VesperArcade discusses the opening of the Capcom Pro Tour in this Final Round 2018 aftermath video

Final Round opened the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour in a big way. Carrying on with his momentum from Evo Japan, PG|Infiltration has shown that he is back in the saddle, winning another event on the strength of his Menat and his Juri.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg, as VesperArcade explores in this video. With the emergence of Kolin as a powerhouse, and the concerns about Abigail taking out various killers across the tournament, there are many things that will need to be considered by both Capcom and players going forward.

GO1 sits down with BornFree at Final Round to discuss Dragon Ball FighterZ

Very few players at Final Round 2018 had a busier weekend than GO1. After first winning a highly-anticipated FT10 exhibition match against America’s Sonic Fox, the Japanese self-proclaimed “King of Poverty” carried his momentum into the tournament by winning in grand finals in the runback — out of losers bracket, no less.

After the event, BornFree sat down to talk to him about the game. He talks about the nerves he felt going into the long first-to-ten set, as well as how broken he feels that Adult Gohan is. He also talks about his usage of a Shenron summon in a tournament match in Japan, and also how he feels about the state of the game in his native country.

Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato says it’s up to Harada if fans want to see Kazuma Kiryu in Tekken 7

Though we’ve already seen a trio of guest characters join the world of Tekken 7 — in the forms of Street Fighter’s AkumaFatal Fury’s Geese Howard, and Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum — one name has always seemed to be requested above all others: Yakuza protagonist Kazuma Kiryu.

Last Saturday, during the “Yakuza 6: The Song of Life ‘Essence of Art’ Exhibit” live stream at Gallery Nucleus, SEGA’s Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato was asked, “Is this truly the end for Kiryu, or could we maybe expect to see him in future Yakuza games, or maybe crossing over into other games?” — which immediately lead to the room erupting in TEKKEN!” chants, leading to the following response from Sato:

“As far as it comes down to the whole Tekken thing, if Harada-san actually says he wants to use Kiryu, then hey,” — which lead to another eruption of cheers from the crowd in attendance. He then referenced Kazuma’s previous crossover appearance in Everybody’s Golf 6 as a DLC character. It certainly seems that SEGA and the Yakuza team are wholeheartedly on board with Kiryu potentially joining the King of Iron Fist Tournament sometime in the future, but it’ll of course take Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco Entertainment to make that final call. At the end of the day, it’s certainly a positive development to have their blessing, and could bring his eventual inclusion into the series one step closer. You can hear Sato’s full comments — and crowd reactions — at the 55 minute, 27 second mark of the video below.

Tekken 7 Noctis Lucis Caelum roundup: Day one combos, Roll-Dodge okizeme, and more from the Prince of Punishment

The worlds of Final Fantasy XV and Tekken 7 have collided! Now that the dust is settling from the impact, the Tekken community is left with Noctis Lucis Caleum and his weapon-slinging, teleporting moveset. The FFXV protagonist brings a wide variety of unique power to Tekken 7‘s meta — let’s take a look at what the community has put together for him thus far.

Everyone wants to get their day one combos in, so let’s get those out of the way first!

EgyptianDarknessTeam is the only group on this list to use a teleport-less jump Y mid combo.

Not only does Gatack FG have some of today’s most explosive combos, but he shows off why Noctis is the best anti-fireball character in the game.

Usman Hitman shows off some impressive run-unders and corner-wall setups.

쿨잼Coorejam found a way to push 70+ off of DF+2 without rage or walls. Impressive!

For those looking for ways to exploit Noctis’s move list, GameCaffeine’s “I hate” punishment series is here to help.

Peter Souvannarath has a few wall carry ideas for the Prince of DLC.

And closing us out today is omgitsnewton, whom shows off the suffocating okizeme game Noctis can get off of his Roll-Dodge sweep.

If you see anything worth sharing, let us know by submitting a tip for our next roundup. Thanks everyone!

Enjoy new BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle gameplay from the latest build, featuring team-specific intros and Blake Belladonna

During last week’s March Arc Nama stream, the hosts played a few exhibition matches in the upcoming crossover tag team fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. However, this was a noticeably more updated build, as we were finally able to see the game’s victory screen implemented, as well as a Team Preset option that will likely be similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Most notably however were the newly-implemented Team-specific pre-match intros, which will occur both from pairs of related characters — such as BlazBlue’s Jin Kisaragi and Noel Vermillion — but also between crossover pairings, such as Rachel Alucard and Under Night In-Birth’s Linne. Additionally, it appears that achieving victory with such a duo will also trigger a special victory conversation between the two, as opposed to the standard win quotes spoken by unrelated characters.

We also received a brief, yet revealing, gameplay snippet of the unlikely duo of BlazBlue’s Azrael and Team RWBY’s Blake Belladonna, dishing out some stylish combos as only they can.

Fear not my fellow Tyrants, for though Azrael does appear to lack his Drive (The Terror) certain specials they formerly enhanced, such as Valiant Charge, will now act as if a Weakpoint is permanently applied, allowing the Mad Dog to retain his signature corner carry combos at the expense of 1 Bar of the Skill Gauge to trigger the EX version of the move.

As for Blake, she slices up a helpless Yosuke Hanamura with her Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe: Gambol Shroud, before finishing him off with a Distortion Skill reminiscent of how she defeated Roman Torchwick.

You can see both videos — along with a full gameplay analysis from Koefficient and stat cards for the newly-revealed Aegis, Carmine and Jubei — below.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Japan and Asia on Thursday, May 31st, with a North American release on the same platforms following on Tuesday, June 5th. A European release on PS4 and Switch, published by PQube Games, has been confirmed for this summer.

Learn essential Noctis combos in this Tekken 7 tutorial video with annotation

At last, Final Fantasy XV fans and Tekken 7 enthusiasts can enjoy the latest DLC character, Noctis Lucis Caelum. Packing an armament of magical weapons, spells, and teleportation tricks, Noctis appears to be a force to be reckoned with among the cast. It’s time to get studying in order to get ahead of the competition.

legendaryMihawk warps in with a well produced combo video for Noctis. They go over a variety of starters — first showing every sequence as it is, then replaying it in slow motion with notation. After that, every combo includes an informational splash screen that lists the full combo again, has a pad for reference with inputs as well as the combo’s damage, hits, and difficulty. Take note of the combos that only work on certain characters. The latter parts of the video include Rage Art and Rage Drive techniques, and a few wall sequences.
