World of Warcraft – PvP Ratings & Rewards Are Getting a Massive Overhaul in Battle for Azeroth

PvP ratings are getting a big update in World of Warcraft’s next expansion, Battle for Azeroth. The goal is, according to a new developer blog, to “increase clarity and offer a more structured progression that recognizes players’ accomplishments in real time as they climb through the ranks. As players reach (specific) rating thresholds, they will enter formal brackets”. But there’s so much more.

World of Warcraft – Got a Lapsed Account? You Can Log In & Play for Free For the Time Being

It seems that recently lapsed World of Warcraft subscription account have been unlocked with players able to log in and play any character, even those over level 20, for free for the time being. There was no announcement made, but savvy Redditors noticed they were able to log their characters even without resubscribing. In addition, accounts that have been inactive for a long while have been upgraded to Warlords of Draenor.

World of Warcraft – Heavy Metal & WoW Unite During Hellfest 2018 + HODOR!

The World of Warcraft site has been updated with a cool new video and an announcement that the team will be on hand at Hellfest in Clisson, France from June 22nd to June 24th. The event is an open air heavy metal festival that is “one of Europe’s most massive music events”. The post goes on to say that the team will be bringing “renowned actor and DJ (not to mention WoW and metal music fan) Kristian Nairn” with them. HODOR!

The World of Warcraft PTR has been updated to v8.0 that brings the pre-event quests and events in for testing. Anyone can take part by copying over an existing max-level character and diving in. 8.0 content includes many of the big changes coming to WoW with the launch of BfA including the global cooldown changes, talent and utility changes, the removal of most Artifact abilities.

World of Warcraft – 32-Bit Support Ending This Summer

The World of Warcraft community site has been updated with a brief notice to let players know that 32-bit support for WoW will be ending this summer. “The vast majority of World of Warcraft players are already running the 64-bit version of the game, and this change will allow us to focus on making the 64-bit version as stable and efficient as possible”. Players will need to upgrade their operating system to 64-bit, most often for free.
