Speed running is quite a thing these days in games, but it’s not often that we see MMOs treated to speed running shenanigans. Over the weekend, “Shiekrunner” took a level 101 Demon Hunter in World of Warcraft with every possible run speed increase, including a massive Mastery stat (which in DHs increases movement speed), through over a dozen dungeons from Classic to Warlords of Draenor.

If you’re going to be on hand during this year’s Blizzcon, you may be pleased to hear that Muse will be closing out this year’s festivities with a concert on the final day. Those with virtual tickets will also be able to view the event.

During last weekend’s World of Warcraft Mythic+ Dungeon Invitational, developers were closely watching the competition to determine trends that teams were using. During game play, Blizzard’s Lead Encounter Designer Morgan Day said that he and his team noticed that teams were “stacking” classes with combat resurrection, a “much powerful utility”. This stacking is dampened in raids, according to Day, and is something the team is considering bringing to the next MDI & maybe the wider game.

For those who have shelved alt characters in World of Warcraft for most of Legion, it appears that now’s a good time to get them started again. With Artifact Knowledge being raised weekly, account-wide unlocks for flying and the new Argus account-wide access to World Quests, Invasion Points and Greater Invasion points, it’s a good time for alts altogether.

The 8th Annual Running of the Gnomes taking part in World of Warcraft has been detailed on the event’s official site. The run is set to take place on October 14th at 4:00 pm Pacific / 7:00 pm Eastern on the Scarlet Crusade – US realm. Anyone wishing to participate logs in with a new level 1 Gnome and requests an invite to one of several guilds taking part in the event. Why is this such a special event? Participants are raising funds for breast cancer research.

In case you weren’t aware, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day (YARR!) around the world and in many of our favorite games. In World of Warcraft, it’s Pirate Day that comes with a series of quests in Booty Bay that can yield a brand new Jolly Roger toy if exalted with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Visit Captain DeMeza, dance to get a pirate outfit that leads to a quest to get an Emergency Pirate Outfit to put on when today’s but a memory.

The Blizzcon 2017 Virtual Ticket is now on sale for $39 that offers buyers a window into the annual event taking place in November in Anaheim, California. Virtual ticket holders will have access to streams not shown on public channels, on demand replays, a $10 discount on a Blizzcon Goody Bag through the Shop and a number of fun goodies in all Blizzard games including AWESOME faction-themed flying mounts in World of Warcraft.

From now through December 31st, 100% of the “adoption” (purchase) price of the World of Warcraft battle pet, “Shadow”, will be split evenly between the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to assist with relief efforts around the world. The US purchase price is $10, with the EU price at 10 Euros.

Overnight, Blizzard sneakily added a brand new World of Warcraft battle pet named Shadow to the in-game pet journal with the Shop listed as his source. As of this writing, however, Shadow is not yet available for sale, though presumably this will come later today, perhaps after weekly maintenance is complete. Many players are speculating that proceeds from the sale of Shadow will be targeted for a charity drive devoted to hurricane relief as Cinder Kitten was in 2011 after Hurricane Sandy.

When players landed on Argus in World of Warcraft last week, they were met by the now-familiar prohibition against flying. Blizzard has been very outspoken about new zones being “no fly” for at least the first several weeks or months, usually requiring players to gain reputation with zone factions and / or complete various objectives to ‘earn’ the right to fly. Many, in fact, had just completed the tasks to unlock flying on the Broken Isles, only to get to Argus and be grounded again.
