Mikado Arcade runs tournament for Neo Geo fighter Double Dragon

There was some strange twist of fate that resulted in an arcade fighting game movie tie-in for the box-office-bomb “Double Dragon.” Perhaps even stranger is the fact that this double-jump and air-block heavy Technos fighter is not only playable, but remarkable competitive, as proven by the most recent Mikado Arcade tournament.

You can check out the tournament here:

They also recorded a number of casual matches, which you can see here:

It’s also nice to know that years before Rashid’s “Skies of Honor” stage was making players suffer motion sickness, Double Dragon had its own physics-defying airplane stage!

Ketchup and Mustard become masters of their own (Dr.) Fates in this Injustice 2 “Getting Started” tutorial

As one of the new additions to the cast in Injustice 2, we’ve seen relatively little of Dr Fate so far. Thankfully, PND|Ketchup and Mustard managed to get their hands on the character in a pre-release build, and have put together an extensive beginner’s guide.

Since they only had a couple of hours with the character, don’t expect any enormous strings or gamebreaking tricks, but the Getting Started guide does a fantastic job of getting into the nitty-gritty of the character. Starting with his basic strings and moving on to the unique properties of his special moves, the video ends on some suggestions for a basic gameplan. If you’re planning to dig into the wielder of the Helm of Fate on release, this is absolutely a must-watch video.

Fosh demonstrates how to punish panic assists in Pokkén Tournament

Do safe-on-block panic assists frustrate you in Pokkén Tournament? These assists–Snivy, Umbreon, and Fennekin–are not nearly as safe as you may think. As Fosh demonstrates in his latest tech video, with proper timing and knowledge, you can punish your opponent for any panic assist they may call.

As always, it’s important to know what your character can do in these particular situations. Keep in mind that not all burst attacks are created equal when it comes to their invincibility. With a little training mode practice, though, you should be baiting assists in no time.

PND|Mustard puts you on the path to terror with this guide for Injustice 2’s Scarecrow

Recently, top NetherRealm community content creators PND|Ketchup & Mustard were able to play a pre-release build of Injustice 2 at WB Games UK in London, England, and have begun uploading a series of content from their time with the game.

For their first video, PND|Mustard provides us with an in-depth introduction to the Master of Fear, Scarecrow, as part of their “Getting Started” series. Though some of this information is subject to change in the final release, it’s a great watch for those interested in truly exploring the power of fear! Mustard provides us with a walkthrough of Crane’s normals, specials, strings, as well as ways to best utilize his Trait–with its Damage-Over-Time (DOT) effect. He also covers Scarecrow’s Traumatize ability, that can lead to some terrifying mind-games truly befitting the character. You can see the full video below–and you can also check out his brother Ketchup’s text impressions of Deadshot from an earlier build at the Insomnia Gaming Festival, here.

Ketchup & Mustard have indicated they have plenty of content yet to come, so stay tuned to Shoryuken and their channel to see it as soon as it’s released!

Injustice 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16th.

David Gama at FGC News interviews Liang “Zhi” Chew and Steve “Tasty Steve” Scott during ELEAGUE

David Gama has been providing fantastic on-site interviews during ELEAGUE for the past week, and he’s added two new ones: Liang “Zhi” Chew and Steve “Tasty Steve” Scott.

Both interviews speak of how profoundly accommodating ELEAGUE has been to the needs of the FGC, and TBS’s recognition of needing to rely on the community’s own authenticity. Both commentators also hit on similar notes of passion: reflecting on how they are where they are today because they contributed to the community in their own ways. It’s perhaps not surprising that such strong personalities have made themselves into memorable commentators, but it’s also an inspiring lesson on the importance of the “C” in FGC.

Mad Ice King breaks down Green Arrow as he appears in Injustice 2

One of DC Comics’ most popular characters is the Green Arrow. The character’s appearances in various media–including the Injustice games–have made him a hit with fans. Despite this however, we have yet to see an official “Watchtower” stream from NetherRealm breaking down the character as he appears in Injustice 2.

To make up for the lack of an official breakdown, the Mad Ice King has put together this video that takes a closer look at Green Arrow in Injustice 2. The video below uses clips from previously released footage, including other Watchtower streams, and Mad Ice King does his best to point out notable changes to his gameplay for Injustice 2.

Let’s put a smile on that face: The Joker’s Injustice 2 gameplay trailer

It seems NetherRealm Studios have truly saved the best for last. Though leaked with the game’s achievement list earlier this week, The Joker was finally unveiled earlier today on a special DC All Access stream for Injustice 2. Though he met his demise at Superman’s hands in Injustice: Gods Among Us, the cackling spirit of the Clown Prince of Crime continues to haunt Injustice 2.

The sequel’s take on Joker is a much darker one, as he now sports what appear to be chest scar and bolts on his skin, with his hair slicked-down for a grungier appearance. As he was my own main in the original, it’s refreshing to see Joker retain his Crowbar and BANG! attacks. The latter can be held to produce a flag for an explosive OTG. His much-maligned mobility seems to have drastically improved, as his new Trait seems to provide him with his HA! speed buffs without the need to parry attacks. He has a new command grab with his Joy Buzzer that can be meter burned for restands, similar to his old Acid Flower, which will ensure he has plenty of setplay opportunities. He seems to have also become a Power character, has additional projectiles (that are likely his Gear abilities), and will once make great use of stages with background bounces.

The trailer also revealed a new stage, in the form of Joker’s Funhouse, lit with in eerie purple and green. In his super, Joker straps his helpless opponent to a chair, before re-enacting the infamous murder of Jason Todd from Batman: A Death in the Family (appropriately performed on Robin, in the trailer)! You can bask in Joker’s gleeful chaos with the trailer below. Hopefully it puts a smile on your face!

Injustice 2 will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16th.

Tekken 7: Fated Retribution video montage showcases Story Mode gameplay

Eager to know how Story Mode plays out in the upcoming Tekken 7: Fated Retribution? It’s actually more interactive that one would assume.

In a gameplay montage from GameSpot, we see a couple of plot points that already have been revealed, like training between Child Kazuya and Heihachi (which serves a bit as a tutorial). Nina Williams briefly shows up on the screen before the action switches to Heihachi kicking soldier butt. There’s also some father-son bonding time over destroying a horde of Jack-4s. It’s good to see English and Japanese voice-overs working in tandem.

Interestingly, the Story cutscenes involve some quick-time events. Get ready to encounter new “press X to throw Kazuya into the volcano” memes.
