The Street Fighter Alpha series can be a divisive one among the competitive community. While many prefer the more frenetic pace of Street Fighter Alpha 2, others still prefer the more stable and balanced gameplay offered by Street Fighter Alpha 3.
Japan tends to focus more on the latter over the former (there known as Street Fighter ZERO 3), and their level of play in the game is hard to reach. As such, this round-robin tournament that was recently hosted at A-Cho arcade in Osaka shows some amazing gameplay by everyone involved.

Between Josie’s versatile movelist, highly mobile stance options and excellent punishment game, there’s few situations she’s ill-prepared for. Each stance’s options has varying levels of practicality and purpose, and it’s all cemented around one of the game’s best (and most absurd looking) panic buttons, her UF+3 “Bufferfly Edge”. If you’ve got an hour to spare, then That Blasted Salami‘s can get you up to speed with the finer details of Josie’s competitive possibilities.
Kid Buu makes for a difficult character to defend against in Dragon Ball FighterZ. His long limbs and his increased mobility thanks to them makes his mix-ups very deceptive, thus allowing for him to open up characters in a myriad of ways. In the opening majors of the game, we have seen players such as Dogura use Kid Buu to catch players off guard with his insane 2M, which tracks and hits as a low.
This combo video showcases some of that potential, as Kid Buu performs combos started at a wide amount of ranges. He also extends very well, even on his own, and does a great deal of damage, showing why he is one of the stronger characters in the current meta.

Blastoise, the latest DLC character for Pokkén Tournament DX, might be one of the most mold-breaking characters in the game. While his frame data is truly horrendous, he sports a dizzying amount of stance transitions and surprising mobility thanks to the many cancels possible from stance.
Wisely, Namco has designed Blastoise to get big damage for the risks he takes, and nowhere is this more clear then in the loops shown off in BadIntent‘s latest combo video. Blastoise’s 2Y is actually Kuma’s “Double Bear Claw” from his Hunting Stance in Tekken 7 — but where Kuma uses his as a mix-up poke, Blastoise’s version is the foundation of his impressive juggle damage.
At last week’s Wednesday Night Fights, NIS America brought along a pre-release build of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. Aside from giving players a chance to try the game out, it also gave Level|Up Series’ Alex Valle a chance to talk to them about the upcoming title.
Alex Valle got a chance to talk with NIS America’s Senior Product Marketing Manager Travis Shrodes on a number of things about SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy; the result is a pretty extensive 50-plus minute interview — that you can watch below!

SNK wants to make a more approachable The King of Fighters, hence the simplified control scheme and auto-combos. However, auto-combos are not the most optimal way to play.
The game has 1-button supers. They were mapped to R1 in the build shown (PlayStation 4 version).
You can tag mid-combo by pressing R2.
Items (which are mapped to the right analog stick) can be turned off.
There are 20 items in the game.
Fights are 1 round only.
The game supports 4-player local play on the same console.
There are no sweeps. Hard knockdowns can only come from throws.
Guard breaks are in the game.
Players can get stunned if they’re hit while their health bar is flashing at 10% life.
The game will have a story mode.
The game could possibly have a guest character from another fighting game franchise.

In addition to these, they also announced that the game will be at PAX East on April 6, and that they will reveal a character there.
Knee has rapidly become the player to beat in Tekken 7. After the duo of JDCR and Saint dominated most of 2017, Knee came on strong in 2018, winning both Evo Japan and Final Round 2018 most recently. Many, including JDCR and Saint, have struggled to topple him.
That changed at Thaiger Uppercut 2018, as hometown hero Book found himself facing off against Knee — and his arsenal of characters — in Grand Finals. With Knee putting the Thai Jin main into Losers Bracket during Winners Finals, Book had a hard road to walk in order to claim the championship. But, as you can witness through the footage below, Book stayed true to his name and got a read on Knee that propelled him through this amazing set.
The ArcLive episodes from the Arc System Works America office have continued; while there wasn’t a reveal in the most recent one, we’ve got a fresh batch of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle gameplay with experienced anime players Jona and Brkr Dave.
D-Piddy hosts the show as usual, and starts things off by asking the two about their gaming resumes. Brkr Dave is most famous for his Arakune play, but he’s also a skilled Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] player, while Jona has mained Mai and Valkenhayn. Shortly after, they begin playing a build of the game that doesn’t yet have Aegis, Jubei, and Carmine (nor special introductions between certain characters, something many fans eagerly want to see). The two go through just about everyone in the cast. At first, they test out a lot of things, which will be good for advanced players to listen to; later on, they switch to some more serious battles.

Ever wanted to take the fight outside the digital realm? In fighting games–and video gaming in general–there is a large overlap with collectible card games and miniature games such as Warhammer 40,000 and Heroclix. The legacy of the Street Fighter series, then, seems to be a natural fit for these formats.
Angry Joe has announced his impending Street Fighter-themed collectible game Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game. In this trailer, he shows off the miniature figures — all of which are exquisite in detail. There is no release date yet, but the work on the project looks amazing.
