Nintendo’s Switch is getting another offbeat fighting game. Mediascape is bringing Phrasefight, studio VeryOK’s rhythm and fighting game hybrid, to Nintendo’s portable console.
First released on PC and Mac back in February, Phrasefight combines both genres resulting in a game that emphasizes timing and precision. Players take turns on offense where they’re challenged to hit attack prompts that correspond to attacks on the opponent. Getting these prompts right or wrong determines if an attack connects, or misses. Victory is determined not by a health bar, bur rather on a player’s performance with these prompts.
The game will be playable in both handheld and docked modes. It’ll support HD Rumble and 2-person share play, with one Joy-Con per player. No release date has been set as of yet, though the game will be playable at Zentame 2018 at Gifu in early August.
In the meantime, here are a couple of videos from VeryOK showing the game in action.
