Earlier this month, the upcoming BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle was on display at the PlayStation Arena event in Korea, with a pre-release tournament providing us some new gameplay footage of several characters. We now have a look at some additional matches between the developers from the event, courtesy of Bloo561.
Our first match features a battle between the four protagonists, as BlazBlue’s Ragna The Bloodedge and RWBY’s Ruby Rose unite to battle the high school team of Persona 4 Arena’s Yu Narukami and Under Night In-Birth’s Hyde Kido. In addition to hearing the fighters call out their partners names for Assists, (which may be team-dependent), we can also see how much damage Yu — who will likely be an average-health character — takes when his Persona is hit in battle, as well as the fact that Resonance Blaze turns the final hit of his Cross Slash Distortion Skill into the Thunder God Dance.
In the second bout, we see Es and Chie Satonaka taking on Hazama and Yukiko Amagi. Fans of the “Unconquerable Snow Black” will be pleased to know that she can automatically gain one Fire Boost Level when her Phoenix Flame Swirl assist is called, and the properties of SB Maragi have been changed to now fire three flames on release/contact (instead of both the C and D versions simultaneously like in Ultimax). The third and final game features Ruby and Weiss taking on the brotherly duo of Ragna and Jin. You can see all three matches below.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in Japan on Thursday, May 31st, with a North American release on the same platforms Tuesday, June 5th.
