Playable BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is coming to New York Comic Con, RTX London, and more

During the Tokyo Game Show 2017 Twitch presentation, Toshimichi Mori from Arc System Works got on stage during a special BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle event. The panel presented an overview of the crossover in Japanese, resuming some already known information, like slides showing Yosuke Hanamura and Linne.

Toward the end of the panel, Mori announced a few dates and locations — BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will be playable at certain events around the world for the first time! Check out the timetable below:

bbxtagschedule

For those going to New York Comic Con, that means that BBXTAG will be playable for them in as little as about three weeks. After that, three more locations around the world will host a playable build, ending with Arc System Works’ own ARC REVOLUTION CUP in Japan. While there were no character or content announcements, that is really soon!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has abrupt combo-limiting mechanics

No more infinites in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, eh?

Players are busy figuring out the limitations of the newly released Marvel vs. CapcomInfinite. In desk’s latest videos, he finds something interesting. By testing out combos made entirely out of normal attacks, it seems like Capcom put in an awkward-looking stopper to infinites.

In the video below, you can see combos from Captain Marvel and Chun-Li made out of normal attacks only. It appears that the combo automatically drops after the 38th hit lands. The opponent simply flips out in the air. desk calls this a “true end” to the combo, meaning it’s not possible to continue it further, regardless of hitstun decay. He speculates this could be linked to using light attacks, or that there’s an actual hard limit on combo hits.

Conversely, rooflemonger, in the video below, explores a different aspect. According to his testing, the combos seem to end based more on damage, than hitstun. He goes about discovering this in a different method, though: by doing highly damaging combos nearing 4.8K. Maybe there are two different ways a combo can be forced to drop?

Let us know in the comments below what you’ve dug up so far about MvC:I and how these combo stoppers actually work. Check out our MvC:I tutorial round-ups for more coverage on the game.

New Gorilla Grodd cancel removes all landing recovery from Primal Leap Lunge in Injustice 2

Gorilla Grodd’s special Primal Leap was originally meant to be a get-in toll for the intelligent ape versus zoning characters in Injustice 2. However, its landing recovery and vulnerability to easy anti-airs limited its usefulness. A new discovery for this move, however, may change that altogether:

Originally discovered by DoctorStabs and demonstrated by MK_REO, a properly-timed leap cancel allows Gorilla Grodd to instantly act upon touching the ground. Throws, lows, and frightening resets are now open immediately from the Primal Leap.

Learn the basics of frame data with volume 11 of the Git Gud Series

For newcomers to the fighting game genre, one of the most daunting things to learn is frame data. This importance of frame data to success is almost entirely exclusive to fighters, and involves a lot of numbers to delve into that can leave players baffled.

If you are trying to become better at fighting games, however, frame data is still one of the most important things to learn. It not only is one of the key things that dictates what moves can combo, but also shows you where you can punish your opponents — and how to keep yourself from being punished. This tutorial in the Git Gud Series shows the basics, using Street Fighter V as an example. It shows the clear-cut examples of what will usually be safe or unsafe, but also asks you to study specifics on your own.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite character tutorials for Chun-Li, Nova, Thanos, Dante, Nemesis, and Thor

With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite now officially released, Unequalled Media, FingerCramp, and Capcom UK Community Manager Matt “The Street Writer” Edwards have released the next half-dozen character tutorials for the playable cast. This selection of videos focuses on Chun-Li, Nova, the “Mad Titan” Thanos, Dante, Nemesis and Thor.

As always, Edwards provides us with a brief character overview, before going over each hero and villain’s specials, and unique skills — such as Thanos’s command normals or Chun’s ability to enhance her specials using her traditional charge inputs — before closing on an Infinity Stone recommendation. They also highlight one basic and one advanced combo, shown at both normal and 50% speed, in addition to giving a quick listen to the new character themes.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. The final six character tutorials for Spider-Man, Frank West, Doctor Strange, Rocket Raccoon, Firebrand and Jedah Dohma should arrive sometime later this week. You can view our coverage of the previous tutorials at the following links:

Tell your opponents to buzz off with these Ed setups and mix-ups for Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V‘s Ed has been known to have some amazing setup potential with his V-Trigger. But it’s truly coming to light now how deadly his potential is. As featured in this video, he has everything from dangerous shimmy setups, left-right mix-ups, and reset potential.

But that’s not all: his ability to dole out damage after a Crush Counter is otherworldly. Without expending any V-Trigger, Ed can earn upwards of 50% damage off of a Crush Counter standing roundhouse, with various hit confirms into his Critical Art. These are definitely setups you want within your repertoire.

Exert your will on wake-up with Green Lantern’s Will Power Wall in Injustice 2

Having trouble with your opponent’s wake-up options as Green Lantern? Maybe you just need more will power. Or, at least, you need to use his “Will Power Wall” more.

This is the subject of MK_REO‘s new video for Injustice 2: using the (normally unsafe) “Will Power Wall” after a knockdown will trap and limit your opponent’s various wake-up options. After specific setups, using the Wall accomplishes a lot for you: it frame traps, beats wake-up options, defeats parries, and sets up a giant chip-damage trap if your opponent respects it enough to block.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roundup: tutorials & combos for Captain Marvel, Captain America, Gamora, & more

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has only been officially out for a day, but we’re already seeing a lot of content being made for the game.

A number of players have started out putting videos that are dedicated to helping newer players get up to speed with the series. The first of these is this “How to Combo” video by TrueUnderDawgGaming. The video specifically covers the basic “magic series” chain system, while also touching up on the rules regarding wall bounce, ground bounce, and off-the-ground extensions.

Next up, Spab has put up a tutorial that explains how to wave dash in the game:

Moving on to combos, we’ve got a bunch of day one combos and some early bread-and-butters. These may not be the most optimal combos we’ll find in the game’s lifetime, but they’re generally easy to do, and do a good chunk of damage. First up, this day one bread-and-butter combo for Captain America by NASTYxNATE:

WholeGrainWheat showcases this Captain Marvel combo that ca do a decent amount of damage. Notably, the combo doesn’t require any flight cancels to go into the usual heavy punch into air dash “staircase” loops that most flight characters in the game have.

Rhapsdos, on the other hand, shows off a combo for Dormammu that lets him charge enough spells to be able to summon Fire Thorns after the combo ends, which can allow for more pressure and mix-ups.

Godofnopants shows off this combo for Gamora that does nearly 7,000 damage, uses no Infinity Stones — but does use a lot of guns.

For those looking for big damage team combos, marlonlonmilk demonstrates a near 9,000 damage combo for the team of Chun-Li and Gamora. The amazing thing is that it does all that damage at the cost of only 1 stock of Hyper meter.

If that wasn’t big enough damage for you, ItsRipto has shared this Power Stone combo for Jedah and Thanos that will outright kill low health (9,050 hit point) characters.

Of course, at the rate of which people are playing and breaking Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite down, there will be more videos coming! Stay locked on to Shoryuken for more on Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and other fighting games.
