Gravity Breakers development team breaks down combat mechanics in their latest video

Gravity Breakers is an independent fighting game being developed with a unique premise — every character flies in midair throughout the fight, and you are able to fly freely across the stage. With that in mind, they had to break the mold of traditional fighters in order to design a combat system that would work within the style they’re going for.

Their lead developer Joseph recently released a video showcasing this. While maintaining differing types of normal attacks, their specials work in a similar vein to games of the Smash variety, due to the difficulty of keeping characters in free flight and performing special move motions. The game also looks to ditch health bars for HP totals, while also showing a combo lockout mechanic if a combo goes on too long.

Catch the replay of Punk & MenaRD’s epic Street Fighter V set at Kumite in Tennessee

Two of the youngest players on the tournament circuit are also now two of the best. Punk spent the majority of the Capcom Pro Tour at the top of the leaderboard, and is still ranked #1 in the world. Despite MenaRD’s low seed in the Capcom Cup bracket, the Dominican proved to be one of the best in the world by taking the entire tournament.

Previous, these players faced on in a first-to-five at the Hawaii salty suite at Evo 2017, and MenaRD came out on top. With a half of a year behind them, who comes out on top in this epic exhibition at Kumite in Tennessee?

FGpop shows off early solo and tag combos for Touhou 15.5’s Koishi Komeiji

Touhou 15.5 ~ Antinomy of Common Flowers is a wildly different beast then the demo version that was first distributed nearly a year ago, at least when looking at the game’s combo system. As FGpop notes in thier latest combo video for returning character Koishi Komeiji, juggle options are limited in AoCF, but individual move damage overall is higher then in the previous game Urban Legend in Limbo.

That doesn’t mean Koishi is weak, though.  This character, unique among the cast for her ability to “store” her special moves, pumps out good damage and plays well with a wide variety of assists. These facts combined with the fact she still has one of the game’s best jump-ins with j.5A, and Koishi is a great character for those willing to work through her unique storage mechanic.

Peter Souvannarath shares simple ways to combo into Rage Arts for Geese in Tekken 7

Despite having more Rage Arts then the majority of the cast in Tekken 7, Geese Howard’s set of RAs are some of the more difficult to use in the game. Rashomon is a slow, unblockable high that will rarely hit anyone that knows its gimmick, and Deadly Rave requires a finesse that is a little different from other move execution in Tekken. To actually threaten anyone with your RAs as Geese, you have no choice but to learn to combo into them.

While we have featured many more complex Geese videos here at SRK, it’s more important to have practical-yet-powerful combos first. Peter Souvannarath‘s latest video aims to help new Geese players spend their Rage Arts wisely in combos, instead of as an easily-defeated Hail Mary.
