Hoping to usher in a new era of FGC events in the St. Louis area, the Apollo tournament series is setting off on its maiden voyage on December 16th. Based out of the new Moonbase Market in St. Louis’ historic Soulard neighbourhood, this two-day monthly looks to give the Missouri FGC a new event to rally around.

For its first outing, Apollo: The Maiden Voyage will be hosting tournaments for the following games:

• Super Smash Bros. for Wii U ($500 pot bonus for singles, $150 for doubles)
• Super Smash Bros. Melee  ($300 pot bonus for singles, $150 for doubles)
• Street Fighter V ($200 pot bonus)
• Tekken 7 ($200 pot bonus)
• Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite ($100 pot bonus)
• Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 ($50 pot bonus)
• ARMS ($50 pot bonus)

If ARMS and Guilty Gear get at least 16 sign-ups, the Apollo TOs will increase the pot bonus to $100. If any of the other games reach over 32 entrants, $100 will be added to their respective prize-pots. Electric Wind God Vids is back with some more character counter-strategies: today we’re tackling Eddy’s “Relax” stance. Its name is good advice for those that may be struggling against it — it’s not as scary as it initially appears!

With its small hurtbox and powerful mix-up options, Eddy’s “Relax” stance is, at first, frustrating and powerful. However, many of the transitions into Relax are very unsafe, and if you know your options, you can shut it down.

Bandai Namco Game’s latest character introduction trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ focuses on none other than Android 18. As one of the two surviving Androids from the “Androids/Cell Arc” of Dragon Ball Z, Android 18 is bound to play an important role in the events of the game.

The trailer below focuses on some of the moves she can do while calling her twin brother — Android 17 — for help. This includes a combo, as well as her level 3 super combo that has the both of them (assuming that her husband Krillin isn’t on the team to take 17’s place) ganging up on her opponent before finishing them off with a double ki blast.

Dragon Ball FighterZ launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26 in North America and Europe, and February 1 in Japan.

For the next round of his anime and manga reference videos for the ever-increasing cast of Dragon Ball FighterZ, IKevinX looks at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament Champion — and one of the original Z Fighters — Tien Shinhan.

Having his own titular Saga in the original Dragon Ball, as well as being on the front lines during the Siayan Saga, his given the developers quite a bit to work with — despite the fact that he’s wearing his new attire from Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and Super. As such, most of his moveset comes from his legendary battles in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament against the likes of Yamcha, Jackie Chun and, of course, Goku. Though he also draws on moves used in various video games, his fight with King Piccolo’s son Drum, the Dodonpa, which he only used once in the original manga, and of course assists from Chiaotzu.

We also see his Level 3/Meteor Attack, the Neo Tri-Beam, which was used to pin down Semi-Perfect Cell in a desperate last stand to prevent him from absorbing Android 18 (which in-game will cost his very life force to empower, in exchange for doing massive damage to your foes).

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released outside of Japan on January 26th, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC, with standard, FighterZ, Ultimate and CollectorZ Editions. A Japanese release will follow on February 1st for the same platforms. An open beta test will also occur sometime before the title’s full release.

If you’re new to Injustice 2 and looking to learn how to be competitive, Body Count Fighting has been pumping out character tips and combo videos throughout the year, with notable players coming in to break down select characters. They also show how to do some basic combos and setups for beginners.

In the first video below, BCF co-host Kyle Shire sits down with Evan “EGP|WonderChef” Hashimoto to over what Gorilla Grodd is capable of. WonderChef goes over what his Trait does, as well as showing some basic combos and mix-ups to utilize in matches.

For the second video, Shire and Dustin “Godspeed” Kane go over the basics of the pyro master, Firestorm. Godspeed breaks down Firestorm’s special movies in both Trait and non-Trait forms, his zoning basics, some high-damaging combos, and high/low mix-ups and setups.

If you missed Sunday’s culmination of the Tekken 7 World Tour — well, it was one heck of a show. Approximately 40,000 viewers on Twitch tuned in to not only see some top notch Tekken 7 gameplay, but also a surprising character reveal in the form of Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis as DLC.

Xuses compiled a highlights reel showcasing some hype moments from the tournament. Among “Where’s my water?!” moments with Qudans, the Korean player rocks the crowd with his Devil Jin performance. His dominating show often included hype confirms into the Rage Art attack. Echo Fox|Saint brought amazing Jack-7 gameplay.

Other than them, Circa|Joey Fury showed tenacity with Paul, pulling off close wins against Master Raven, used by CCG|Tissuemon. Also, can’t forget to mention Echo Fox|JDCR, whose Dragunov put the opponent on their toes plenty of times.

The long journey to the Tekken World Tour Finals has ended, and what an event it was. Between Qudans’ legendary finals run, the announcement of soon-reduced PS4 lag, and Namco’s surprise Noctis reveal, there’s renewed clamor for the biggest 3D fighter in the world: Tekken 7. Off-stage, players were lining up to try their hand with the next DLC character Geese Howard, and in the process they’ve gathered a lot of data on how SNK’s favorite boss might shape up in the final version.

Okay, so after watching and playing Geese Howard for like 8 hours straight:

1) Very low airborne combo damage
2) Grounded combo damage above average
3) Not much reason to duck overall
4) FC d/f+1 might be the least intuitive input ever for WS launch

2, f+1, qcf+2 xx qcf,qcf+1+2 is probably one of the dumbest things ever added. NC string that appears to be completely safe on block and you literally have a second to HC into Super for 40% open field. Add in rage and wall and you're looking at an easy 60%.

Some quirks and nice to knows:

1) You can pump to buffer super and can beat fireballs on reaction
2) d/f+1 range is less than basically everyone else's
3) Command RA! is absolutely terrible, needs more range
4) d+4 can be MAXc on hit only, why?

1) Air fireball pushes Geese way back
2) u/f+2 seems specially designed to counter other Geese, Akuma, and Elizas
3) Only a few attacks with MAXc lead to follow-ups on NH
4) qcf+2 first hit eats fireballs but the actual projectile has only 1 dura

2) His reversals ONLY work against H, M, or L (you need to guess which)
3) Reversal cannot be chickened

Meter is obviously very important and unlocks his actual punishment game (which is admittedly strange as well). You gain meter at roughly 2x versus blocked and it seems like meter gain scales with the moves you use. For instance, 1,2 (blocked) is a sliver but 1,2,3 is a bit more.

UK Tekken Pro King Jae shared a long set of Geese practice, and you can really see both players start to get comfortable with him as time progresses…

…and the same can be said for the matches from EvilBowlOfCereal, who also provides some valuable commentary while playing.
