy Wars

It was pretty wild when Ryu, Chun-Li, Bison, Cammy, and Akuma were revealed for the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars mobile fighting game a few months back. But, if you looked at that and thought “Ah, that’s it, that’s as far as this weird crossover will go”, well… Ryu is a Power Ranger now, according to the newly revealed trailer by nGate at San Diego Comic Con:

The Ryu Ranger is his own separate character, and he’s available now in Power Rangers: Legacy Wars.

One wonders if Ryu Ranger will appear as an alternate outfit in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition somewhere down the line. Personally, I’m still holding out hope that the Power Rangers will just get their own actual console fighting game, instead. The last one we had Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition on SNES, a surprisingly competent fighter for its era that would see its battle engine reused for Gundam Wing: Endless Duel.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike tutorial — Ken bread-and-butter combo guide & general notes

In light of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection‘s release, I’ve been bombarded with requests to do some Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike character tutorials. It warms my heart to think that people want to learn my favorite title in the franchise even twenty years down the line, so I’m only happy to oblige. My latest video is on Ken, who is probably the most-played character both casually and competitively. Ken is very strong in this game, generally agreed to be the third best character overall. Many of his tools, such as his target combo and air EX Tatsumaki, have become signatures of his toolset in later games, so 3rd Strike could be considered Ken’s breakout game.
