Akuma can use his dragon punch to option select punish strings in Tekken 7

Do you love option selects? Are you looking to make your Akuma better in Tekken 7? If you answered “yes” to both of those, then HQRubbish‘s new technology for the guest-starring Street Fighter might interest you:

In the example above, Akuma is able to punish every single option off of Paul’s ff+2, including the ff+2 by itself. Theoretically, this would work versus any unsafe starter that leads to a string with fast high/slower mid enders.

Akuma also is able to use EX DP to blow up some strings other characters cannot, thanks to its invincibility on frame 1. In general, stance and string-heavy characters need to approach the Akuma match-up differently if they intend to survive versus a savvy Goshoryuken user.

Mocchi’s Sol returns to Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 in a great compilation video from Mikado

Some Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 players have been wondering about Mocchi lately, and whether he’s still active in the community. His Sol Badguy is definitely renowned as one of the best. Worry not, as the Japanese arcade Mikado just pumped out some fresh match footage between Mocchi and none other than Nage Faust.

The clip below is a compilation of matches between the two. There are many rounds when Nage is so dominant, Mocchi can only begin to mount a comeback at critical life. Mocchi’s talent really shines when he doesn’t give up in the face of nearly insurmountable odds. He knows how to make every single hit count, and make the most of it. There’s a great example of that around the 2:20 minute mark, where he turns the tide with a 2HS counter-hit. He’s also great at reading Bursts from Nage, not an easy feat.

You can see three matches between the two in the clip below:

Street Fighter gets ported to the real world with the help of augmented reality

Ever imagine what how it would feel like to see Ryu and Ken duking it out on your own street? Or maybe see E. Honda and Dhalsim trading blows by your local corner store. Well, imagine no more, thanks to this tech demo that ports Street Fighter to the “real world” via augmented reality.

Called Street Fighter II: Real World Warrior, the homemade tech demo was made by noted AR developer Abhishek Singh, who famously made that first-person Mario demo for Microsoft’s HoloLens.

Now, the gameplay itself is nothing that any fighting game veteran would call “competitive”. The animations are quite slow, and are tied to a weird 3-button control scheme. However, it’s the possibilities that this opens up that are exciting: imagine what an actual officially licensed and developed AR implementation of any fighting game franchise could look like!

FrameWhisperer explains the hatred for Tekken’s Eddy Gordo, and how to approach fighting him

There are few characters in the fighting game genre as polarizing as Tekken’s Eddy Gordo. His toolkit is comprised of several evasive stances and long strings; these moves are designed to knowledge check foes — and most of his foes, as it turns out, don’t have the knowledge necessary to beat him.

FrameWhisperer Tekken‘s latest video isn’t so much a tutorial as it is a study about what makes a character “typical” in the world of Tekken 7. Even though Eddy’s long been a source of complaints, as FrameWhisperer points out, players have difficulty articulating why they have trouble with the capoeira user. With a little work and effort, you can learn to understand why you’re losing to Eddy, and what you can do about it.

Get a closer look at the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection in action, thanks to PlayStation Underground

A look into what this compilation will deliver for classic Street Fighter fanatics.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

As we creep closer to the release window for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, some new footage of the game compilation in action was long overdue! PlayStation Underground has now brought us exactly that: giving us our first good look at what the collection has to offer.

In their half-hour preview video, we see the overall menu layout and some in-game footage from Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. The attention to historical detail and the overall presentation is quite impressive, including the classic “cabinet art” borders (which can be turned off). The speed at which the compilation switches between titles is also a nice surprise — the load times are near-nonexistent in this demonstration. It’s not easy to see exactly how true to arcade gameplay the titles are from a single video, but it looks promising; although the speed setting on Super Turbo looks… a bit off? Judge for yourselves by checking out the video below.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is expected to release in May 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
