American and Japanese Johnny Players Sign Their Name in These Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Match Compilations

Johnny, the flagship swashbuckler from the Jellyfish Pirates, is one of the more stylish and flashy characters in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. While he was known as the “touch of death” character before the Evolution 2016 patch, he can still be a formidable opponent in the hands of advanced players, whether they’re Japanese or American.

KidViper recently streamed a couple of sets against an American Sol and Raven, Nakkiel and Koogy. The long sets are good to study the match-up and detail, and KidViper commentates during them.

For a Japanese perspective on the character, there’s none better to watch than Karinchu and Omito. Below, Omito has a long set against a variety of some of the finest in the land, like Roi, Fumo, 310, and more. As part of the Tenkaichi Budokai league, Karinchu fought Kazuki’s Dizzy. He also has another recent set against Nage, which is always a pleasure to watch.

The Warrior versus The Kid: Last Stock Legends Recount the Tale of Mango vs. Kage at Revival of Melee 2

The road to success is paved with ups and downs. After successfully proving his skill at East Coast tournaments Pound 3 and Revival of Melee 1, Mango had silenced any naysayers who would not rate him as one of the best American Super Smash Bros. Melee players out there. Going into Revival of Melee 2, the Kid was noticeably confident, even turning up to the event hung over.

But this was Mango, the man of the moment. Surely no one could take him out even when hung over, right? Enter Kage the Warrior, a Canadian Ganondorf main who clearly did not seem to agree. Defeating Mango in Winners side, the two then met again in Losers, where Mango was forced to bring out his feared Jigglypuff to take down this King of Evil. Kage would win that set, but it would sow the seed for a future clash at Revival of Melee 3. Mango would then pick Ganon’s eternal rival and low tier character Link, in an attempt to banish Kage’s Ganondorf in the most disrespectful way possible.

Hearing from the perspective of then East Coast denizen Scar and Kage himself, Last Stock Legends recount the story of one of the biggest shockers during Melee’s era of struggle.

Super Smash Con 2017 Announced for Middle of August

The annual event covering all things Super Smash Bros. is back for yet another year! The Super Smash Con 2017 has been announced for August 10th to 13th, with the event to be held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia.

This four-day event has featured every title in the Smash library to date, including the community-built Project M in the past, and is one of the largest events on the Smash circuit. There is currently no set game list, and while we could see other platforming titles at the event such as Brawlhalla and Rivals of Aether, this still remains a Smash-centric event.

Early bird registration will start in March.
