The next major update to World of Warcraft will be launching later today for players in North America, tomorrow for European players. Called Shadows of Argus, the update literally takes players to the home planet of the Burning Legion to end its threat to Azeroth once and for all. 7.3 brings a number of big changes along with new systems, mounts, items and gear.

The World of Warcraft team has unveiled just about everything a determined adventurer (or world-saving hero!) needs to know before making the voyage to Argus, home of the Burning Legion and currently under siege by the Army of Light. The Shadows of Argus v7.3 update goes live next week, so it’s a good chance to BE PREPARED (unlike the leader of the Demon Hunters who shall remain nameless).

The timeline for a WoW expansion reveal at this year’s Blizzcon is looking better and better. Speaking to PCGamesN during Blizzcon, World of Warcraft Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said that the 7.3 update for Legion is the “last major content patch” of the expansion. That doesn’t, however, mean it’s the end of updates for Legion and updates that will help bridge the gap between it and the next expansion.

We usually try to avoid “news of news” but Blizzard is an outlier in this regard due to keen interest from fans and non-fans alike. On Monday, August 21st, the company will “tease” the “official Reveal Ceremony” that is set to take place on Wednesday, August 23rd at 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern. So you see? When World of Warcraft is updated to v7.3 in a couple weeks, caster characters of all races will be getting a whole new look…well, except for Warlocks for the time being. The community site has been updated with a couple of neat videos showing off the new animations as well as providing some developer insight into the hows and whys of the changes.

A ban wave has been initiated in World of Warcraft to close accounts for trading real-world cash for dungeon / raid clears as well as a series of bans for account sharing “in order to gain a competitive advantage during raid progression”. Both are considered violations of the Terms of Use. There is no mention of the length of the bans.

From the Halls of Rumor, details of the next World of Warcraft expansion have been leaked. It’s a pretty hefty amount of material to dismiss outright, so we’ll give you the nitty gritty and you can decide for yourselves.

During today’s World of Warcraft live stream, Blizzard’s Ion Hazzikostas answered a flurry of questions over the hour he was on the event stream. He covered a number of topics including artifacts, reforging, mythic plus rewards and changes, the recent “world first” race and upcoming Argus content.

Twilight and the Luminous Starseeker, a pet and mount combination pack, have arrived in the Blizzard Shop or the in-game shop for $30. They can be used only in World of Warcraft. This dynamic duo is special in that they are color-shifters. Twilight is a cute kitten companion that changes color at will while the Luminious Starseeker is a mount that shifts in energies including fel, void and other mysterious themed colors.

World of Warcraft Game Director Ion Hazzikostas will be participating in a live developer Q&A on Thursday, August 3rd beginning at 11:00 am Pacific / 2:00 pm Eastern. Players can submit questions about the forthcoming v7.3 update that will see players going off world to the home planet of the Burning Legion.
