Finding advantages in Tekken 7 is as important (if not more so) as in other fighting games. Finding situations where you are in a plus-frame scenario — meaning your move is safe on block — means the ability to create mix-ups and continue your pressure. For King, however, this also means setups into his plethora of command grabs.
Finding these plus-frame scenarios can be difficult, due to spacing issues. But given the variety of moves King has with multiple active frames, his ability to get plus-frame scenarios off of shallow hits is incredible, leading to many possible mix-ups.
A lot of people who got into the fighting game community did so by way of seeing Evo Moment 37: where Daigo Umehara fully parried Justin Wong’s Super Art from Chun-Li to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. While parrying in Street Fighter V has become easier to do, players and audiences alike still get hype over well-timed parries into big damage.

At Final Round 2018, BornFree had the chance to talk at length with Atlas Bear’s Gunfight, possibly the best Alex player in Street Fighter V worldwide. They discuss Gunfight’s thoughts on the balance of many of SFV’s mechanics, and the possibility that success in SFV outright requires a secondary character — something he himself is currently considering, in the form of Urien or Rashid.
Of course, they discuss much more — including Gunfight’s prowess with 3rd Strike’s Dudley, and how Abigail maybe isn’t necessarily as strong as currently thought. Check it out below!

For decades, Mega Man has shamelessly stolen weapons from his fallen foes. Now, it’s time for the characters of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to rise up and steal back from him what was taken!
In this combo video, we see the bottom row of characters in the roster use Mega Man’s Metal Blade against him, launching him to situational (but effective) combos, many of which can take a full stock if performed correctly. Who knew Mega Man’s greatest weakness would be karma?
Ibuki has been a character of chaos since her creation. Since Street Fighter III, it has always been difficult to guess her next move. In Street Fighter IV, she became the master of vortexes. Now, in Street Fighter V, she is able to create 50/50 mix-ups in a variety of ways.
From V-Trigger setups to not using V-Trigger at all, Ibuki has tons of potential. There are even examples of using triple dashes in order to keep your opponents guessing to the bitter end of their life bars. This video by TaktakAdu showcases so many setups that it will even make battle-hardened Akuma dizzy.
Cool combo videos for BlazBlue: Central Fiction aren’t stopping any time soon. This time, Kalibur has released a brand new Es combo video: the Central Fiction newcomer certainly turned out to be a popular character, and definitely became stronger once the 2.0 patch came out.
Kalibur shows off their prowess with Es, making these sequences look easy — though they certainly aren’t. There’s a few unusual routes that result in unexpected resets, which net another combo against an unsuspecting opponent. The video also plays well with those transitions, like in the moment when Noel gets hit by a Fatal Counter attack, ending in a double Distortion Drive.

Could Dragon Ball FighterZ be as big — or bigger — than Street Fighter V? Dogura seems to think so!
BornFree caught up with 3rd-place DBFZ finisher Dogura at Final Round 2018 to chat about anything and everything Dragon Ball FighterZ. Dogura talks about how seeing GO1’s Vegeta in action made him decide he needed the Prince of Saiyans on his own team, as well as how he likes to watch Nakkiel for Kid Buu tips. But Dogura is most excited for the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly (now available as DLC!), as he’s already a fan of the character — so much so that he’d take great pride in being the best Broly in the world.
They talk about this, and much more — such as Dogura’s thoughts on other DBFZ characters’ strengths, and the potential for Dragon Ball FighterZ to match Street Fighter V in FGC popularity — in the interview below!

Alright, Dragon Ball FighterZ fans. The first DLC characters for one of the biggest games of this decade is here — and considering the legacy of these characters, we should expect to see some ridiculous tech develop for both of them over time. Let’s see what the community has cooked up for Broly and Bardock thus far:
SitverGold starts us off with an excellent demonstration of Broly’s ability to combo multiple level 3s easily.
In general, you can easily dump your meter with Broly to blow up lifebars, as demonstrated by COMBONAUTS.
SatanicGoomba shares some mid-screen and corner combos for the Saiyan of legend.
But hopefully you don’t auto-assume that Broly is the only worthwhile DLC in this group — Persona Entertainment shows off this Sparking-consuming touch-of-death combo for Bardock:
But if you’re the sort that likes to jump in and learn via gameplay, there probably isn’t a better early source of inspiration than GO1, who is already tearing people up with Broly and Bardock online.

Can the King of Fishing also become the King of Iron Fist?
Those that weren’t already fans of the Final Fantasy franchise — and Final Fantasy XV in particular — might still be wondering where this feathery-haired pretty boy comes from, and why he’s a guest fighter in Tekken 7 next to Akuma and Geese Howard. In this brief interview video from Bandai Namco, Tekken developer Katsuhiro Harada and Hajime Tabata from Square Enix talk a little bit about who Noctis is, and why they feel he’s a natural fit for Tekken 7.
Of course, the video above only superficially explains who Noctis is — but not why he loves fishing, what an “Armiger” is, and what the deal is with that strange Kenny Crow statue… the best way to get those details is to play Final Fantasy XV. Otherwise, you can still enjoy his unusual — and effective — fighting abilities in the Tekken 7 DLC3.
