Enjoy more Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite character tutorials: Gamora, Chris Redfield, Spencer, Hulk, & Strider Hiryu

With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite launching in a mere five days, the Marvel vs. Capcom YouTube channel continues to roll out more character tutorials with the help of Unequalled Media and FingerCramp. As always, Capcom UK Community Manger Matt “The Street Writer” Edwards returns to provide narration.

After covering Mega Man X, Ryu, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Morrigan, and Captain America in the initial batch, the subjects of today’s round are Gamora, Chris Redfield, Nathan “Rad” Spencer, Hulk, Dormammu, and Strider Hiryu.

As before, these videos provide a brief character introduction, before covering each of their special moves, unique skills — such as Chris’s Prone Position, Strider’s wall cling or Hulk’s new wall jump (the Avalanche Leap) — and Hyper combos. Each video also provides demonstrations of both basic and advanced combos for each character, before closing on an Infinity Stone recommendation, such as using the Mind Stone for Dormammu to have access to more Stalking Flares, or giving Strider Hiryu the Soul Stone to effectively increase his overall health pool, making him a bit less of a glass cannon.

You can see all six videos below, while also getting a chance to listen to their new character themes, though Chris’s has been inadvertently replaced with Nemesis’. You can also check out Japanese character trailers for Iron Man and Chris here and here respectively.

A new Japanese trailer has also dropped for Gamora:

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be released in North America and Europe this Tuesday, September 19th, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. A Japanese release for the same platforms will follow two days later on Thursday, September 21st.

Bow before the glory of Lord Frieza in his Dragon Ball FighterZ character introduction video

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe continues their series of character introduction trailers for the cast of the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ, this time focusing on arguably the series most popular villain, (and my personal favorite) the tyrannical and sadistic Frieza.

As usual, this trailer highlights his intro animation, his incoming animation, as well as special attacks and supers, including his ki blasts, a grab that pays homage to way he killed Krillin, his Level 3 Golden Frieza transformation, and of course his Death Ball to once again wipe out that pesky Planet Namek. You can see the full trailer below.

Dragon Ball FigherZ will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC in both standard and CollectorZ editions. Pre-ordering will grant you early access to the title’s open beta test, as well as early unlocks for Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta and a pair of exclusive online lobby avatars. The closed beta is set to begin this weekend, running from September 16th to the 17th. You can see the previous character intros for Goku and Vegeta here.

Black Manta video roundup for Injustice 2: Using Manta Ray Laser, combos, float cancels, and more!

Injustice 2 players that purchased the “Fighter Pack #2” DLC have had a few days to play with the latest villain to hit the roster, Black Manta. Aquaman’s arch-nemesis is technical, controls mid-range well, and comes equipped with a fantastic whiff punisher with his f+21 string. Let’s see what tech the community has developed for him!

rooflemonger starts us out with a combo guide. You’ll definitely want to have these down once you see all the situations Black Manta can convert off of!

That float canceling in the combo video isn’t just to show off: it has real practical applications as a mix-up tool, as demonstrated by mjewaiian.

Combine your float cancels with instant Air Torpedoes, as demonstrated by MK_REO, you can really smother opponents in close and mid range.

MK_REO also has some insight on the unique properties of Manta Ray laser…

…and his mixups and pressure.

While not quite as ambiguous as the corner setup above, here’s another cross up setup mid screen from mjewaiian.

And last but not least, rooflemonger covers Black Manta’s neutral and overall gameplan.

Leave it all to me! Yosuke and Linne confirmed for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle

Well, we knew a character announcement was coming for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. We didn’t realize we’d be getting two!

Yosuke Hanamura returns from Persona 4 Arena with trusty Persona Jiraiya. From the gameplay we got the chance to see, he retains the high-speed, high-mobility playstyle that made him one of the most successful characters in Persona 4 Arena.

Relatively unsurprising is the arrival of Linne on the scene. Under Night In-Birth‘s leading lady, also known as the Princess of Night Blade, Linne also brings a lightning-fast playstyle to the table. Wielding her sword No-name and her knife Nameless, it sounds a miracle that she has a name herself.

Check out how each of the two plays in the announcement video below — after the footage of BlazBlue’s Jin Kisaragi.

Chill out to this Consouls cover of Melty Blood: Actress Again’s Blood Drain

Whether your copy of Melty Blood: Actress Again is sitting gathering dust or not, this jazzy cover by the Consouls is a great tune. The band, which has performed a long list of videogame-themed songs, is looking to celebrate the upcoming anime-centric tournament in Florida: CEOtaku.

Blood Drain is the game’s opening theme, which also has vocals. It’s also Eltnum’s theme in Under Night In-Birth. Though the original in Melty Blood has some of that subtlety, the Consouls really take it to the next level with a smooth saxophone and more piano. Give it a listen below — maybe they’ll do more anime tracks in the future?

The group has also done Slayer’s theme from Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, and collaborated on Karin’s theme from Street Fighter V.

Honest Game Trailers gives us their take on the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise

With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite being released to the general gaming public next week, it was only a matter of time for an Honest Game Trailer to be uploaded on YouTube. Lo and behold, the folks at Smosh Games did just that, with their latest video poking fun at this revered series.

This video briefly touches on the history of the series, starting with X-Men vs. Street Fighter all the way up to the latest yet-unreleased game — satirically criticizing the trademark fast-paced gameplay, the odd Capcom character choices, and even so far as to address the recent controversies with MvC:I; suggesting we start playing another fighting game series instead. Check out the video if you want a good laugh!

CrossUPDP asks: What makes a great fighting game player?

Fighting games are hard — so what does it take to be actually good at them?

After admitting the former blissful ignorance of mashing buttons in older titles, CrossUPDP describes the harsh wake-up call of going online in Street Fighter IV and getting the reality check of how these games are really played. What follows is an analysis of what elements are needed to achieve victory in fighting games, categorized into levels of proficiency: DECENT (grasping the basic skills), GOOD (applying more advanced concepts), and GREAT — and what properties separate these levels. Check it out below.

The Phantom Gundam and Nightingale show off their stuff in these new Gundam Versus trailers

As previously reportedGundam Versus is getting a couple of new DLC mobile suits later this month. These are the EMS-TC02 Phantom Gundam and the MSN-04II Nightingale. For those wondering how these two mobile suits will look and play like in the game, Bandai Namco has recently released trailers for them.

Coming from the manga spin-off Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Ghost, the Phantom Gundam, piloted by Font Baud comes with its “Butterfly Busters,” “Flame Sword,” and of course, it’s vaunted “Minovsky Drive” which provides the suit with a number of buffs, including the “Wings of Light.”

Meanwhile, the Nightingale from the Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counterattack – Beltorchika’s Children novelization, piloted by the famous Char Aznable, is a buffed-up version of the MSN-04 Sazabi from the original movie. It features an impressive array of weapons, including the infamous “funnel” attack drones that allow it to fire an impressive spread of beams.

Both of these will be available for purchase in over the PlayStation Network in Japan for ¥602 on September 26. Meanwhile, Gundam Versus hits North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe on September 29.

Perfect your rhythm with mastermind’s Lucky Chloe tutorial for Tekken 7

When Lucky Chloe was first unleashed on the world, there was fear that she was the Eddy Gordo stand-in for Tekken 7. Now that we’ve all had time to experiment with her (and, perhaps more importantly, contrast her with Eddy’s moveset) we can see that this is far from the case. Nevertheless, the arguably bottom tier newcomer appears to simultaneously stump new players learning her, and frustrate opponents that haven’t figured out what she’s doing yet.

For both sides, mastermind has put together an hour-and-a-half long tutorial for G-Corp’s popstar. This excellent tutorial breaks down Lucky Chlol’s primary pokes, punishment, and overall game-plan. Settle in with this dance lesson and you’ll know how to fight — and fight against — Lucky Chloe’s moves in no time.
