The release date — and a surprise bonus — finally revealed!
Capcom has, at last, confirmed the release date for the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection! This 12-title compendium of Street Fighter history will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 29, 2018. Also, a bonus has been revealed for digital pre-orders on PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam: a pre-order will get you an copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV as well!
Bandai Namco has just dropped a new Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer; alongside showcasing DLC character Bardock, it also reveals the date of when we’ll be getting both Bardock and Broly: April 28! Alongside Bardock and Broly, Bandai Namco will also be releasing a Commentator Voice Pack, that will allow Chichi, Videl, and Android 18 to commentate fights.
Going back to the trailer: aside from showing some of Bardock’s moves, we also get glimpse of his Super Saiyan form during his Meteor Attack. This was originally shown in a side story called Episode of Bardock which saw him sent back in time due to the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Here, ascending to Super Saiyan while fighting one of Frieza’s ancestors caused said ancestor of Frieza pass on the legend of the Super Saiyan to his descendants.
What’s interesting about this is that this means that both characters in this batch of DLC are related to the Super Saiyan legend — Broly being the “Legendary Super Saiyan”, and Bardock being the one who may have started it (at least when it comes to Frieza’s family!).
Even though we live in a post Mortal Kombat 9 world, it’s hard not to think of Mortal Kombat 4 when you hear the phrase “3D Mortal Kombat”. It was the first game in the series to abandon its signature digitized sprites, and the jump to clunky polygonal models was a jarring experience, for many.
Of course, the ambitious jump to 3D was never going to recreate what they had accomplished in their previous games — particularly not with the technology available in 1997.
But what if the 3D pivot Mortal Kombat took still played with the original series’ sprites? That’s what Bitplex asks with their take on fan-favorite Mortal Kombat II, and the results are fantastic. Instead of forcing more realism onto the MK world, they embrace the unique quality of MK’s original sprites, while still bringing them into the 3D realm.
Rarely do big video game companies pluck an artist to work for their team just based off of fan work — but if NRS did take Bitplex‘s idea and flesh it out into a 3D-ified MKII revision, I imagine it would sell quite well.
Tekken 7‘s Paul Phoenix has a reputation for being a very beginner-friendly character. Everyone knows that the dreaded Death Fist and Demo Man attacks can come out at any time, at any level of play — But if those are the only things you fear from Paul, then heaven help you if you run into someone like oldKYSG.

Tekken 7 hit Final Round 2018 like a Death Fist! Fans were treated to fantastic high-level play as the top 8 battled to claim the championship at Final Round’s Tekken World Tour event. If you couldn’t attend — and missed the livestream — Bandai Namco has you covered with these replay videos of the action.
You’ll see Echo Fox’s JDCR and Saint facing off against Evo Japan champion ROX.Dragon|Knee and his teammate ROX|Chanel, as well as Lil Majin, Kkokkoma, LowHigh, and Anakin all doing their best to grab for the top spot. Many fighters are turning their heads toward the upcoming BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, but the main game in the series, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, is not dead yet. Monarch, who has shown mastery with several BBCF characters, is back with a new combo movie for your enjoyment.
Izayoi is quite the advanced character, featuring a resource system that either gains or spends her resource. In the video, Monarch shows mastery over this and effortlessly completes sequences from a variety of starters. A lot of them happen in short, practical situations, like from a throw during corner pressure into some Es dragon punch baits. There’s an interesting screen-wide punish against Hazama. Other than many Fatal Counter combos, there’s also a beautiful fight staged against Jin, as well as some combos on Tager and Susano’o that look character-specific.

The first Premier event of this year’s Capcom Pro Tour — Final Round 2018 — has just wrapped up, and the Street Fighter V competition was as fierce as ever, if not more so. You can see for yourself in the replay videos below from the event’s exciting top 8 matches: newly-sponsored by Panda Global, Infiltration (the tournament champion) was on point with his dangerous (and frustrating) Menat, while Echo Fox|Tokido was a deadly menace to all that crossed his path — Tokido genuinely looked like he was enjoying it, too!
NuckleDu was in good form with his Guile, and you can also see Nemo’s oppressive Urien, Gachikun’s slippery Rashid, Verloren’s deadly Cammy, and DATA NEON’s chilling Kolin battling for the top spot. For a while now, we’ve known about the release dates for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle for Japan and North America. But this begs the question — what about Europe? Well, now we have a general idea of when the game will be coming out in that region as well.
PQube has announced that they’re will be bringing BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle to Europe this summer. While Arc System Works will be self-publishing the game in Japan and North America, the UK-based publisher will be handling the game’s release on both PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch in Europe.
Though it’s not an exact date, at least Europeans now have a general idea of when they’ll be getting the game in their regions. More importantly, they know that they’ll be getting in just about the same time as other regions — something that hasn’t always been the case with Arc System Works fighting games.
For interested players, pre-orders for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle in Europe are now open on PQube’s online store.

As for other regions, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle launches on PlayStation 4 and Switch on May 31 in Japan, and June 5 in North America.
While games such as Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Tekken 7 were the main focus of Final Round 2018, Bandai Namco’s upcoming SoulCalibur VI also had a presence at the event. As part of such, a pre-release exhibition tournament was held at Final Round XXI: this allowed players to show off what the game may look like in high-level play.
For those who missed the exhibition tournament on the stream, Bifuteki has now uploaded the footage from the stream onto their YouTube channel. The footage consists of a half-hour-long video, with all of the matches included.
