Maximilian shares some thoughts — and footage — of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite from E3

Love or hate him, Maximilian Christiansen has done a great job in pushing fighting game content for more casual players. While he covers a lot of fighting games, the one series in particular that he’s been most associated with is the Marvel vs. Capcom series. As such, it should be no surprise that Max was at E3 to try out the latest public build of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

More than just showing gameplay footage and talking about the E3 build, however, Max also talks a bit about the downloadable story mode demo that was released just in time for E3. Specifically, he goes over the differences between the two builds, and how the downloadable demo seems to have been a let-down due to its graphically less-polished state, and the fact that it didn’t focus on the game’s strengths (the gameplay).

That said, there is still a lot of footage from the E3 build, especially since Maximilian finally gets to play his dream team of Mega Man X and Strider Hiryu.

Brolylegs teaches you how to properly utilize anti-airs in Cross Counter TV’s GFinity Training Series

After getting some tips on learning matchups with Echo Fox|Justin Wong and Dr. Fatbody explaining how to deal with five commonly-abused attacks, the next installment in Cross Counter TV’s GFinity Training Series sees AbleGamers|Brolylegs teach players how to properly defend themselves with anti-air attacks in Street Fighter V. Though perhaps a rudimentary concept for some of our readers, being able to properly defend against jump-ins attacks, particularly if they are cross-ups, is an integral part of improving in fighting games in general — especially when they can lead to massive damage, as is the case with SFV.

Utilizing his signature Chun-Li as an example, Broly goes over the differences between using normals as AA options versus using your special attacks, as well as explaining how to find the proper timing, spacing, and reliability to utilize the attacks to ensure maximum effectiveness. He also covers air-to-air situations, and urges players to find the best AA solutions for their character(s) of choice.

For European players looking to show off their skills in online competition, you can find more information about the GFinity Elite Series, featuring Street Fighter V, at www.gifinityelite.com. You can also follow BrolyLegs on Twitter; stay tuned to Cross Counter TV’s channel for more great instructional content.

BornFree talks to Sajam, the king of segues, about commentary and gaming at E3

Sajam has quickly become one of the go-to names in commentary for Street Fighter, and fighting games in general. He’s known for being highly knowledgeable and entertaining, as well as notorious for some of the best [Or at least funniest! – Editor] advertisement segues in the business. He has honed his craft at Wednesday Night Fights and moved up to the big leagues in a relatively short time.

At E3, BornFree caught up with Sajam, and let him bend his ear prior to his flight for CEO about numerous topics. They talked about how he practiced his commentary, and honed his craft in multiple games — something Sajam attributes to actually playing numerous games and characters, to get a feel for mechanics and matchups, as well as learning from his commentary partner, who may be more knowledgeable in a game than himself. They also talked about his impressions of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, in which Sajam echoed Alex Valle’s sentiments of the graphics needing to be fixed, but the gameplay already being fun. They also talked about Capcom’s design decisions, in which he believes that Capcom has gone way too far in the opposite extreme compared to Street Fighter IV, and that player concerns in both directions are legitimate.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Story Demo: desk defeats Ultron Sigma (with swag) using a classic Spencer grapple loop

With the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Story Demo released earlier this month, veteran combo creator and game scientist desk has been exploring the title’s systems — particularly the new freeform tag mechanics — and pushing them to their limits, even while having no access to a proper Training Mode. We’ve already seen him analyze MVC:I’s take on infinite prevention, as well as putting out an initial combo video filled with some very impressive sequences.

Now the content creator provides us with a method to defeat the game’s boss, Ultron Sigma, who players will face in the final battle of the demo (with the team of Spencer and Thor) utilizing a grapple loop with the Bionic Commando.

Though Ultron Sigma takes very little damage, will Advancing Guard nearly all your attacks, and possesses both the Reality and Space Infinity Stones, desk’s loop of J.LP, HP, d+HP (Head Smasher) canceled into down-forward Wire Grapple, combined with Power Stone wallbounces and a few Hypers, should allow you to survive the match. The combo looks similar to some loops from back in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Check out even more of desk’s work with the Story Demo here!
