Weiss tells her story in this RWBY X BlazBlue: Central Fiction Izayoi combo video

Fans who appreciate both RWBY and fine BlazBlue: Central Fiction combos are in for another treat. Koefficient is back with a new collaboration, starring RedJoker’s combo work this time. We’re looking at Izayoi, who has a color reference to RWBY‘s Weiss.

Interposed with video footage from the show, the video stylishly mixes combos in tune with the soundtrack. And if you think it’s slow at the beginning, just wait till things kick up a notch. I’m not sure anyone can follow Izayoi combos other than the players who use her, but it’s very entertaining to watch her zoom around the screen, particularly when she enhances her combos with the Distortion Drive, Slaver Trans-Am.

The last video had BlazBlue‘s Es pose as Ruby. More RWBY-themed movies are on the way, however! Tune in to SRK for the next one.

Devil May Cry may have started it all, but Dante at this point has Devil Triggered everyone in the Marvel Vs. Capcom series. As one of the more interesting characters of the series due to his very technical moveset, he has become one of the most popular characters in the franchise, owing mainly to his origins.

XusesGB takes us back to his origins from the very first Devil May Cry, following Dante’s adventure to become the top tier menace he is now in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. And yes, this list does include DmC: Devil May Cry as well.

Exploring Fighting Games episode 6 focuses on how to assert pressure during a match

Exploring Fighting Games is back after a bit of a break. Picking up what the last episode started, number six covers creating powerful pressure to keep the opponent blocking and eventually hit. That part mostly explained how to extend a pressure string, and this new one delves deeper.

The video calls parts of pressure “chain phases,” which are divided into early, middle, and late sections. Those correspond to light, medium, and heavy attacks. Lighter attacks present more cancelling options, but those are generally short-ranged. However, if your character has longer reach, you could end pressure at a distance where the opponent can’t hit you back, depending on their toolset. Mix in “pseudo extenders” and baits to overcome the opponent’s defenses.

Refer to the previous episode of Exploring Fighting Games to get started, and in an unrelated note, the channel is looking for an additional narrator to bring more FGC content.

Doctrine Dark and Cracker Jack showcase their Excel-free combos in Street Fighter EX 2+

Who says you need Excel to play Street Fighter EX 2+? Given the fact that ARIKA’s new title doesn’t feature this mechanic, now would be a good time to start practicing not using it, and this combo video show you just how beastly your characters can be without using Excel.

In this video Doctrine Dark and Cracker Jack show off their combo capabilities. While Dark has less damage, his mix-up potential off any normal combo is much greater. He also has a nifty win pose that only happens if he wins without using meter, and if he wins off of a chip damage explosive. Jack, on the other hand, doles out heaps of damage off any Excel-less combo, including a horribly impractical one that features only two hits and requires the use of two final charge punches.

Looking to step up your Injustice 2 game? NRS pros WonderChef, Cheeko, and Han Rashid stopped by the Body Count Fighting‘s show “The Hitbox” to share their strategies and combos with various characters.

WonderChef loves the versatility and zoning of Starfire…

…which stands in opposition to his highly mobile pressure and mix up oriented Black Manta.

Han Rashid chatted about the chattering teeth wake-up game of Joker.

And lastly, Cheeko talks about how the neutral-controlling Deadshot is strong regardless of what range he’s in.

Saudi woman wins SNK’s design contest for character to appear in an upcoming KoF game

For some of the more creatively inclined members of the community, getting their original designs into a fighting game would be a dream come true. Recently, SNK and Manga Productions gave a chance to have someone’s dream come true via a design contest for a character to appear in an upcoming game.

The winner of the contest was BMashael, a Saudi woman with her original design named Najd.  Najd’s design features her wearing an abaya (a type of cloak) that belongs to a djinn named Halek. The djinn will then assist Najd for some of her attacks.

As for what game exactly Najd will be appearing in, nothing specific has been stated as of yet. All that’s stated is that it’s for an upcoming King of Fighters game. Whether or not this is a new installment of the franchise, or simply a spin-off is as of yet unknown.

In the meantime, here’s SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda on the winner of the contest, as well as some BMashael’s artwork for Najd.

Make a comeback with these Kagura 2.0 BlazBlue: Central Fiction combos

Kagura was mostly a “no show” in 1.0 BlazBlue: Central Fiction. Far from his strong, original showing in BlazBlue: Chronophantasma, his CF version just didn’t hold up. Without as much damage as before and fairly predictable mix-ups, he was considered a fairly weak character. However, the tide has considerably shifted in the 2.0 patch, and even if tier-wise he isn’t as powerful as some, he’s certainly a force to be reckoned with.

A very noticeable change for Kagura is the way his combos work now. It’s much easier to tack on more damage to the opponent, for instance, by finishing off more mid-screen combos with his C Dragon Punch. Hentaitop is back with another great combo collection video, which starts with a great explanation of Kagura’s moves and notations. The video is a walkthrough of basic combos into intermediate, finishing off with Overdrive combos.

There’s another stance Kagura tutorial you can look into as well, and check out the combo primer below:

Gamble big on Yoshimitsu’s unblockable tech traps in Tekken 7

Because Yoshimitsu is the type of guy that brings a sword to a fist fight, he gets access to some odd tools other characters in the game simply don’t have. While there’s a lot of ways to utilize these different sword techniques, one of the most interesting and exciting ways is to use them in tech traps.

Yoshimitsu has access to a wide variety of unblockables. Because they hit at so many different angles, it’s realistic (but very gimmicky) for him to cover any wake-up option if he pays attention to his opponent’s habits. You won’t base your entire game off these tech traps in Tekken 7, but having them in your back pocket for the perfect moment can lead to an absurd amount of damage to your foe’s health bar and mental state.
