TEKKEN TRAINING: Electric Wind God Vids — Ranking Sidestep

The internet seemed to be lacking in a ranking of step effectiveness for characters in Tekken 7. To this goal, Electric Wind God Vids returns to rank the sidestep of every character in the game!

Note that this serves as reference to sidestepping, and not side-walking. If you are a little unclear on the difference between these two, we advise you to check out our previous sidestep tutorial, located here. We will follow up this video with a ranking of sidewalk effectiveness in the near future.

Check out Brian F’s setplay strategy against standing 3-frame jabs with Street Fighter V’s Balrog

Looking to Street Fighter IV‘s Hakan for inspiration, famed Balrog player Brian_F has developed some excellent new set-play tech for Street Fighter V.

In Street Fighter IV, Hakan’s Oil Dive command grab (which couldn’t grab crouching opponents) took advantage of the fact that all opponents were considered standing when they were getting up off the ground. This curious quirk about getting off the ground is still true in SFV — the only way to be considered crouching is to use a crouching option on wake-up. For characters that have to rely on standing moves for their fastest panic buttons, Brian F has altered his wake-up options to keep them locked in place.

Vegeta’s English voice actor, Christopher Sabat, reveals more about Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Story Mode

Continuing their month-long coverage of Dragon Ball FighterZ, Game Informer got to chat with veteran voice actor, Christopher Sabat about his history with the Dragon Ball franchise. As the voice of Vegeta, Piccolo and Yamcha — as well as the VO producer for Dragon Ball Z and Super — it’s fair to say he knows a little bit about the series. During his interview with Game Informer, he let slip some interesting details about Dragon Ball FighterZ and its Story Mode.

The most obvious bit of news is that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be feature the Funimation English voice cast, with actors like Sabat, Sean Schemmel and Kyle Hebert reprising their roles from the show. According to Sabat, the actual Story Mode does “some very clever stuff” with the cast, with characters often breaking the fourth wall to talk about the action going on on screen.

For example, Yamcha even thanks the player for making him look so cool in battle, meaning that the characters are conscious that they are being controlled by a third party. Bandai Namco and Arc System Works seem to be leaning into the comedic aspect of this non-canon story, which should make for some great moments.

As for the voice of new character Android 21, Sabat reveals that she will be voiced by Jeannie Tirado whose only previous role in Dragon Ball has been the voice of Baby Pan. She’s no stranger to voice acting though, having voiced Sol in SMITE, Zera in Fairy Tail and Clemm in Tales of Zestiria The X.

Besides that, Sabat kept tight-lipped about any other aspects of Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s Story Mode, and any other characters that may be popping up in the game. With Paris Games Week at the end of this month and then PSX in December, I’d expect for more character reveals before 2017 is over.

Hazama, Rachel, Weiss confirmed for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch

Arc System Works was at the Rooster Teeth Expo in London this weekend where they had a number of announcements to make regarding BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. During their livestream, not only did they reveal new characters, but they also announced which platforms the game is coming to.

First up, three new characters have been revealed. BlazBlue‘s Rachel Alucard and Hazama are joining the cast, alongside RWBY‘s Weiss Schnee. For those not familiar with the latter series, Weiss is one of the main characters, being part of Team RWBY.

In addition to these three, Arc System Works also revealed that platforms that the game is coming to. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will be coming to not only PlayStation 4, but also to the PC (via Steam), and to Nintendo Switch. The last one is great news for the platform, which has so far, tended to feature mostly rehashes of classic fighting games (aside from Nintendo’s offerings).

Finally, because this matters to some people, some form of dual-audio was seemingly also confirmed — at least for the RWBY characters.

The next set of reveals for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is set for late October. In the meantime, check Rachel, Hazama, and Weiss out in this new character trailer.

Zeku, the Ever-Changing Ninja comes to Street Fighter V on October 24th

In a reveal nobody saw coming, the final character for Season 2 of Street Fighter V is indeed Zeku, the Ever-Changing Ninja. While he may look old, this grandmaster and Guy’s former sensei is still in control of his ninja reflexes, flipping all over the screen to mix up his opponent.

He’s also got great range on some of his kick specials, leaving behind a trail of ink which can tag the opponent. Similar to Akuma’s Demon Flip, Zeku also has a high flying flip move, which can lead into a command grab or a overhead kick in its EX version.

Zeku’s V-Trigger looks to greatly increase his mobility, giving him access to a M. Bison-esque teleport dash. By using a certain special, Zeku teleports away and then reappears from the top of the screen, changing outfits and seemingly ages in the process. If you are using Zeku’s base costume, his outfit change will have him looking like another famous Capcom ninja — Strider Hiryu. When in his Strider stance, Zeku looks to get a brand new set of specials, including a rekka chain which appears similar to Karin’s Guren-Ken.

This gentleman ninja comes with two sets of Battle, Story and Premium costumes — one set for his older form and another for his younger self. Expect a full breakdown of Zeku’s specials, V-Skill and V-Trigger from Capcom Unity in the coming days, and you’ll be able to get your hands on this shape-shifting shinobi on October 24th.

CLG teases their new Melee documentary, following SFAT at The Big House 7

We’ve had various documentaries on the Gods and the Godslayer — it’s time for a documentary on one of Melee’s demi-gods. Ahead of its release in next week, esports organization CLG have released a trailer for their mini-doc, following top NorCal Fox and MIOM rank eight SFAT at The Big House 7.

As well as tailing him as he competes in both Melee singles and doubles, this documentary has SFAT talking to camera, discussing his thoughts on the idea of the Melee gods. He’s personally not a fan, as the title god builds up this image of these players being unbeatable beings — something that SFAT has himself proved to be wrong, having defeated three of the gods during his Melee career.

The documentary titled “SFAT – The Non Believer” will be available to watch via the CLG YouTube channel on Tuesday October 17th.

Frank West embraces the walking dead, Ultron, Jedah and Morrigan get optimized and Dormmamu’s thorns get pruned in this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roundup

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite tech continues to pour out like a waterfall, so it’s in everyone’s best interests for us to break down the best of the best, and throw them into this handy roundup for you to grab tech from. There’s a lot of characters with new tech today, so be prepared to take a lot of notes.

Firstly, we have some new loops for Frank West. In these first two videos, we see zombie loops with Ultron that work in the corner and midscreen and avoid the use of the tripod.

In the third video, we swap out Ultron for Captain Marvel, but see the return of the tripod into the zombie loop mix.

Next, we have some sick space stone setups with Thanos that in a matter of two incorrect guesses could cost people a character.

Next up, we have a series of videos from Rooflemonger, who shows off the combo potential of Haggar, Morrigan, and Ultron, while also going over the basics of each character in great detail.

Next up, Xero18 shows off some more Spider-Man tech. This one deals with getting an additional OTG off of Maximum Spider, which acts as an OTG itself. By tagging in your partner and positioning them midscreen, you can OTG and extend your combo.

Next up, we have some heavily stylish and optimized combos for Jedah. These definitely show off the capabilities of the character in solo mode.

Did someone say they want more Lightning Loops? Zero decided 7 years of them wasn’t enough, and Captain Marvel agrees, as she has a solid setup for the loop handy.

Anyone that has watched Filipino Champ play is well aware of how dangerous Dormammu’s rose garden is. This move could be one of the biggest reasons he got his win at SCR, but like all great tech, we learn how to deal with it. Using invincible moves alongside pushblocks, it becomes pretty easy to punish a blocked rose garden.

To complement that, here’s a compilation of all the invincible moves in the game.

With the discovering of the Hit Stun Decay glitch, people are working night and day to optimize it. Here’s a pretty disgusting space stone loop using the HSD glitch, starring Thanos and X and directed by none other than desk.

Finally James Chen takes the time to show newcomers how to build and execute combos in this edition of Execution Corner.

Tune back in for more crazy Marvel tech. May your lab time be fruitful!

Here’s 10 launch punishable moves in Tekken 7 you should learn to destroy

The experience of playing Tekken 7, or really any 3D fighter with large move-lists, is built around the constant discovery of different characters strengths and weaknesses. It’s impossible to know everyone’s frame data right out of the gate, so there will always be some move someone is using versus you whose frame safety is much worse then it initially seems.

But in 2017, it’s easier to move past this barrier then it has ever been before. In Scallywag 93‘s latest tutorial video, he breaks down 10 common launch-punishable tools that you need to learn to destroy on reaction. These are not gimmicky tools — everything listed here are viable weapons your opponents will be looking for ways to use against you. Being able to nullify them consistently will put you a step closer to mastering each of these match-ups, so go hit training mode and start learning!

Top 10 characters missing from Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, according to ScrewAttack!

Who are you missing the most from previous Marvel vs. Capcom games? Surely you’ve thought about this a lot leading up to the game’s release. While there’s hope for more DLC, we know that the X-Men leave a large hole in the cast that may potentially never be filled. Nonetheless, ScrewAttack! takes us down memory lane and gives a larger look at Marvel franchises to talk about which characters could be in Infinite.

Starting with Ant-Man, the videos pitches him as a stance character whose moveset would vary depending on his size. Next, delving into the past, Captain Commando, who has been speculated to join the cast, is mentioned. To round off the cast with more humor, ScrewAttack! wants to see Amingo return to the game. But maybe Marvel will pull in someone from its Netflix series into the game? Phoenix Wright and Squirrel Girl also make the list — until the video reaches the obvious choice.

Do you agree with the list? There’s so many franchises Capcom could pull characters, but which are most pressing to round off the cast? Sound off below.

Start on the path to combo mastery with Novril’s guide to learning long combos

With the recent discovery of the hit-stun decay glitch in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, players are starting to develop super long, touch-of-death combos. If you’re still learning Marvel’s systems, it can be awfully daunting to even recreate these 100+ hit sequences, let alone think of your own. To help players who may be struggling to perform these mammoth combos, Novril has created a short tutorial which should aid you on your quest.

The most important thing to do is to break one combo down into a series of small sections. Practice each section multiple times by itself so you can build up your muscle memory. Once you have mastered each part, try linking them together in the same sequence — pausing to practice transitions that you struggle with. Keep on doing this until you can do the whole combo without any mistakes. Don’t forget to do it on both sides of the screen, just to be sure!

Make sure to take breaks if you are getting frustrated — as well as to give your hands a rest from all that work. It is a long and laborious process at first, but you will get better if you practice regularly.
