Next Dragon Ball FighterZ balance patch confirmed for mid-August, will change 24 characters

A new era for Dragon Ball FighterZ will begin after Evo 2018!

Earlier today, a special livestream was held for Dragon Ball FighterZ on OpenRec.TV, where, in addition to revealing character trailers for base Goku and Vegeta, Producer Tomoko Hiroki detailed the next balance patch, that will likely be released alongside them following Evo 2018.

As with the previous patch, a graphic was released listing the characters that will be adjusted, which will be a far greater number compared to the last update that mainly adjusted Android 16, Adult Gohan and Super Saiyan Vegeta. The characters who will be impacted are as follows:

  • Frieza
  • Nappa
  • Gotenks
  • Android 21
  • Cell
  • SSGSS Vegeta
  • Captain Ginyu
  • Tien
  • Fused Zamasu
  • Beerus
  • SSGSS Vegito
  • Broly
  • Android 18
  • Kid Buu
  • Majin Buu
  • SSGSS Goku
  • Yamcha
  • Bardock
  • Krillin
  • Android 16
  • Hit
  • Teen Gohan
  • Trunks
  • Piccolo

Conspicuous by their absences are the quartet of Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Goku Black, and Adult Gohan, who will not be receiving any significant changes as Hiroki considers the four of them to be the “standard of balance” for the game. It was also noted that primary focus of the update will be on handing out buffs to a large portion of the cast. Players will also be able to filter the Square Color when searching for Ranked and Casual online matches.

Though no particular release date was given, it was noted that the update would arrive — likely with the base Saiyans — around the second week of August, so as to not compromise Evo, which is right around the corner. We’ll hopefully get some more specifics on Sunday, during the Dragon Ball Games 2018 livestream. You can see a full recap video from rooflemonger, as well as some tweets about the patch, below.

Bandai Namco releases new screenshots of Base Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Get ready to take a trip back to the Saiyan Saga!

Earlier this week, it was announced that Base Goku and Vegeta would be the next pair of DLC characters heading to Dragon Ball FighterZ. This morning the Bandai Namco US Twitter account released some new screenshots of the pair: We see Base Vegeta firing off his Galick Gun and Galaxy Breaker Super Special Moves, while Base Goku activates Kaioken and charges up the Spirit Bomb, as well as clear headshots of their official portraits on the in-game HUD. It also appears that they will officially be referred to in-game as simply Goku and Vegeta, which makes sense, as their Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Forms that are currently present in the game carry that distinction on both the HUD and character select screen.

Both of these characters will be available sometime in early August as part of DLC 3, and will cost $4.99 each. They are also included in the FighterZ Pass alongside Bardock, Broly, Fused Zamasu, SSGSS Vegito and two more unannounced characters (who are heavily rumored to be Android 17 in his Dragon Ball Super incarnation and Cooler in his Final Form), for $34.99. You can see the full set of screenshots in all their glory below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC, with a Nintendo Switch version set to be released on Friday, September 28th, with an open beta set for early August.

Swimsuit Premium costumes for Juri, Menat, Sakura, Kolin and Falke announced at Street Fighter San Diego Comic Con panel

There’s a new batch of Summer costumes for the ladies of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Though we sadly didn’t get a reveal of G at Capcom’s Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018, Capcom did announce a new wave of Swimsuit Costumes for Juri, Menat, Sakura, Kolin and Falke that will be “coming soon.” Each character brings a sprinkle of personality to the outfits, with the sadistic Juri foregoing sandals for boots and a leather jacket, while Sakura dons her gym attire.

Though no price range was given for the outfits, they will likely cost the same individually as other Premium Costumes at $3.99 each. It is unknown whether or not they will also be released in a bundle like previous swimsuit outfits. You can see the full set of attires below, and we’ll keep you informed right here at Shoryuken as more details emerge.

Which of these new costumes is your favorite, and will you be picking any of them up once they release? Let us know in the comments.

Bleach’s Ichigo, Rukia and Aizen are shown off in this month’s V-Jump scan for Jump Force

Get a closer look at the Soul Reaper trio with Jump Force’s latest V-Jump scan!

Last month, we reported that Bleach’s Ichigo Kurosaki would be playable in the upcoming Jump Force, alongside ally Rukia Kuchika and nemesis Sousuke Aizen, reuniting Shonen Jump’s “Big Three” in the team-based arena fighter.

Though we’ve also seen some screenshots of the trio, this month’s V-Jump scan — translated by ShonenGamez — provides us with a look at the trio’s official character artwork. They are clad in their “Thousand Year Blood War” attires from the manga’s final arc. The scan also provides details on each Reaper’s play style.

Despite having his power sealed by Soul Society after his failed invasion of Karakura Town, Aizen will still be able to use his Zanpakuto, Kyoka Suigetsu, which holds hypnotic abilities. Ichigo will be wielding the true form of his zanpakuto: the dual-blade Shin No Zangetsu, representing both his Soul Reaper/Hollow and Quincy powers — this allows him to perform the Getsuga Jujisho. Finally, Rukia, Lieutenant of the 13th Division of the Gotei 13, brings her signature ice attacks with her zanpakuto, Sode No Shirayuki.

We also get to see a bit more of the Hong Kong stage, which will allow players to fall into the grave of Blackbeard’s pirate ship, which seems to allow follow-up attacks from a landing zone. You can see the full scan below, and hopefully we’ll be seeing these three in action with the promised “insane slicing visuals” soon.

Can’t choose an anchor in Dragon Ball FighterZ? These tips from rooflemonger could point you in the right direction

This guide from rooflemonger could help you find the right third for your team!

Character order and positioning is one of the more unique — yet also daunting — aspects of team-based fighting games. Though you may have found what you feel is the perfect team for you, it could all fall apart if not played in the optimal order.

This is especially true in a 3V3 game like Dragon Ball FighterZ, especially with single assists being tied to each character, with no ability to choose between them like in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Though rooflemonger encourages players to obviously play their warriors in the order they wish, he has decided to break down the qualities of what generally makes up a strong anchor in the game, while also running down some of the pros and cons of many of the more prominent anchors in the current competitive climate.

He specifically discusses Yamcha, Tien, Super Saiyan Goku, Goku Black, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Kid Buu, Android 16, Gotenks, and Cell — displaying what each character brings to the position and how well they may fit into the role, compared to the other two possible positions. If you’re a new player looking to get in on the massive wave of hype, or just looking for that final piece to the puzzle that is your dream team, this guide may have the answers you need.

What qualities did you look for in your team’s anchor? Let us know in the comments.

Female Saiyan Fusion Kefla announced as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s latest DLC character

Though it was recently announced that base form Goku and Vegeta would be the next pair of DLC characters heading to Dragon Ball FighterZ, there’s even more Dragon Ball news for you, as Kefla was also revealed as the latest DLC character coming to Xenoverse 2.

The Potara Fusion of Universe 6 female Saiyans Kale and Caulifla, first seen in the Universe Survival arc of Dragon Ball Super, the cocky warrior’s power as a Super Saiyan 2 rivaled even that of Goku’s Ultra Instinct -Sign- form during the Tournament of Power. Though the article from V-Jump doesn’t mention much about her playstyle, it does note that she will have two reactions for her Gigantic Breaker, which was her ultimate attack in the anime: one for when it hits, and another should she whiff it. The attack is said to be extremely powerful and damaging but with a long recovery time if missed, leaving her open for a large counterattack from her opponents.

No release date was given for Kefla, but she will likely be part of DLC Pack 7 alongside Super Baby Vegeta. We’ll likely hear more about Kefla and other Dragon Ball game news during the Dragon Ball Game Summer Festival 2018 livestream on Sunday, July 29th. You can see an untranslated scan below.
